Peaceful and private setting situated on 5 acres, on Barter's Island in the Boothbay Harbor Region. From the large screened-in porch watch the lobster men tend their traps or playful colonies of puffins or sea birds. Use our 3 newer kayaks and canoe to explore. We also have WI-FI Watch the seals as they pop their heads above the surface of the waters or the spectacular sunrises. Enjoy nature at its best! We have 615' of water front property. Right around the corner (tip of Barter's Island) is the Sheepscott River and then the Atlantic Ocean. At low tide there are mud flats for playing, digging worms for fishing and other adventures. Use the three kayaks and canoe available, or your own boat from the dock or jump right into the water and swim. The deep water dock and private mooring are ready for your use. This cozy, comfortable home with post and beam construction, offers four bedrooms, living room, dining area, plus breakfast/game table with a well-equipped kitchen

Close by is a picturesque seaport, Boothbay Harbor. that retains the atmosphere of an old New England village. Fishing craft lie alongside wharves that follow the quaint, winding village streets. The Boothbay region's waterfront offers visitors a glimpse of seafaring history and an array of nautical activities on the Maine coast. River cruises, ocean cruises, whale watches, sailing and deep-sea fishing trips leave daily. In addition to all that Boothbay Harbor has to offer, there are also great beaches to explore, hiking, biking and walking right from Caitlin's Cove. If relaxing is more to your liking, sitting and reading on the comfortable screened in porch is a favorite activity. You can watch the birds fly by. There is even a pair of bald eagles that nest close by and fish just off our dock.

    All deposit/security amounts will be returned within two weeks after stay, if there is no damage.

Highlights:: We have Wi-Fi available. Our appliances are new or newer. We have a Large screened-in porch so that even if the weather is not perfect, your environment is. We have lots of games, books, activities for all ages. Relax and enjoy the views from this spacious fully equipped home. 4 twin beds (in two bedrooms), 1 king bed (in separate room and 1 queen bed in a very private downstairs Master suite. A total of over 2100 square feet of living space. All this privacy and yet just minutes away from Boothbay Harbor, its shops and activities. We have three kayaks and a canoe available for our guests. Boats can be conveniently launched and used from the cottage's mooring or dock.

Activities:: Antiquing, Cycling, Fishing, Golf, Horseback Riding, Hunting, Mountaineering, Sailing, Surfing, Swimming, Walking Water Skiing, Boating of All Types. Kayaks and canoe available at the cabin. Whale watching, sunset cruises, Carousel Music Theater, Aquarium, Railway Museum, Lighthouse Tour. Everything you could want

I have stayed at this wonderful home twice and plan on staying again. The owners provide everything you could possibly need. The home is just as described. It is clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The added bedroom downstairs is perfect for people who have trouble using stairs. There are alot of activities in the area and some great restaurants. The owners provide you with a list of restaurants and activities in case you need some ideas. The property is so peaceful and the views are fantastic. I have brought different friends and family with me each time and everyone has loved the place. The owners provide great customer service and are extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here.

More than I expected

What nature didn't provide for a perfect vacation Catlin's Cove did. The thoughtful touches provided by Gretchen and care taken by Wendel and Vickie to insure our comfort made it hard to leave even after a whole month. Our days were filled with sightseeing and eating but the best part of each day was coming home and sitting on the porch.

Can't Wait To Return

Our family and friends have enjoyed Caitlin's Cove for three consecutive years and we are looking forward to returning for two weeks in the summer of 2010. This property is in a beautiful location overlooking the "back river" portion of the Sheepscot River. The sights are breathtaking. The home itself is comfortable and extremely well equipped and the owners have made every effort to provide new appliances. If you want a vacation "away from it all", Caitlin's Cove is the place.

A Real Vacation.

Our third year and it's the one week we never want to end. The location is peaceful, private and quiet yet there's plenty to do to keep the family from getting bored. The house is clean and roomy and just very comfortable. You can see the owners and care takers take a lot of pride in the property and their work.

We spend alot of time on the water seeing the seals, eagles, hawks and fish jumping. We liked boating to differnet stops like the Country Store, Robinson's Wharf and Boothbay Harbor. Following the Cross River up through Ovens Mouth is probably our favorite ride though.

For restaraunts we very much liked Kaler's in Boothbay Harbor. It's a fun family restaurant with good fried clams. We also recommend the lobster roll at the Trevett Country Store and Bett's Fish Fry.

Last but not least we enjoy waving or saying hi to just about everyone you pass on the island. The friendly greetings set the tone for the entire stay.

"Home Away from Home"

This was the seventh year that my family and I have visited the Boothbay region for our summer vacation. We've enjoyed successes and suffered failures in our rentals. This time we "hit a homerun"!

This spacious 4 bedroom home or cottage has everything as described - fully furnished with all you might need or want. By far this house was the cleanest and best maintained of our rentals. Our visit was perfect, except for the weather - the wettest June since 1922 we're told!

Even with the rain and showers, we busied ourselves making puzzles, playing cribbage, fishing, shopping, hiking the trails, AND eating Maine seafood! My 7 and 3/4's old grandson didn't complain and kept himself busy with the available games and crafts. He particularly liked the library of DVD's and VHS movies and making and flying paper airplanes on the front porch. He mostly won our airplane races! Most thrilling was seeing the bald eagle fly by nearly every day! We were able to take pictures of the eagle and lobster boats right from the porch without getting wet.

Previously, we stayed either in or close to downtown Boothbay Harbor. The peace and solitude of this setting more than made up for the 7 or 8 mile drive to town. Simply plan your trips!

We have NO reservations in recommending this vacation rental.
