Area: Our Oceanfront Vacation Condo Rental in Kona Hawaii is only 8 miles from the airport. It takes roughly 6 hours to drive completely around the Big Island and it is larger than all the other islands put together. Hawaii, 'The Big Island', is the youngest and largest of the Hawaiian Islands with 4,038 square miles and is still growing as long as the lava continues to spew out of Kilauea. It has 266 miles of coastline. Of all the islands, Hawaii's Big Island is the most ecologically diverse, with natural environments from the desert plains of Ka'u to the rain forests above Hilo, to snowcapped Mauna Kea.
