Photos and Description of the Sterling vacation cabin rental
Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Welcome to Wildwoods Cabin, an experience you will always remember. Recently built, Wildwoods Cabin is a very modern 4 bedroom, 3 bath “cabin in the woods” overlooking the peaceful Moose River near Sterling, Alaska. The builder has harvested interesting stone and unique wild woods from years of roaming the Alaskan wilderness and has brought it all together to create the beautiful masterpiece that is the Wildwoods Cabin, all for your exclusive lodging experience.

Read a book by the gas fireplace with the beautiful burled spruce mantel and enjoy the towering stone and wild wood wall above the black granite bar. The kitchen with cherry cabinets is fully equipped for whatever culinary delights you are ready to create.

Fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, and teas are ready for your mornings. Relax in the soaking tub and large walk-in shower of the master bathroom. The large deck overlooking the river with its grill and dining area is also a bird lover's dream location to watch 60 known species throughout the year.

Trumpeter swans and many other waterfowl make this a favorite feeding stop on spring and fall migrations. Moose enjoy feeding in the river at sunrise and sunset. Bear, caribou, coyotes, wolves, otter and mink wander through on occasion. Breathe in the fresh scents from the rock gardens and flower beds built into the surrounding terrain. Stroll the path to the river and soak up the wildlife from the benches on the dock. Take off in the canoe for a leisurely paddle up the Moose River. Or after a day of fishing, hiking, or sightseeing, you can return to the luxurious surroundings of the cabin.

Wildwoods Cabin was built and furnished by Robert Kuiper, Alaska's master log furniture builder who focuses on bringing the beauty of Alaska's woods and rivers indoors and incorporating them into beds, tables, and chairs. Of special interest are the beautiful end tables created from the log remains of the new Iditarod Burled Arch in Nome, of which Robert built in 2000.

Wildwood's Cabin is definitely a 5 star property. The photos don't do justice to the unique "burl wood" pieces that complete the cabin. Great location, with easy access to town for supplies or the opportunity to try the surrounding lakes and rivers for fish. The cabin was immaculate with condiments in fridge and cupboard. Coffee, cereals, OJ, milk and homemade Sourdough Zucchini Bread was provided to start our day. We highly recommend anyone to experience the great accommodations and friendship that we enjoyed so much.

We came to Alaska for 12 days and stayed at the "Wildwoods Cabin" for 3 nights. The rest of our vacation we were still wishing we were there. What an outstanding home! Alot of great workmanship, thought and design went into this home. The furniture made from local woods and designed by the homeower thruout the home gave you a real sense of Alaska. Never have I stayed in such beautiful cabin anywhere. First class all the way! He stocked the kitchen with organic breakfast makings including cereals, fruits, juice and miilk. Our teenage girls loved the firepit and making smores each night. The property was inhabited with moose everywhere including their babies.. What a thrill to wake up each morning and see the moose lounging in the Moose River outside the back of the house. This cabin was beyond clean it was perfect and the kind of place you like to stay in on vacation. We can't wait to go back again!

Dream Come True

Wildwoods Cabin is truly heaven on earth. The photos do not do justice to the the exquisite construction, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. This new home was lovingly designed, constructed, detailed, furnished and best of all made by the owner's own two hands. In addition, the appliances are top of the line and the space is large, beautiful, and second only to the awesome views of Moose River from the full pictures windows on two levels of the home. This is a large home with two master size bedrooms, several more bedrooms and three full size bathrooms. Two levels make this home very private for sharing with extended family members or friends while maintaining privacy. It is hard to describe the calm, quite setting and the home's beauty, including the gas fireplace, countertop/bar area, furniture, bathrooms, stained glass doors to the laundry area, huge deck & grill, landscaping, outdoor fire pit, and walk to dock and canoe. Also, so much is already provided upon arrival: breakfast foods, coffee, firewood, grill, fish cleaning station, towels, linens, soap, shampoo/conditioner, supplies, etc! There is a beautiful soaker tub and a walk-in shower in the first floor master suite! Walk-in closets and closet space abound! The owner's woodworking skills are so respected and renown that he was commissioned to carve the amazing new burl wood arch that hangs over and marks the finish line of the Iditarod dog sled race in Nome, Alaska. The owner was fantastic, the property was spectacular, and my family and I had the absolute best vacation of our lives! Forget the cruise ships, crowds, and touristy tours. Stay centrally located like we did in a beyond beautiful home and setting that welcomes you home after enjoying awesome day trips on your own schedule. See the real Alaska from from the heavenly domain of Wildwoods Cabin! I wish we had planned another week, or even better, a whole month! Thank you for a vacation that will be most fondly and often remembered as the best ever!

Alaskan Paradise Retreat

My friend and I stayed in this incredibly gorgeous cabin in September of 2010 and I hope to return sometime soon. The craftsmanship and beauty of every room is incredible and don't let the term cabin fool you, it is more like a private home. It is warm and comfortable with a breathtaking view of sunset over the Moose River. Dinner on the deck proved to be a relaxing experience as did reading in front of the fireplace. A trail leads down to the river from the back of the cabin where you will find your private canoe. The friendly touches such as food for our breakfasts and fresh flowers made us feel totally at home. The cabin was spotless, the towels large and soft and the beds incredibly comfortable. This is a perfect vacation home for two families or 4 couples.
