Laura R. Fields
I'm Laura R. Fields and I manage the River House. I moved to Saluda, NC in 1981 and have worked on Main Street ever since. I am service oriented and love my community where I have been a City Commission, sat the Board of Directors of the Polk County Community Foundation, the WNC Salvation Army and produce our annual Saluda Children's Christmas Workshop. I'm a daughter, wife, mother, business woman, neighbor and friend.
The River House provides its guests with peace and because of its unique setting. Two sides of the property are bordered by Joel's Creek and the Pacolet River, a NC Wildlife River. You can enjoy the rushing waters by sitting on the deck which sits just a few feet away from the river or by sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. The log cabin epitomizes a mountain feeling, not only with the water but it backs up to acres and acres of forests. As a bonus, it's walking distance to Pearson's Falls, an historic waterfall sitting on a 450 acre preserve...it's a beautiful hike down rock and moss covered pathways and ending at the famous Pearson' Falls, a beautiful and pristine natural wonder. Saluda holds lots of opportunities for outdoor adventure...the Gorge is a new addition...a canopy zip line descending 1100' feet down the Green River Gorge, overlooking thousands of undeveloped acres. If you like water sports, you can hire a guide to take you down the Green River on a raft or kayak or rent a tube and fishing is a great option. Just a short ride from Saluda is the Dupont State Forest with 11 hiking, bike and horse trails, the Pisgah National Forest and Holmes State Park. The NC Arboretum is just 30 minutes away along with the Biltmore Estate, the largest home in America. There is so much to do or you can choose to sit on the river and do nothing at all.
