Condo, 3 Bedrooms, 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

We purchased the penthouse condo literally sight-unseen based on a friend’s recommendation and we were glad we did. Located within Storm Meadows at Christie Base, the location is premier with true ski-in/out access. In the mornings our snow conditions report is out the back door. We ski/board down to the Christie Lift. At lunch we come back to the condo and eat in the dining area looking overlooking the slopes. At the end of the day, a soak in the hot tub, a few minutes in the sauna then off to Ski Time Square for dinner and drinks, just 200 yards from the condo. When we head into downtown Steamboat Springs, we just hop the free shuttle from Ski Time Square.

We designed the interior to be impressive yet comfortable. When guests arrive there is a “wow” factor. From the slate entry to the expansive slope views to the designer furnishings and double-height ceilings. The first level of our home is the entertaining/living level with a living room dominated by a 20’+ moss-rock gas fireplace with blower, a 42” flat-screen (can be seen from the slopes) and a sofa and chairs you just want to plunge into. The dining area seats 8 at bistro height to allow viewing of the television and DVD’s when not listening to the stereo. The kitchen, expansive is fully equipped and there is a full bathroom on this level as well. The living room opens to a balcony with beautiful views from the morning sun on the slopes to the twinkling lights of the valley floor. While daytime is impressive, our designer installed pin-point halogens and designer lighting to truly enhance the evenings. Do not be surprised to see skiers and boarders looking up at the unit from the slopes, it’s that impressive at dusk.

Upstairs (our designer replaced the spiral staircase with straight stairs) is three large bedrooms. The master bedroom offers a queen bed, designer bedding, built-in lighting, a large television and a ceiling fan with expansive glass facing west onto the slopes. The second bedroom is a Jr. Master with a modern queen bed, designer bedding, flat-screen television and built-in halogen lights. The third bedroom which we consider a “family suite” offers two individual twin beds with designer bedding, a fold-out full sleeper and a flat-screen TV, perfect for children or adults as the room lays out as a suite. On this level, there is a full bathroom and a ¼ bath as well. Wireless internet is available throughout the condo and all rooms have individual thermostats.

Our unit is annually shown to Central Reservations of Steamboat Springs as an example of an “A” rated unit. While we spend months renovating the interior from solid pine doors and designer carpeting, we must admit, the amenities and location are just as impressive.

New for 2011/2012 is at condo check-in by our local on-site who is one of the finest concierge' in Steamboat. Once you arrive at our building and park, guests take the elevator to the top floor as our condo is the top two-levels of the building, no noisy neighbors above. In the building is a sauna and changing room as well as an individual “ski-locker” which is just 5’ away from the access to the slopes. Adjacent to the building is a new outdoor hot tub locked and only accessible to guests insuring privacy.

As mentioned we start the day by skiing out of the building to the base area and jump on the lift. Midday we usually drift back to the condo for lunch (even though Ragnar’s on the mountain should not be missed). In the evenings, we use the same ski-slope door to access Ski Time Square, the base area of Mt. Werner. For casual we suggest The Tugboat, a great restaurant/bar and the game-room in the back will entertain kids and adults alike. Heading to downtown Steamboat? Leave the car in the lot. About 100 yards from the back-door is a stop for the free in-town shuttle.

For us the condo is not an investment, it is a lifestyle. We designed the condo for guests to truly feel comfortable and to enjoy a carefree vacation at one of the finest ski resorts in the world. Our on-site management company provides guests access 24/7. For guests we provide the full vacation package as free time is so valuable, why waste it on inferior lodging and location.

About The Owner

As a travel consultant and 20+ year resident of Colorado I understand what guests desire in a vacation rental. Since acquiring the condo a few years back my mission has been to make the condo and vacation experience as enjoyable for guests as it is for my family. A true escape from the pressures of home to a retreat in the mountains of Colorado.

Why The Owner chose Steamboat Springs

We have vacationed throughout Colorado and reside in Denver. We chose Steamboat due to its diversity of ski terrain, the charm of a true historic mountain town and lack of crowds, even during high-season. The icing on the cake was the ability to purchase a ski-in/out condo while also being able to walk to restaurants and nightlife. When we are on vacation, we do not wish to drive or shuttle, we want convenience and easy access to all the amenities.

What makes this condo unique

When we bought the condo our singular reason was the amenity of ski-in/out. There is a true luxury of being able to walk out the back door in ski boots, snap on our skis and ski down to the lift. In the evenings we suggest a dip in the hot-tub, the views are amazing. For the pulled muscles, the sauna is heaven. Beyond the condo be sure to enjoy the amenities in and around the area from natural hot springs to gourmet dining to affordable family activities. We are so happy with our condo and we know you will be too.

We are located adjacent to the R-O-W run, above the Christie Club. We chose the location as we desired true-ski-in/out yet also the ability to walk to Ski Time Square for apres-ski (OK, I admit I also walk to Daz Bog for my morning coffee, not to worry we have a coffee maker in the unit, I just like to support the local economy).

While Steamboat is known as one of the finest ski resorts in the country, as PT locals we know there is so much more to the area beyond our ski hill. Apres ski at the base area is a blast. We purchased the condo so we could walk to the base area at the end of the day. We love The Tugboat for casual fare (kids love the game room), Café Diva for a special dinner and Paramount for cocktails.

During the winter months we love the on-mountain dinner options. Since the mountain closes in the afternoon, best to walk to the gondola from our unit, it is about a 5 minute walk)

We use the Ski Time Square bus stop for access to downtown via free bus.

The town of Steamboat Springs is an actual working town and county seat about 2-3 miles away from the base area. Lincoln Avenue, the main street offers visitors a quaint view of the Rocky Mountain West intermixed with locally owned shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and a striking example of art-deco design of our county building.

