Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
We have just returned to the UK from a fantastic holiday in Dunedin. The apartment was exactly what we wanted - it was clean, well-equipped, and an excellent location for the beach (Honeymoon Beach & Caledisi Island) and some great restaurants (Bellini, Bon Appetit). We spent some lovely evenings sitting outside by the water watching some spectacular sunsets. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend this property with no hesitation. A great find, and a wonderful holiday.

Wonderful Winter Escape

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent three glorious months this year in this comfortable waterfront Dunedin property. The pictures are absolutely accurate but do not capture the peace and quiet, the sound of the birds, the amazing light at all times of day but especially before sunset. We like to cook our own meals and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything from clean modern appliances to three sets of dishes, a juicer, blender, a great dutch oven. The furniture was comfortable and well-maintained. We loved having a second TV in the bedroom and 300 channels to choose from. The family was busy with their own lives so we did not feel any loss of privacy despite sharing the backyard. It was great that we had our own driveway and entrance gate and could use the lovely landscaping, dock and pool area. We felt like visiting relatives rather than short term tenants. Claude was always available to answer questions and was a cordial host. Our favorite things about Dunedin include biking on the Pinellas Trail, strolling through the lovely downtown streets like Victoria and Scotland, lunch at the Dunedin Brewpub, golf at Dunedin Golf Club, baseball in March, the beach at Honeymoon Island, the Mardi Gras parade. Nearby we enjoyed the YMCA at Palm Harbour, the boat cruise to Anclote Key, Greek food in Tarpon Springs, a trolley ride to Passe a Grille. Occasionally we went into Tampa or St Petersburgh for a play, a ballet or a concert. We hated to leave at the end of March but will return again in Jan 2014 to do it all again. I strongly recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to enjoy a very special part of Florida and feel like you're part of a family and a neighborhood.

Just What We Needed!

  • 5 of 5
This was a very nice place to stay. We wanted something close to the bike trail and this was it. It was a clean and private apartment that needed nothing and it was also very quiet. You have a really nice view of the bay from your door. It 's a really nice neighborhood and we enjoy walking through the neighborhoods and looking at the homes. Claude and his wife are very nice and very helpful. If you are concerned about the dog bothering you it won't happen here. King's a really nice dog. Pet him when you get there and he's your buddy. Believe me he won't bother you at all. This is the perfect spot to stay if you want to ride bikes on the Pinellas Trail. We rode bikes to Tarpon Springs one day and rode to St Petersburg on another. We also rode bikes to Honeymoon Island State Park (really nice). We really liked The Island Outpost Restaurant on Causeway Blvd and Kellys downtown. If you enjoy walking like we do then downtown and Causeway Blvd are not that far. When we are on vacation we usually walk a few miles and check everything out. We would definitely stay here again. I saw the negative review but I'm sure there is always someone that is not happy. Dunedin is the perfect place to relax.

Wonderful week!

  • 4 of 5
Just returned home to cold Minnesota from a great week in Dunedin. Stayed at Claude's place for the week and enjoyed every minute. It was like having a private home, but had a newspaper at the door every morning. It was truly a most relaxing place to stay. Neat, clean and close to town. Plenty of room and all the amenities one needs, including a computer . All right there to use, towels snacks in the apartment. Probably one of the most enjoyable places I have stayed.. The pool and deck overlooking the Bay were great and the view spectacular with great susnsets. Would I use it again, you bet! Dunedin is a darling little town with great places to eat try Tina,s we did several times. Claude is a great resource of information, King the dog is very friendly. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Perfect Locatation - A Fabulous Month

  • 5 of 5
The location was perfect and the accomodations were very comfortable. We stayed a month and plan on returning. We're both cyclists and the house is 100 yards from the Pinellas trail and a short walk to Hammock Park where we walked our dog. There's convenient parking under a big shade tree, a shed to store you bikes, and the furniture is comfortable and functional. The kitchen is convenient for cooking and there's a fairly large screen TV and a computer. The bedroom is at the opposite end from the living room so one of you can stay up late while the other sleeps.

But what makes this place so special is the location. The house features a fabulous view of the water and the small island frequented by day visitors, and a 40 foot pool that is great for swimming laps. Bring your camera for great sunset pictures. There are numerous good restaurants close by (our favorites are Casa Tina and Ozona Blue) and you are convenient to shopping and many activities. The owners are helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our month there.

Not good

  • 1 of 5
I have considered the content for this review for a long time as I wanted to be fair and honest and only give true facts about the place. The location of the property is great and close to everything you could want in the Dunedin area. However, we arrived and left within the hour, the apartment had a roach trap under the kitchen table, thick dust on furniture in the bedroom and looked very well used with paint chips around all the doors, rust in the freezer and generally the place looked tired. To get to the entrance to the apartment you had to walk across the lawn under a tree and past old tool sheds with no path or lighting. The impression from the website is of a clean apartment in an expensive waterfront property, if you expect this then you will be disappointed as it is one of the worst places I have been to and the pictures do not reflect the real state of the accomodation.

Owner's Response: First, I will like to start by saying we pride ourselves in the cleanliness of our apartment. We have many comments in our guest book on the cleanliness of the apartment. The apartment is not full of dust as it is cleaned and dusted prior to each guest’s arrival. Additionally, our guest who stayed immediately prior to their arrival stated the following “This place feels like a home away from home…we will surely be coming back when we return to Dunedin”. There was a small rust spot on the metal shelf of the refrigerator from living on the salt water. The kitchen has just been updated with a new stove, dishwasher, cabinets, and countertops this year so hardly meets the definition of “tired”. We definitely use pest control, as it is essential in Florida. The apartment does require that you walk on the grass to get to the entrance. Our yard has tropical landscaping including the hammock in the tree just outside the door to enjoy the ocean views. There is adequate lighting in this area as there are lights at the front entrance to the apartment and on the front and sides of the building. The shed allows our guests the ability to store their bicycles or other items needed for the beach. The paint and the interior of the apartment are in excellent condition. There are minor chips due to suitcases. Some may prefer granite or more luxurious accommodations where you will pay 2 to 3 times more. We find most vacationers want a nice, clean well-appointed apartment at a reasonable price. Our apartment is not set up like a hotel, as that is not the intent. Despite accurate pictures these guests where not interested in this type of setting and felt 1 hour after arrival they should receive a refund. We offered a refund if rented. We were unable to rent the apartment so agreed to provide an amount they requested. We did not feel a full refund was warranted. We had several other guests interested in the apartment that we did not rent to based on this reservation. Our apartment faces the water and has a very large oceanfront backyard with a 40-foot pool including a large patio deck with patio tables, umbrellas, gas grill, a long dock, etc. We are happy to share our guest book containing great comments regarding not only our apartment but also our hospitality. Unfortunately, we cannot satisfy everyone but it looks like 99% of our guests have enjoyed their accommodations. Life is too short not to enjoy yourself to the fullest and try not sweat the small stuff!
