Room was clean. Outlets were plentiful. Wired internet worked fine.
Room was a lot larger than most of the hotels we stayed at in Japan. So was the bathroom. This was a definite plus. Pick up a bus schedule or download it online to figure out how to get around Kyoto. Location is fine so long as you figure out how to use the buses, rent a bike, or enjoy walking.
Kyoto was hot enough during the late summer that clothes could be dried on the balcony or even in the room. Being able to wash your clothes is a definite plus.
Security wise, couldn't have been happier. State of the art door with a key combination lock that you get to set upon the start of your stay ensures that no one but you can get in and out of your room and that you don't have to worry about carrying around a key.
I would definitely stay here again, as it was very cheap considering how nice of a room it was. We didn't end up using the stove, but it was definitely a plus that there was one.
This was our first visit to Japan and look forward to returning. The Duo Inn was a great place to stay and was very affordable. The kitchenette was great for preparing our own meals. The apartment is quiet and secure. The D-type room had more than enough space for two people and the Inn is also very close to public transportation, less than a minute to multiple bus stops and routes and is less than 10 minute walk to the JR train station. The manager was extremely helpful and spoke fluent English. We would definitely recommend a stay at the DUO INN and look forward to a return visit in the future.
This was our first trip to Japan and Kyoto.
Duo Inn was a great place to stay, had plenty of space and was really affordable. The kitchenette was great for preparing our own meals. The apartment is quiet and secure. The D-type room has more than enough space for two people and we had a good sized balcony. The Inn is also very close to public transport, less than a minute to multiple bus stops and routes and is less than 10mins walk from the JR train station. The manager was very, very helpful and spoke excellent English.
We would definitely recommend a stay at the DUO IN.
This was my first trip to Kyoto, Japan. It was an amazing experience. But I got to tell you. Out of all the hotels I stayed at, this was my favorite. Not only was my room very clean and spacious, it gave me that "homey" feel. It had a small kitchen with a fridge, a table to eat on, and even a laundry room. It was like having your very own studio in Japan. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was pretty quiet at night. I got plenty of restful sleep.
Walking distance to a few attractions, plus there's a department store nearby, and a convenience store for late hours, plus the local restaurants.
The staff was very courteous and the manager spoke English. Which is a plus. And he was always there to assist me.
Definitely coming back here.
The Duo Inn is well-maintained, clean, comfortable, quiet, and convenient to public transportation. As a woman staying there alone, I felt very secure. Located on the western side of Kyoto, it is close to Kitano Shrine and the Kinkakuji Temple. The many nearby bus lines provide access to the major Kyoto attractions within a relatively short time. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance and a hot plate, rice cooker, and microwave as well as a refrigerator and basic utensils are in the room if you wish to prepare your own simple meals. The Isumiya supermarket is nearby. The Inn is on the third and fourth floors of the building and there is an elevator. There are also laundry facilities on the second floor. The owner speaks English and is very helpful in providing both written and verbal information about nearby attractions and amenities. I would highly recommend the Duo Inn to anyone wishing a clean, comfortable, affordable accommodation in Kyoto. I enjoyed my stay there and would certainly stay there again.
