ALWAYS call / email to confirm availability. I have 6 apartments and do my best to accommodate all of my guests.
Someone once told me 'Find a job you love & never work a day in your life' Glad I took that advice! Running Chicago Guest House was the BEST decision I ever made in my life!
Looking back, I probably should have taken a lot more good advice; guess it's never too late! :o)
Teri Smith purchased this apartment in 2005
This is not your typical cookie-cutter rental. At one time I lived in each one of my homes and my personality & style shines through!
My goal has always been to have my Guests experience the sense of having arrived ‘home’ when they walk through the door---to feel as comfortable & relaxed here in Chicago as they do their own home. Each time I read another testimonial; I think to myself. Mission Accomplished!
The Guest House on Lakewood Avenue has three apartments, each floor can be rented separately or rent them together for larger gatherings--up to 21.
It's great to all be under one roof, without being on top of one another--the three separate spaces offer privacy when you need it.
And best of all--the little piece of nature outside the back door. The garden is private & peaceful--perfect place to decompress, relax and enjoy.
The house was in a nice location/neighbor local grocery stores and eatery. The house look just like the pictures which really does it no justice. It was very well stocked, would definitely stay here again and recommend to others hands down the best so far!!
My family needed a place to stay in Chicago for a wedding. There were 7 adults and 4 children. The Chicago Guest House fulfilled all of our needs and more!
When we arrived there was a crib, highchair, and baby gate, for the stairs, waiting for us! The home is so well equipped and clean that we wanted for nothing.
It's location was perfect for us. Walking distance to the grocery store, drug store, cute shops, and restaurants.
Teri was a pleasure to work with. Always so friendly and on top of everything!
Thank you Chicago Guest House! We hope to return some day.
This place was perfect. I knew the location was going to be great, but only 3 blocks from the Wrigleyville could not have been more convenient. We could walk to anywhere we needed to go in 15 minutes or less. I came from Florida and met 5 friends at the house. The trip for Ohare was easy, whether by train or car. The house itself was beautiful. 2 floors, 5 room, and 6 beds. Appliances were top of the line and it was furnished for us all to sit together comfortably. The garage was a nice bonus as well as the many street parking stickers provided. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were pleasant. We will be back!
The overall experience was excellent. Teri was quick to respond to inquiries prior to our arrival. We found the home to be the perfect place for our family reunion. It gave us privacy when needed and great places to get together. The easy access to Wrigley Field, restaurants, groceries and transportation was wonderful. We would highly recommend this guesthouse to others.
Eighteen of us just returned from a long weekend trip - Cubs game, B.L.U.E.S., and WhiskeyFest! What an absolutely wonderful home to base out of. We rented all three floors, and spent time on each, rotating each day's breakfast and nightly appetizers and drinks. Each couple had their own room, plenty of space to sit and enjoy a morning's cup of coffee, and easy, easy access to the city of Chicago. Just three blocks from Wrigley Field, about the same to either the Red or Brown line, and wonderful stores and shops on North Southport. This house had it all, from the wonderfully helpful Teri to a cleaning crew that made sure we came in to a well-appointed home.
Everything is there to make sure you are comfortable and secure. Great backyard with a grill and patio seating, two-stall garage and one additional space next to it, and a comfortable front porch to watch the many dog walkers and joggers in the neighborhood. Can't say enough about how great things were, and the coffee that was provided to us was outstanding.
Whether you rent one, two or all three floors, this is an exceptional find. Thanks again Teri.
I highly recommend this place for a group/family getaway! The house is beautifully decorated, clean, and really well-kept. Lots of character and really feels like a home. The pictures do not fully do it justice. The owner keeps the house fully stocked of everything you could ever need! She was excellent to work with -- great customer service. The place was absolutely perfect for our group getaway and really made for a great experience in Chicago. This is definitely the place to stay!!
LAKEVIEW / WRIGLEYVILLE
Home to our beloved Cubs. Whether you get to see a game or not, you don't want to miss taking a stroll over to the corner of Clark and Addison to see one of baseball’s oldest ball parks nestled among the historic greystone buildings that make up this charming neighborhood—a beautiful sight!
Spend the day shopping Southport Avenue’s trendy boutiques and Belmont Avenue’s quirky shops and vintage stores for those one of a kind finds!
THE NIGHT LIFE
Live music and dancing for the young and old alike
'OFF LOOP' THEATRES
Comedy & Improv at it’s best--guaranteed a good time!
Tamales to Tiramisu --the dining choices are endless!
Though you may be tempted to never leave the neighborhood, it would be a shame to miss out on all the city has to offer! Jump on either a Brown or Red Line train--either will take you direct to downtown and all of Chicago's attractions!
Or if you're up to the challenge, walk or ride along the spectacular lakefront to downtown. Divvy Bikes are available in the neighborhood and there is really no better way to really see this amazing city! Ride alongside the beautiful boat filled harbors, and through the lush and colorful gardens of Lincoln Park and while you’re there, catch a glimpse of some of the animals at the zoo. And though it’s only a four mile ride, you may enjoy a little energy break at one of the three beach side bistro's along the way! Once downtown, you can park the bike at any of hundreds of stations throughout the city.
