SO MUCH TO SEE AND DO

Enjoy fun activities and events year-round at Squaw Valley. Check out what's happening at The Village at Squaw Valley and The Resort at Squaw Creek. From Squaw Valley enjoy easy access to beautiful Lake Tahoe, plus shops and cafes in Tahoe City and historic Truckee.

YEAR-ROUND DESTINATION

Plan now for your Tahoe vacation get-away in Squaw Valley. There's fun and adventure any time of year.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Squaw Valley is located approximately halfway between Truckee (8 miles) and Tahoe City (5 miles) on beautiful Lake Tahoe.

SQUAW VALLEY TURNOFF

When driving on Highway 89 from either Truckee or Tahoe City, look for the turn-off to Squaw Valley USA. It's hard to miss the memorable signage -- those Olympic torches are still burning brightly. The Olympic Rings honor the 1960 Winter Olympic Games -- which put Squaw Valley on the map.

419 WINDING CREEK ROAD

Our vacation home at 419 Winding Creek Road is approximately one-half mile from the turnoff on Highway 89 to Squaw Valley. Squaw Valley Road is the main thoroughfare. Our property is adjacent to Squaw Valley Road and the bridge across Squaw Creek.

EASY COME EASY GO

Hop on the Squaw Creek shuttle, just steps from the front door. Frequent shuttles run up and down SV Road, from The Resort to The Village. The shuttle offers flexibility so everyone can come and go as they please. The option to use the shuttle is helpful for families and/or groups.

THE SHUTTLE TAKES YOU THERE

The shuttles run up and down Squaw Valley, day and night. Leave your car parked in the driveway.

THE VILLAGE

At the base of the mountain is The Village at Squaw Valley. Once there, it's easy access to stroll to shops, cafes and various activities. There's several ways to access the slopes.

THE RESORT

On the opposite side end of the valley, across the meadow, the shuttle stops at the luxurious Resort at Squaw Creek. Enjoy the wonderful sights at The Resort, and choose your favorite restaurants, shops and sports activities.

EXTEND YOUR REACH

If you're thnking ahead for the ski season, Squaw Valley and its partner resort, Alpine Meadows, are not far from other ski resorts: Homewood, Sugar Bowl and North Star. Google individual resorts for more information.

PLAN AHEAD

It's never to soon to think about how scenic and relaxing Squaw Valley is all-year round: winter, spring, summer and fall are hard to beat.

MAIN LIVING LEVEL

The main living level is upstairs, on the second floor. Many windows let in lots of light. So the 'The Great Room' is inviting and cheerful. The open floor plan combines kitchen, dining and living rooms. Sliding glass doors open to a deck with firewood or in summer, BBQ, table and chairs.

The upstairs also includes the Master Bedroom and bath.

DINING

The generous dining table seats six. With two additional chairs. The kitchen counter has a breakfast bar with stools.

WIFI

A bay window alcove features a small table/desk with two chairs, perfect for your laptop -- FREE wifi.

LIVING ROOM

Living room seating includes a sofa, loveseat and built-in seating by the river rock fireplace hearth. Hand-crafted iron fireplace doors showcase Olympic Rings.

BEDROOMS

All three bedrooms have a queen-size bed with distinctive bed frame and designer bedding.

UPSTAIRS -- MASTER BEDROOM & BATH

The Master Bedroom and Bath are tucked off the main living level. A new wood-fold door separates the Master from the Great Room. This bedroom features a walnut sleigh bed with antique bedside tables and chest of drawers.

DOWNSTAIRS -- TWO BEDROOMS & SHARED BATH

The middle bedroom has a queen bed with antique brass bed frame and antique oak wash stand.

The larger bedroom has a queen bed with pine headboard and painted chest of drawers. Plus there's a trundle bed for kids.

About Julie Nachtwey

We enjoy coming to our mountain get-away in Squaw Valley any time of year. Our family has enjoyed Tahoe for more than 20 years. We fell in love with Squaw Valley when our sons skiied with the Squaw Valley Ski Team. At long last we purchased our 'fixer' house in 2000. It needed remodeling, so we spent a lot of time that first summer driving to Tahoe. We discovered how beautiful and fun Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe are year-round.

Our older son eventually specialized in competitive Telemark skiing. He lived in the house with friends and his future wife for six years. Now both our sons are in their 30's. We don't get to Tahoe so often anymore, and are happy to share our lovely home with others.

