Pleasant Bank Riverfront Rentals are located on thirty acres of beautiful fields and woodlands overlooking the french Broad River, on the Old Buncombe Turnpike. Just as it leaves North Carolina and goes into Tennessee.

Where did we get our name? shortly after the 1800's there was a Drover's Inn, on this location.

With accommodations for travelers and drovers who were using the turnpike. A major route for moving cattle, hogs, turkeys and other commodities from Tennessee and Kentucky to market in the south, such as Charleston. This location became know as Pleasant Bank Inn, also a loading point for Ottingers Ferry, crossing the River. The old turnpike road is still located were it was 200 years ago along the beautiful river. In this setting you can enjoy the quietness of the country side and the River. you can often see wildlife such as deer, geese and turkeys, that will some times come into your front yard. We have 2 cabins and in all can sleep 8 people. Today you can enjoy the farm and young orchard along with organic vegetables, and flowers being grown on the family farm.

This is a fourth generation lives here and manages it. We look forward to your stay.

About The Owner

How Pleasant Bank came to be: Sixty years ago my father Ernest was the ‘old man’, now as things go I am the ‘old man’. I was raised on the farm here on the river, with fond memories of hunting and catching loads of catfish from a flat bottom boat on the river, a lot of hard work with many good times. I now have many stories to tell and, a good knowledge of the history of the area going all the way back to around the 1800s, when the first owners were here. The name Pleasant Bank comes from the name of the old ‘drover’s inn’ once located on the property. We chose this name, when we decide to build a rental on the property in hopes that others could enjoy the surroundings just as me and my ‘old man’ has done for nearly a century.

What Do we have to Offer: In addition to the Log House there are many things to see and do around the area. You won’t find the quick food shops, you see all around the country, but there are several good down home restaurants and some very good steak and fish restaurants in the area. You may want to travel to such places as the world famous natural mineral springs and spa, the Appalachian Trail, ski slopes, River fishing and fly fishing, world famous Biltmore house and miles of hiking scenic trails, white water rafting, and biking. Whatever you do it will be remember for a long time.

About the rental: Made of logs, sleeps six, with air condition, Hot tub, full kitchen, all sheets and linens furnished, all you need to do is come prepared to enjoy yourself. The Rental has private access to the river, for fishing, boating, and observation deck for relaxing. Come and enjoy the farm with an orchard fenced in from the abundant wildlife and produce being raised on the farm. I am sure; you will enjoy the area as much as the ‘old man’ of yesteryear and the ‘old man’ of today has done. May God Bless.

What a wonderful weekend! The stay at Pleasant Bank was the perfect ending to 2011 and the perfect beginning to 2012. From the whispering of the creek beside the cabin to the flow of the rapids down river to the majestic mountain view and the sound of a solitary train chugging down the tracks in the silence of the night. Our stay was peaceful, pleasant and a perfect reminder of the simple pleasures that God Has Blessed us with. Thank you for sharing your family's cabin with us.

Great Weekend Away!

We stayed here for this first time this past weekend and the cabins and grounds are just like they look online. Doris and Clyde are wonderful hosts and their property is truly beautiful! The cabins are clean, well furnished and the location is perfect, just down the road from town. We will be back again next year!
