Directly across from our other property, see listing #309937, this would be perfect for vacationing with family and friends but still have your own place to sleep and relax.

Views of Lake Mitchell while relaxing on large front deck. Open floor plan with master bedroom with queen bed, living area, full bath, kitchen with washer/dryer, free standing bar with two bar stools, gas fireplace, eating area with table all located on the main floor. Main floor is all 3/4' oak except in bath which has porcelain tile.

Overlooking the main floor is two bedrooms with queen bed in one and bunk beds in the other, both with generous closets. Full bath with tile and carpeting in hallway and both bedrooms. Open oak railing looks toward two large skylights in vaulted ceiling and lower living area. Ceiling fans are located in living room and two bedrooms.

Amenities:: Kitchen has microwave, dishwasher, stove, washer/dryer, dinnerware. All linens are included, cooking deck off kitchen area with gas grill. 42'' Plasma TV with DVD/VCR player, stereo with in wall surround sound speakers, front deck with patio set with 6 chairs, rocking bench with fire pit.

Activities:: Swimming, boating, sailing, water skiing, golfing, hiking, water fun park with go carts and putt/putt golf are just a few activities for the summer months. Downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and numerous other pursuits for winter time fun. Caberfae ski and golf is only 12 miles away, seven other championship golf courses are within a few minutes drive. Manistee, Traverse City, and two casinos are all within a 45 minute drive from Cadillac. Downtown Cadillac offers many dining options as well as a great place to stroll the waterfront of Lake Cadillac and browse the many shops the area has to offer.

Area:: Located on the West side of Lake Mitchell you are located on the quiet side of the lake with awesome sunrises between Little cove and Big cove. Lake access close by with a boat launch within a quarter mile. Lake Mitchell is attached by canal to Lake Cadillac which offers bike and jogging trails and a large docking area to pull your boat up to dine and take in the activities of downtown Cadillac.

Our snowmobiling home

We rented the cottage from the end of December through the end of Febuary this year for snowmobiling. It was such an amazing place to stay. They had absolutely everything we needed already in the home, except for food items. This was one of the best winters we have had because of our "home away from home." The owners were so accomodating, they even brought over a tank for the grill so we could make steaks after snowmobiling all day! The fireplace is amazing, and the home is so convenient...right off the lake. We are so appreciative to have had the opportunity to use the house all winter! Thanks Mike and Kim!

Fall Guys Getaway

The guys from my family made our annual trek up north to enjoy the outdoors and hunt our property. This is the second time we stayed at the Shorts' cabin and really appreciated some of the finer things inside. It's a chance for the dads, boys, and uncles to relax, hang out in the woods, and come home to watch Monday Night Football on the big plasma tv. A very nice place, extremely well maintained and clean.

The Mike and Kim are very kind and easy to work with. We look forward to staying at their place in the future.

Awesome place to stay for snowmobiling

I rented this place for the winter for snowmobiling. Dec 08 thru 3-09. This place was perfect. Was warm and cozy all winter and the fireplace was great for relaxing after a day long ride. The beds all slept great and thier was nothing we needed to bring except our clothes and food. The people who rent this are top notch , wonderfull people. You will not be disappointed staying here. Planning to do it again next winter. Thanks

Very nice

We had a good time on our mini-vacation in Cadillac. This house was very nice, immaculate and easy to get to. It was really nice that the owner's other rental house is right across the street because our friends were staying there.

There are only two negatives I can think of. First is that the owner requires Saturday 11am check-out. For us that cut our mini vacation short by a whole day and a half. I think it would be much better if check-out was Sunday, maybe 12pm.

Second, our 7 year old son wanted to watch his Star Wars video's on the TV (which is a beautiful plasma by the way). The only problem is that we could not get the VCR player to play the tapes. Only the video would show, no audio. And the TV upstairs which also has a VCR, did not play the tape either.

Also, and this is not the fault of the house or owner, is that Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell are very shallow lakes. We kept getting our jetski's stuck in the weeds, requiring us to have to get off, swim under the boat and remove the debris.

Overall a very good trip, the area is beautiful and the house was really great.
