We have lived in the Taos area for over 25 years and are very familiar/connected with the outdoor opportunities in the area including hiking, biking, rafting, climbing and skiing. We have two teenagers, one at home and one off to college. We have a sweet old chocolate lab named Nibbles. We both work professional jobs in the town of Taos.
The Owner purchased this house in 1992
This casita shares the 1.5 acres that our home sits on. We had it built so that we would have a place for friends to stay when they came to visit, and as an investment opportunity. Taos and Arroyo Seco have so much to offer every season. It is a unique and special place.
The quietness and privacy is great for people who want to get out of the hustle bustle, but still want to be able to go have coffee, lunch or in a quaint little town nearby. And, with skiing so close, it makes it a great vacation rental for skiers. the location is perfect that way!
This little casita is the ideal getaway just outside of Taos. Equipped with everything you would need, the space is clean and classically Southwest with the saltillo tile floors, adobe walls and vega ceilings. The views are vast and the setting is just pristine. Just a ten minute drive into town, we enjoyed all that Taos had to offer (Love Apple for dinner was amazing) and then retreated back to this quiet casita. It was fun driving through the little village of Arroyo Seco on the way, a charming little place with restaurants, art studios and a few shops. Can't wait to return for a longer stay. Thank you, Sandy and John!
This is a nice little casita, clean and comfortable. It's only a short drive to Taos proper. The area is quiet and close to hiking. I would recommend this property. (Note: the actual rental price was higher than the advertised price.)
John & Sandy are great hosts. Everything is provided. It's quiet, close to everything & very private. Nibbles is a very friendly dog. Could not be happier.
I have stayed in various places around Taos and this is the nicest. The casita is gorgeous, very clean, southwest style decor, and everything you could possibly need. The area is great, Arroyo Seco is a quaint little town between Taos and Ski Valley with its own little shops and places to eat. The casita sits in a little meadow with beautiful wildflowers and a magnificent view of the mountains. The owners, Sandy and John, are very welcoming and wonderful hosts. I look forward to next July in the same casita!!
What a perfect place. We always travel with our two small dogs and had been staying at the different pet "friendly" motels in Taos. Financially...the Casita was not much more than the motels but to have all the surrounding land and peace and quiet was awesome!!! Beautiful views and what a cute little house. The owners are great and we were left to enjoy ourselves. We will be back!!!
We were delighted with our three-week stay at the Casita. It was exactly what we were looking for - a quiet, uncrowded, private location with open, sweeping views of the Taos valley and beyond. Tucked up against the foothills at 8,000 feet elevation, the setting is magnificent - well worth the 15-20 minute drive to the historic Taos Plaza or the short drive to the quaint town of Arroyo Seco. A drive in almost any direction yields varied and beautiful scenery. The Casita itself is a very charming adobe-style building with viga-plank ceilings, plaster walls and saltillo tile floors. It sits well apart from the owners' and other homes in an open meadow. The outside deck is a nice amenity and a great place to view the spectacular sunsets. Inside, the Casita has a light, open, uncluttered feeling and a convenient floor plan. It's furnishings and fully-equipped kitchen allow for easy living. The Casita was very clean and as described in the listing. The owners were very friendly and accommodating - most helpful with our special requests. At the same time, they were respectful of our privacy. We'd recommend the Casita to anyone who wants a quiet, romantic setting away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Taos.
