I am a retired CPA, from my 42 year public accounting practice. I am 75 years old and a big crimson tide fan. I pull for war eagles if not playing the tide. My dear wife of 48 years died in 2008, so i don't need the home full time any more.
Wayne L Riggs purchased this house in 1991
Our family has owned a home on smith lake since 1970. The lake is the cleanest and clearest anywhere. The area around Jasper was a perfect place to raise 4 girls, who now have their own families.
Fishing, boating and water skiing when i was young. you can catch bass and stripe off the swim dock. One of my grandsons caught a 36 pound stripe last year, but not off the dock.
We are all in our 60,s and enjoyed the serenity and beauty of your family lake house. We loved the screened in porch an all of us being able to gather in one place. May God bless you all.
Our stay at your home was great! It had everything that we could think of. The boat rental was excellent. We had plenty of room. We had 4 families with children and everyone had plenty of room. Thanks for letting us stay at your home!
The owner is easily contacted, immediately responsive and most accommodating. The added convenience of a boat rental from him made our family gathering just what we were hoping it would be... both relaxing and exciting.
The home is large and provides all the items listed... some are newer, some not so much... as one should expect at a vacation home. The home is not "new" but it is comfortable. If you are the picky type, you might prefer someplace newer, since there are some age-related items that need attention. However, many of the newer homes we saw from the water while touring Smith Lake do not have what this home has... proximity to the water and a shallow grade from the home to the boat dock. The dock provides a swim platform and ladder.
We would rent again... thanks for loaning us your home and boat.
We had a wonderful time at Smith Lake. We had a total of 18 family members on Saturday, but only 12 staying the full time. My only regret is that it was not handicap accessible. The toilet seats were too low and the bathroom doors would be too small for a wheelchair. WE had plenty of room and it was nice that the young folks could go downstairs and play pool while the older folks could stay upstairs and play cards and dominoes.
The property was clean, owner was very friendly and helpful. Good communicator. Responds quickly. The house was dated, although clean, the hot tub did not work, had no place to tie up my boad as OLD boats were ih the only available slips. I tied up to the (only) side where kleets were installed on floating dock, but one of the dock floaters jetted out a foot or more , hitting the side of the boat. Could not tie upanywhere else, as had no kleets. House very musty, had air purifiers running on both levels. This is a great house for the money if you are seeking a rental house needing to house a lot of people. Great location, right across from Duncan Bridge Marina.
We had a wonderful time!!! Location is perfect. The owner was so helpful. He shared not only his home but rafts etc. We were able to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the lower deck and boathouse. Lived up to all our expectations.
our stay was wonderful. The house was just perfect for our group of twelve, we all had plenty of room. The view from the sunrooms was beautiful, you could see the sun setting from here. We were able to meet the owner of the house, he was in town and he came by to visit and check on us. The owner of the house was very accommodating and was there if we needed anything. We would highly recommend this property , it was clean and well maintained. The photos were accurate and the house was just like our home for the week. The house was located just a few miles from a marina , which had a very nice boat launch.
Duncan Bridge Marina is just across the lake. There are a lot of restaurants and grocery stores in the area CHECK IN 3.00PM , CHECK OUT 10.00 AM.
