Guestbook comments from the owner
We have enjoyed wonderful days in the cabin in Estes Park and in the Rocky Mountain National Park with its magnificent scenery-- appreciated all the more when there is a comfortable "home-away-from-home" to return to in the evening. You have decorated and furnished it so great. Don't think you have missed anything.

My husband & I own the cabin along with my retired parents. My husband is busy as Principal of a K-8 charter school in the Denver area, so my parents and I are the primary managers of the property. My parents were linguists, living in Peru, South America, for over 40 years. I was an English/Writing teacher for years but now work part time out of our home. We love to get away to our mountain retreat and hope that you will enjoy the peaceful quiet as much as we do.

Ruth purchased this cabin in 2009

My Great-Great Grandfather was a homesteader in Estes Park. Our branch of the family moved away from Colorado, but my father remembers spending summers in Estes park in the 1940's. Several of our family are living back in Colorado, and now we're thrilled to have a cabin in Estes Park where we can build memories with our children. In our completely unbiased opinion, Estes Park is the most beautiful year round vacation spot in the U.S.

Because the cabin faces Southeast, I love sitting in front of the picture window and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Likewise, the patio offers stunning views at sunset with the clouds turning pink and orange all around. And on full moon nights, the view is spectacular! The full kitchen and gas grill help to make life easy for us: eating dinner outside on the patio is always refreshing. Most afternoons, a family of deer meanders through the property on their way down the mountain. Our children love to climb the mountain behind the cabin and even play cellphone hide-and-seek among the trees, rocks, and outcroppings. As a family, we often walk the 20 minute trail skirting the mountain and ending up at the Moraine Park Museum. From there, we can take the summer shuttle bus almost anywhere in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Also a short walk away but at the bottom of the hill, we can take the free Estes Park shuttle bus into town in the summer and not worry about parking. Other times of year, we are a short 5 minute drive from downtown.

Nice Getaway

  • 4 of 5
This cabin does feel very cozy and was clean and well maintained. It was great for a weekend getaway and we felt right at home! I would slightly caution people who are traveling with small children or dogs as the deadbolt on the front door has been disabled, and with very strong winds and cold temperatures, we had a hard time getting the door to latch shut. It blew open early in the morning and our dogs got out. Fortunately, the cabin is tucked away in a nice quiet area so we found our dogs safely roaming around close by. Other than that, we very much enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: We have installed a second lock for double security. We checked the existing coded lock and found no issues. The only thing we can figure is that Feb saw some unusually low temps (-15 degrees F) which must have caused the wood to expand around the lock, making it difficult to latch properly. The secondary lock will maintain security no matter what the temperature outside.

Great little cabin

  • 5 of 5
This cabin is just what I expected. Very cute and located in an older neighborhood. I am from Estes Park, so I was very familiar with the locale of the cabin. There are other cabins very close, but we actually hardly ever saw a soul. We pretty much had the neighborhood to ourselves. The cabin has almost everything you need. It is adorable. Shower is very tiny, but otherwise everything is very functional and was clean. The only thing I would recommend is better tv channels on the satellite t.v. Otherwise, perfect for our needs. We really liked the little gazebo area out front. We appreciate that it was pet friendly as well!

Would recommend staying here

  • 5 of 5
What a cute cottage and in a fun and convenient location. Our boys first comment when we walked in: "this is awesome". It was clean and well-stocked. It was nice to have our own place versus a hotel room. We would definitely stay here again, and we would definitely recommend this to others. It was very convenient to get to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park as well as downtown Estes Park. Thank you!

Mountain Hiking

  • 5 of 5
I spent five nights at the cabin with my wife, a friend, and his 14 year old daughter. There was plenty of room for the four of us and a fifth person could have slept on the pull out couch. The location was great! We were a short drive into Rocky Mountain National Park and a few minutes away from restaurants and shops in Estes Park. The cabin was very comfortable and the owner was very helpful in answering my questions and assisting me with a specific request. We were able to save money on food by making our own meals at night and packing lunches for the day. We used the gas grill a couple of nights and my friend enjoyed sitting outside in the morning drinking coffee in the gazebo. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back!

So cute!!!

  • 5 of 5
We came to the cabin with 6 people. Was a little concerned when I saw it driving up thinking that it would be too smal. But as soon as we opened the door we fell in love!!
It was such a cute little place and we all had enough room.
Had an awesome little BBQ and really enjoyed drinking our coffee underneath the gazebo in the mornings! The hummingbirds were out all day long and we had such a good time watching them buzz around.
We can't wait to come back again!!

No problems

  • 2 of 5
The cabin...really is a cabin. It has been updated inside and is very clean. It was unusually hot in Colorado during our stay so I think if there were fans available (there might be) it would have helped. The cabin is close to Estes and RMNP so it is handy. It is located somewhat close to the surrounding houses, the pic doesn't show this. The house and old gentleman mentioned in another review is right in front of the cabin but there was no activity as they spoke of. We really never seen anybody around much. The shower is very small. It does have low ceilings as other reviewers have stated but that's only a problem in the bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with most staple items (and some extras) and all of the utensils and kitchenware needed. There is a grill provided under a recently constructed gazebo with patio furniture. We used the grill and the table and it worked well. Price wise, I would suggest 125.00 as the top price. The owners are very eager to do anything you need so this makes up for some of the lesser qualities.

Owner's Response: We have put several fans in the cabin--one for each room.

There is no better place to relax then on the back side of Eagle Cliff Mountain! You can hike into the Rocky Mountain National Park or drive in without having to fight the tourist traffic in town. Eagle Cliff Mountain offers easy access to the YMCA of the Rockies, many nice restaurants and a grocery store, once again, without having to fight the tourist traffic in town.
