Casa Colibrí (Hummingbird House), our beloved second home, is a spacious house with excellent modern furnishings and traditional Mexican decor and artwork. Built of adobe, indoor temperature is always comfortable. It is nestled in a mountainous valley only 15 minutes from downtown but lightyears away from the bustle and noise of the city. Each morning, walk up the foothills of Benito Juárez National Park or sit on the terrace and watch the spectacular, ever-changing views of the mountains and the valley. An ideal place to rest and recharge your batteries after busy days touring all that Oaxaca has to offer. The rental prices include all the following features and amenities: Four well-appointed bedrooms and four tile baths, Upper and lower living rooms, with two small fireplaces. Notes: You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at Casa Colibri. Mr Manlio Gonzalez, our excellent administrator, will meet you when you arrive and show you how everything works. He will be available to take care of any need that arises. He speaks English and is always willing to help as well as to share tips about what to see and do. Our neighbors are very friendly and helpful as well. Several speak English, some are ex-pats who know the region very well.

AT&T long distance and fax telephone service, the least expensive in Mexico, with itemized electronic billing (deposit of US$100.00 requested). Washing machine and clothes-lines (no dryer). Oaxaca has most everything. Our area is famous for birding, hiking, native markets and archaeological sites (such as Monte Alban), craft villages and events in the city of Oaxaca.

Swimming resorts are only a few minutes away in neighboring San Sebastian, Etla

Casa Colibri is a wonderful Oaxacan retreat. It is very comfortable and has wonderful, relaxing views from the back of the house. Both my wife and I spend a lot of time writing, reading, and walking and for people like us the house is ideal. Also, it is just a short drive (or bus or cab ride) to food stores, Oaxaca’s famous restaurants, and activities at the Zocalo. Another attraction is that the neighbors are mostly English-speakers with very interesting backgrounds and willing to go out of their way to make one feel welcome.

We have stayed at Casa Colibri for extended periods during the last three years and plan to return this year. We walk our talk.

Beautiful home with great amenities

My stay at Casa Colibry was Great!

The owners did a great job at describing the house as well as its surroundings. The house was kept very clean and neat and found that it had everything necessary for vacationing (well equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and a lot of sleeping space).

Whenever friends mention that they are going to Mexico I always rave about Oaxaca and tell them that Casa Colibri is a great place to stay in. I like the proximity to the city and really appreciate the fact that it's not in the middle of town; it gives you the options of enjoying a relaxing day without stress as well as the ability to go in to town to enjoy the day and night life which Oaxaca has to offer.

All and all Oaxaca is a great city to vacation in and Casa Colibri is the perfect place to stay!!

The house is great, i went only for one week but i would have been great to stay for a month. The view from the back of the house is beautiful and there's a lot of space to do nothing else than rest and have a good time. But the best is that is 15 min away from downtown Oaxaca, a great city, and very near many archeological sites, most of which are very important in mexican culture.
A place to go back again, and again, and again.
