Welcome to Wildwoods Cabin, an experience you will always remember. Recently built, Wildwoods Cabin is a very modern 4 bedroom, 3 bath “cabin in the woods” overlooking the peaceful Moose River near Sterling, Alaska. The builder has harvested interesting stone and unique wild woods from years of roaming the Alaskan wilderness and has brought it all together to create the beautiful masterpiece that is the Wildwoods Cabin, all for your exclusive lodging experience.
Read a book by the gas fireplace with the beautiful burled spruce mantel and enjoy the towering stone and wild wood wall above the black granite bar. The kitchen with cherry cabinets is fully equipped for whatever culinary delights you are ready to create.
Fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, and teas are ready for your mornings. Relax in the soaking tub and large walk-in shower of the master bathroom. The large deck overlooking the river with its grill and dining area is also a bird lover's dream location to watch 60 known species throughout the year.
Trumpeter swans and many other waterfowl make this a favorite feeding stop on spring and fall migrations. Moose enjoy feeding in the river at sunrise and sunset. Bear, caribou, coyotes, wolves, otter and mink wander through on occasion. Breathe in the fresh scents from the rock gardens and flower beds built into the surrounding terrain. Stroll the path to the river and soak up the wildlife from the benches on the dock. Take off in the canoe for a leisurely paddle up the Moose River. Or after a day of fishing, hiking, or sightseeing, you can return to the luxurious surroundings of the cabin.
Wildwoods Cabin was built and furnished by Robert Kuiper, Alaska's master log furniture builder who focuses on bringing the beauty of Alaska's woods and rivers indoors and incorporating them into beds, tables, and chairs. Of special interest are the beautiful end tables created from the log remains of the new Iditarod Burled Arch in Nome, of which Robert built in 2000.

This lodging truly was crafted with love and an eye for detail. The cabin and furnishings were in their natural habitat. Every time we looked around we saw something new and unique. The owner/builder has a God given talent of looking at a piece of wood and crafting it into either functional furniture or trim. It was clean and neat; well maintained; kitchen utensils well stocked; cereal, coffee, tea, condiments in the cupboards; refrigerator had orange juice and milk stocked; gas grill on the deck; an easy walking path to the river with two benches waiting to be used. Excellent quality bedding and linens. Four senior couples enjoyed a brief, but too short stay; definitely will return if the opportunity arises.
An amazing cabin on a beautiful setting. The custom woodworking throughout makes this place a little slice of heaven. We enjoyed sitting on the banks of the Moose River watching many different birds, fish, moose & caribou. Very close to so many activities! You will not regret this stay!!
We LOVED Wildwoods cabin! It is beautiful, warm, homey, I couldn't stop looking at the unique feautures of the decor. The owners stopped by to welcome us with cookies. We found out Robert actually is a master log furnituremaker...it shows! You will love your stay here!
All I can say is this gorgeous place spoiled our stays in Homer and Girdwood. The rest of our trip, I kept saying, just take me back to Wildwoods Cabin. We were a party of five and everyone loved this place and felt welcomed and oh so comfortable. I would highly recommend this unique cabin to anyone who is close to Sterling. Words can't describe how nice it is and and the same can be said of the owners.
Loved Wildwoods! Beautiful pristine location with wonderful views of the river. We saw moose and eagles everyday from the house. Even had moose peeking in the window late one night. Loved being away from town, with total quiet and solitude. On the other hand the location was central enough that we made day trips to Homer, Seward, Soldotna and Hope. There is no way to explain the unique qualities of this home and property. The photos help, but seeing is believing. The owners/builders took great pride in every little detail of Wildwoods. They have also made sure the grounds are kept up with all the natural vegetation and wildflowers. Wildwoods gave us that true taste of Alaska we were looking for with all the comforts of home. Amazing!
Wildwood's Cabin is definitely a 5 star property. The photos don't do justice to the unique "burl wood" pieces that complete the cabin. Great location, with easy access to town for supplies or the opportunity to try the surrounding lakes and rivers for fish. The cabin was immaculate with condiments in fridge and cupboard. Coffee, cereals, OJ, milk and homemade Sourdough Zucchini Bread was provided to start our day. We highly recommend anyone to experience the great accommodations and friendship that we enjoyed so much.