FM Light & Sons is a must visit for authentic western wear at local prices. Howelson Hill is great for tubbing. Heading into downtown, the natural hot springs are open to the public offering day admission passes/

Strawberry Park is our most well-known hot springs, about 8 miles from our condo. Due to the roads, in winter we strongly suggest taking one of the shuttle services. During the daylight hours it is a festive family atmosphere. After dark the springs are clothing optional. However not to worry, between the darkness and steam rising from the springs, even the most reserved will be comfortable.

Be sure to take some time and explore the Town of Steamboat. It is charming and authentic which is rare in most resorts. Locals are friendly, most establishments are family-oriented and overall safe and inviting. We guarantee your first visit will not be your last.

Great location and service, odd unit layout

Overall my group of 6 adults had a great time staying here. This is a pretty standard unit (despite all the flowery narrative), but in a wonderful location and at a fair price. Check-in was super easy: Tim is friendly, punctual and ready to help whenever needed. The unit was very clean, bathrooms and bedrooms were nice (nothing super special), same goes for the kitchen. Speaking of bathrooms, the layout is definitely odd, with one of the full bathrooms on the first floor right next to the front door and kitchen - about as far a walk as possible from the bedrooms.

For us, Tim is a partner in our overall desire to enhance the VRBO rental experience when visiting Steamboat. Tim brings a long history of hospitality experience and we are truly glad to have him as our liaison for our guests.

Concerning the standard unit description, we have consistently been rated as an "A" unit and with the two separate levels (connection by a straight staircase, not a spiral) the unit is quite unique when compared to a standard one-level condominium with 8’ ceilings, small windows and track lights.

As a real estate broker, I purchased the unit based on not only the ski-in/out location (and the ability to walk to Ski Time Square) but also because of the interior accouterments including but not limited to the 22' ceiling heights in the living area, the moss rock fireplace and double-height windows overlooking the ROW run and Christie Express Lift. In addition the vaulted ceilings in the bedrooms are we believe actually quite unique when compared to most cookie-cutter condos in ski resort communities throughout Colorado. We believe the pictures truly support the prose and accurate description presented. We also enjoy when skiers look up at dusk in awe when the unit is fully lighted.

With reference to the 1st level bathroom, that bathroom is more of a bonus. By having the additional full bathroom, it allows those on the main level i.e. living, dining, kitchen and so forth the option of having a full bathroom instead of having to go upstairs to the other bathrooms. Honestly we have never had a guest comment about the placement of the bathroom, only to advise having the additional full bathroom was an amenity especially when the unit is used to full guest capacity.

Please note, we are in the process of replacing the counters in the kitchen and the vanities in the bathroom to be more in style with the renovation of the rest of the unit. (We replaced the kitchen cabinets in 2012 with a custom design generated out of New York City). Due to the expansive and multiple countertop levels in the kitchen (including the breakfast bar) and the larger than standard vanities in the bathroom, we have had to employ custom fabricators from the Denver area to facilitate the work.

A Most Peaceful Escape

Growing up in Colorado, I've stayed in many, many mountainside houses and condos. Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper, Vail, Beaver Creek, Snowmass - they've all be great; yet, there is something special about this place in Steamboat. Maybe it's the tranquility of the gentle breeze blowing through the aspens. Maybe it's the morning walk with the pup down to the base area. Maybe it's the winding drive up to Strawberry Park Springs. Or maybe it's all of these knowing that you're peacefully staying right in the middle of all of it. Like any great car or piece of furniture, the beauty is in the details that you don't see. That is true here. All of the essentials of home are where they should be. Feel like staying in and making a pizza? Open the oven and there's a pizza stone. Back aching after grueling day of outdoor adventure? Take the elevator down to the hot tub or sauna. Just want to make drinks and enjoy the scenery? Turn on the sound system, switch on the fire, open the balcony, and watch the passersby as they wave up to you. It's the first place that I've stayed at that truly feels like a home away from home. That's saying something. This condo has everything you need. And nothing you don't. The perfect escape.

Highly recommend this condo! Incredible view of the mountain from the deck, close to ski town. It was quiet and liked the fact the bedrooms were upstairs away from the kitchen and living area. Tim was very accommodating and has great input on places to go eat and hang out for the evening. Plenty of room with 2 showers and a vanity outside the upstairs bathroom with a sink which made it easy for everyone to get ready. My group had a great time and would describe our stay as "priceless." Looking to rent it again in the winter.

Perfect ski vacation

We skied during president's week and had the most amazing snow ever!!
We had an extended family vacation. The condo was spacious for our group of seven and well laid out. Great location. It was so nice to avoid the lodge and come back to the condo for lunch. Owner was informative and helpful. Property manager was readily available and also very helpful. Definitely would recommend Steamboat and this condo!

After a few $50 lunches on the mountain, we learned and ski back, eat lunch and head to the gondola and back up until Apres-Ski at The Tugboat.

What a location! And what a professional and warm welcome!

The place is amazing, very nice, very comfortable, surprisingly spacious, and the location cannot be beat. The owner is incredibly professional and responsive, and the concierge greeted us with a smile, a great attitude and delicious home-made chilly! If you are coming in from out of town I would highly recommend his cooking talents and hire him as your personal chef for the stay.
The location is the best, you practically ski right to the ski-lockers and then it’s a short elevator ride up to the place where you can put on your swim-suit and head to the hot tub or sauna. There are great views from the hot-tub but the sauna takes a bit to heat up. The only thing we missed was a pool but that’s not that big of a deal.
It’s fun to walk down to the village area and it’s packed with great food and watering holes. I can’t wait to book this place again!
