Enjoy this tastefully furnished 3 bedroom 3 bath home single story home built at ground level with no steps to climb. The home is located between Gulf Shores beaches and historic Fairhope. Shopping is nearby and restaurants are plentiful. The sugar white beaches of the Gulf of Mexico ( Gulf Shores ) are just 20 minute drive. There is also a white sand beach in the bay less than a quarter of a mile away. Some of the Gulf coast's best restaurants are just minutes away. The natural flow of water from the tides and the two fresh water rivers (Magnolia and Fish rivers) brings the shrimp and other bait fish right by this pier. There are also oyster beds in close proximity that add to the fishery. We purchased this property in 2007 to be closer to our family in the Fairhope and Gulf Shores Alabama area. This is a custom built home built on a beautiful lot with centuries old oak trees and great waterfront viewing of the bay. It is a very comfortable home that we enjoy fishing, boating and water sports. Weeks Bay adjoins Mobile Bay and is fed by two fresh water rivers, the Magnolia and the Fish rivers which provide for the best fishing for both freshwater to saltwater varieties of fish. The home's pier is a known local hotspot that inshore professional fishing guides bring their customer to fish by boat. The pier is located over the top of the main tidal flow path of the bay. There is also oyster beds near that are natural fish attractors. Weeks Bay is a protected natural estuary that is off limits to shrimping. Biologists project that 90% of all shrimp caught in state waters come from Weeks Bay. The ban of harvesting shrimp greatly increases the quantity of bait. Shrimping impacts both the shrimp population and all the other bait fish caught by their nets.
Ed purchased this house in 2007
We were reading the Sunday paper one July morning and I ran across this home in the classifieds. We were living on the Gulf at the time and we were very content. Having been in the area for over a decade we were very familiar with most of the real estate from Dauphin Island to Pensacola. We had looked at numerous properties in the Fairhope area on Mobile bay. There had been this small strip of land on the eastern shore of Weeks bay that we had always been attracted to, the only problem was it was very limited (~1,500 feet of shoreline) and never came up for sale. We decided to go take a look and see if by chance it was in this part of Weeks bay. We were both awestruck by natural beauty of the lot and landscape. The home had the longest pier within sight and when we walked out to the gazebo it felt like we had the bay all to ourselves. Pelican point was very near where Weeks and Mobile bay join. The property faced to the west and the sun was going down over the water providing a picturesque view with a refreshing breeze blowing. I knew at that moment this was 'IT. I would never find a property that had all the combinations of this one.
My cousins and I rented this home for our stay during our family reunion weekend. It was perfect. We wanted to get away from the crowd at the beach and just relax. Perfect! We sat on the pier late into the night fishing and crabbing. We had beautiful sunsets, my other cousins visited by boat. The accomodations were perfect for three couples. We each had our own bathrooms and privacy, yet a large communal space was available as well. We look forward to returning to this beautiful, restful place of beauty.
JUST HOW CLOSE TO HEAVEN CAN YOU GET. THIS HOME IS WONDERFUL, COMFORTABLE AND VERY WELL KEPT. SO CLEAN. KITCHEN IS WELL EQUIPPED WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED. THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. THE PIER WAS EXCELLENT. THE VIEW IS BREATHTAKING BEAUTIFUL. THE LIVE OAK TREES WITH MOSS HANGING FROM THEM ARE BEAUTIFUL ALSO. WE MET THE NEIGHBORS & MR WEEKS WHO ARE VERY NICE. THIS WAS A VERY RESTFUL VACATION FOR US . THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS SOME OF THE STEPS WERE A LITTLE HARD TO HANDLE, BUT THEN AGAIN I AM HAVING KNEES REPLACED .THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR HOME WITH OTHERS. WE WOULD LOVE TO LIVE IN THIS AREA.
We chose to stay during our yearly expat leave in States. (Now assigned in India)
We arrived directly from airport after flying traveling for 36 hours. The house was clean and ready for us. Plenty of room and, in the morning, we saw the beautiful Weeks Bay. We walked out on the long dock and sat on the swing. Just Awesome. Mobile bay is just a quarter mile away.
The house a/c worked well, had a great refrigerator and had an awesome horizontal washer and dryer.
Very comfortable couches and beds. Slept very well.
Neighbors are close, friendly, but kept to themselves so privacy was there but felt safer with people being close.
We just used liver and cut bait to fish with. Caught an abundance of catfish and croakers but people fishing around the dock were catching red fish with other bait.
Also caught a sting ray.
Dolphins came up to the dock every day.
Shopping at Tanger Outlet was 15 to 20 minutes away as well as a Super Walmart. Very easy drive to the shopping areas at I-20 at Daphne also. Beach is not far away also.
We loved staying here! the house is beautiful and clean. It was the perfect place for rest and relaxation for 5 adult family members. Every morning we enjoyed watching the pelicans feed and even once a school of dolphins played in the bay right close to the dock behind the property. It was an hours' drive to the wedding of our niece in Mobile, but the drive along scenic 98 was worth it. And so nice to come back to this house where our 82 year old mother could rest. We bought groceries before we got to the house as it is about 20 minutes from Foley where there is plenty of shopping and food. We loved eating at Jesse's right up the road in Magnolia Springs - good food and generous portions, not to mention great southern hospitality. Would recommend this property to as a great place to get away from it all...
When flew into New Orleans, picked up our college-aged daughter and a friend and headed to Alabama. When we first arrived, I was a little disappointed at the location because I thought we would be a lot closer to Fairhope (it takes 20-25 minutes to drive there). This disappointment faded however, when we saw the lovely home--and realized how peaceful the area was.
The house is quite large and immaculately clean. There are three bedrooms--two with King Beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom!! There is also a sun porch with a pull out couch--which is not an idea sleeping situation if you want to sleep in because it is very sunny! While the pull out didn't work for our teen--it would probably work for younger kids.
The living room and dining area look look out of large floor to ceiling windows onto the bay--great for drinking coffee in the morning and watching the sea birds.
The town doesn't really have a grocery (but it does have a sweet little library adopted by Fanny Flagg, the actress). Make sure you shop for your food before you arrive. You will have at least a 15 minute drive to find a grocery store. We decided we wanted to get groceries after we arrived at 9 p.m.--and had to shop at the Dollar Store for the next morning's breakfast. It is not a place with a hopping night life--or lots of stuff to do, which ended up being just what we needed. A great place to relax.
This house is the perfect retreat if you want to get away from it all. It would be great for a family wanting to get together and "hang out."
We are six sisters/cousins who get together to renew relationships and have some girl fun every couple of years. We booked this house as home base while we shopped in Fairhope, ate oysters in Mobile, toured Bellingrath Gardens and Home, dined at Lulu's, and walked the beach at Gulf Shores. It was the perfect spot for all that. The owner has a superb cleaning crew; the house was spotless, spacious, and comfortable! The deck and dock offered views of dolphin and other fish and various sea birds. And during a couple of showers, we enjoyed the glassed in porch and big living room. Great beds & private baths. Recommend for families and friends for a casual, comfortable visit to this beautiful region.