Julie Nachtwey purchased this house in 2000

Why Julie Nachtwey chose Squaw Valley - Olympic Valley

The Squaw Valley shuttle rus between The Resort at Squaw Creek and The Village at Squaw Valley. This shuttle is a great amenity, with pickup at the corner of our street, just steps from the front door. Being close to the main road was a priority. First, Squaw Valley Road always gets plowed first. So one can always get on the shuttle and to the slopes. Second, everyone can come and go independently. It's easy to get back to the house for a hot lunch or to retrieve gear left behind. No need for a car in the Valley.

What makes this house unique

We appreiate easy access to the amenities offered by The Village at Squaw Valley and The Resort at Squaw Creek. It's easy to get around to various activities: ski school, shops, cafes, restaurants, grocery & wine stores, and more. There are lots of special events, as well. We love watching the dog sleds moving across the snow-covered valley floor. At night we gaze in amazement at the bright stars so visible against the dark sky. The air at Squaw Valley is filled with the smell of evergreen trees. Squaw Valley offers such a complete package that sometimes we never feel the need to leave the valley at all.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Here is my review:

Subject-- Great Location, ideal place for the family

We had a very tough situation when I decided to take my family to Sqaw Valley/Tahoe City especially to see the fireworks at Tahoe City on July4th. We had only one day to get a rental vacation home and I called many places and finally ended up calling Julie. She called back on July 4th morning and we settled everything in couple of hours.

We saw one of the best fireworks shows in Tahoe City (Lake) which is just a couple of miles from this house. This home is perfect for the family, two stories, very exciting for the kids, they had their own rooms. There were lots of games, puzzles etc. Kitchen was fully equipped and I loved the dining table (nice artsy dining table). The house was in excellent condition. The patio/balcony was the ideal place to have family breakfasts. The Squaw Village up the road has lots of entertainment, like cable car rides, swimming, miniature golf etc. Lots of activities for kids that are really fun. The whole family loved the rafting trip on the Truckee River. Overall a great experience, we loved the place and would surely recommend it others.

We stayed there during Lake Tahoe Ironman. This is right on the bike/run course was a perfect location for my family to spectate. It is also about 2 miles from the finish which also makes it super convenient.

The owners were very helpful and went the extra mile to ensure that our stay was very enjoyable. I would definitely stay there again....the location and home are beautiful!

Nice character to the place

  • 5 of 5
This comfortable pad has personality. The kitchen, which is open to the great room, is on the second floor. There's a soaring ceiling opening to skylights. Everyone will want to congregate there to cook, eat and relax. The master is also on the second floor and also has the high ceilings and great light, giving the room an airy feeling. Easy access to Squaw - we did a short run there and back most days. The only downside is that traffic going up to Squaw is audible during the day.

Great place, super renter friendly and great location

  • 5 of 5
Ive rented a lot of places in Olympic valley and this place is the best value I have come across. The owners have done a great job making the place clean, very well organized and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The layout is very nice and the fireplace works well. The house is trimmed throughout in old growth clear redwood, with some nice curlywood in places- someone spent a lot of time on it. The backyard is huge and the nearby creek is a plus. The traffic can be a bit noisy with the patio door open but closed you can barely hear it. Ive rented places that are 3 times as expensive and more modern and a bit larger, but this place is completely beyond adequate for my large family and has a nice vibe to it. I will definitely rent it again and spend the money saved on upgraded season passes.

Amazing!!!

This place is Amazing! This place is super comfortable. The house was true to the pictures. The location was perfect, just over a mile to Squaw Village. The free shuttle picks up outside the door! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to have home cooked meals instead of eating out. The owner does a great job of maintaining the house. The owner is readily available for questions. I would definitely stay here again!!!

Excellent location

  • 4 of 5
This VRBO in Olympic Valley is in a perfect location to use both Squaw Valley and Alpine ski areas, plus it is an easy distance to Lake Tahoe City or Truckee. This home is roomy, comfortable, and very nicely appointed. We enjoyed our stay there and would rent again.

Simply Perfect

  • 5 of 5
I stayed in this home for the Ironman Lake Tahoe event, which was on Sept. 22, 2013. The location was perfect...right on the end of the bike course and on the run course. The house was everything we could have asked for. Cozy, close to attractions, comfortable; it had everything we needed. The owner called soon after my arrival to check on how things were with the house and ask if she could do anything for us. She called again towards the end of our stay to ask the same things. The pictures don't do this property justice! I would most definitely recommend staying here, and if I ever return to Lake Tahoe, this is where I will be staying!
