Other Activities: Lake activities although only owners are allowed to have boats on the lake. We have a rowboat and paddleboat. Fishing is great. Area has hiking, bowling, paint ball, petting zoo, golf, and more. Honesdale is about a 20 minute ride north on 191 and usually has some special activities for the weekend. It's a quaint town with great stores and restaurants. Hamlin has Schaeffer's hardware which is just a really neat hardware store complete with gifts, kitchen items, dollar store items, lawn, garden, clothing, boots, in addition to typical name brand hardware store items. Hunter's Gallery is on one side of it and a driving range on the other!

Golf: Scranton Municipal Golf Course is a public course about a 15 minute drive from the cottage. Red Maples is close and a real country course. The views are fabulous. Honesdale has a course, one made famous by Art Wall and his record holes in one, but it's a private course. They may have specials when you're in the area so you may get to play. There is a driving range close by near Schaefer's hardware store in Hamlin.

Ski: Skiing is a must for most in the area. South of Scranton on I-81is Montage Mountain which has a great snowboard run and a wonderful lodge. North of Scranton on I-81 is Elk Mountain with great black diamond runs and many trails. Near Stroudsburg is Camelback Mountain with many winter activities in addition to skiing. It's also near the Tannersville Outlets is some would rather shop than ski. There are also two smaller but fun resorts: Tanglwood and Big Bear. The latter is near Woodloch which is also home to a high end spa.

Cozy Cottage

5 of 5
Submitted: March 10, 2013 Stayed: February 2013
My family and I arrived at this cozy cottage on a Friday evening during a bad snow storm and oh how beautiful everything was. The cottage was warm and welcoming and the lake with the snow was amazing. We saw some people ice fishing on the lake.
We all went skiing on Saturday at Elk Mountain which was about an hour drive.
On Sunday we lit a fire in the huge fireplace, bought some buffalo cubes at the local buffalo store down the road and made a wonderful dinner and relaxed.
This place is just so charming and warm and inviting we all agreed that we need to come back again and this time for a week during the summer so we could use the lake and the boats.
The cottage was very clean and had everything you would need when staying there.
We will definitely be back again.

Best vacation ever!

What a great vacation we had in this charming lakefront cottage. The scenery was beautiful, the water crystal clear, and the fishing was fantastic! Catches included muskie, perch, bass, blugill, and catfish. Oh, and a 14" Crappie (that's a big one)!!

The cottage was conveniently located to restaurants, groceries, and even an eye doctor I needed to see while there. We also found plenty of antique shops to keep us busy in the area.

But what we really enjoyed was no phone and no internet, and we never watched the television. What a way to "get away"! The cottage is amply furnished with videos, games, magazines, and books for your pleasure. We highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing vacation.
Owner's Response: So glad to read happy reviews! You too can enjoy the calm and peaceful feeling at the cottage!

Wonderful Vacation!!

We had a amazing time at your lovely cottage! The cottage was the perfect vacation for us to take together. I just wanted a get away and the fact that there was a fireplace, spa tub and big comfy bed made it incredible! We were also happy that we could take our girls with us. (chihuahuas) My husband is more of a can't sit still kind of person, so he enjoyed the fact that there was two casinos so close by and some other sites that he could visit. The cottage was so nicely decorated and we felt so at home almost instantly. The lake view was beautiful and so calming. Thanks!

We had an amazing time at the cottage! It was the perfect vacation for us. We were able to take our girls (chihuahuas) I wanted to just get away and relax and the cottage was perfect for that. The fireplace, jet tub and big comfy bed made this a vacation to remember for a long time. My husband also enjoyed the vacation because we were so close to two casinos and some attractions that he wanted to visit. So this was the perfect place for us to go on vacation together, he got to do the things he enjoyed and I got to relax and just get away from it all. The cottage was so beautifully decorated and you just instantly felt at home! I have to say 5 stars all the way! Thanks so much! The Cramer's
