Glen Lake is the fifth most beautiful lake in the world according to National Geographic and this cottage is located on that sandy shore. We are in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore that was voted the most beautiful park in the U.S. last year. The Sleeping Bear sand dunes are across the street and 1/2 mile trail leads to the climbing area. Located on West side of Glen Lake on M109 (S. Dune Hwy) among private homes with woods on one side for privacy. 4 miles to Glen Arbor and 5 miles to Empire for groceries, art/craft stores, unique shops, tennis courts. Old Glen Haven, Coast Guard Museum and Lake Michigan beach are 2 miles. Stocking Scenic Drive to top of sand dunes 2 miles. Dunes Golf course 5 miles. Athletic club 4 miles.
Other Activities: We have a large local artist community. Artist studios, art galleries, wine tasting and unique shops all over the Leelanau Peninsula. Glen Arbor Art Fair with 96 artists from all over the country is July 18, 2012. Cherry Festival in Traverse 1st week of July. Crystal River kayaking and tubing in GA, Dunes golf course and 19 other public courses in area. Tennis courts, horse back riding, Glen Arbor Athletic Club, speedboat rentals, water skiing, tubing, charter fishing in Lake Michigan, perch/bass fishing in Glen Lake, hiking the woods. Enjoy the Stocking Scenic drive to the top of the dunes, climb Alligator Hill to view both Glen Lake and Lake Michigan, climb Empire Bluffs, and hike many scenic trails. Tour beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. Relax in the sun and swim in the lake. Look for Petoskey stones on Lake Michigan shore. Enjoy the freshness of spring looking at wildflowers in May/June, sun/sand of July/August, warm September, and outrageous color of October.
