Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 12-13)

This family lakefront property has been in the Stanton family for four generations. The original log cabin was replaced in the early 1980s by an architect designed spacious house that can comfortably hold a crowd or be intimate enough for a small group. It is situated on a large lakefront lot on the eastern shore of North Lake Leelanau with private woods to the south and deck overlooking the lake. The sunsets are breathtaking. This house provides easy access to the water with a long pier and unique recreational dock. Boat launch is just 1/2 a mile down the road from the house. We also enjoy the only private marina on the lake so guests can easily dock their boats, ski-dos or a pontoon boat (available for rental in Lake Leelanau). The lakefront area is safe and easy for swimming and the water is crystal clear. There is no sandy beach at our site, but Netto's Beach is reachable by boat right across the lake. Sunny rear patio is great for windy days and is off the kitchen for easy outdoor cooking. There is an outdoor shower and a fire pit for lakefront campfires.

The house includes:

a large, comfortable master bedroom with private bath.

Guest bedroom with two twin beds and semi-private full bath.

And two great bunk rooms with eight twin beds total and a full bath.

LARGE lake viewing living/dining room with seating for LOTS of people inside, not including all the outside areas for BBQ. The sunsets from the house are unimaginable.

The house is set up with quiet and social zones so kids and adults can enjoy the house and not be on top of each other. ALSO, owner is offering access to a unique tree house campsite on an adjacent property that overlooks their private ten acre meadow. Location is across the road from the Lake House (easy walking distance). The Lake House a one of a kind place that is rarely available for rental. You'll love it. We do.

About The Owner

Our family has been in Northern Michigan since the 1800's. We have a family run cherry farm in Lake Leelanau and even though I live in Northern California, I try to spend as much time as I can every summer in Leelanau.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1980
Why The Owner chose Lake Leelanau

This property was purchased by my grandfather many years before I was born. He and my father built a large log cabin here in the 50's as well as the boat house, pier and marina. That original cabin was replaced in the early 80's with a larger, architect designed family home. The view never changes. It is as gorgeous as ever.

What makes this cottage unique

Here are some of the things i really appreciate about Lake Leelanau and the Lake House in particular: warm, sunny days, balmy nights, occasional dramatic thunder storms, incredible sunsets, hardly any boat traffic on the lake (quiet), kayaking across the lake to Carp River and Leland, the amazing beach at Van's on Lake Michigan, sidewalk sales in August, great food at the Riverside Inn, golfing at Leland Country Club (which is open to the public in fall.)

EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTIFUL FALL COLORS AND WONDERFUL WINERIES IN LEELANAU COUNTY. We are located within 5-10 minutes of some outstanding wineries. Leelanau County is fast becoming "The Napa Valley" of the Midwest! Great canoe trips on the Crystal River, bike trails from Suttons Bay to Traverse City, charter fishing trips onto Lake Michigan, beautiful white sandy beaches everywhere, vineyards and cherry orchards, fantastic folk art galleries, great yoga studio in Lake Leelanau. For boat owners, there is a nice easy launch site just 1/2 a mile down the road from our house. Paddle across the lake to Fish Town in Leland for great dining, shopping and Van's Beach on Lake Michigan. It's a great location for visiting the charming villages of Suttons Bay, Northport or Leland. And it's just 20-30 minutes to Traverse City. There is a fantastic bike path from Suttons Bay into Traverse as well that we highly recommend. Great golf courses too. Lots to do!

Great Lake House

Our family had a fantastic stay at this very comfortable lake house on Lake Leelanau. The layout of the house is very conducive to having separate space for families or for the kids, and also has a large common area. Furnishings are comfortable, and the kitchen quite nice for preparing family meals. The outdoor spaces are very spacious and private. The location on the east side of the lake is perfect for watching the sunset at the end of the day. We enjoyed the pool table, kayaks, grill and fire pit throughout our stay. The local family owners are very nice people, and nearby in case any questions/issues come up. We look forward to our next stay!

We can't say enough to really describe our stay at this house on Lake Leelanau. The house and the grounds are much larger than they appear in the photos. The house has several fire places and is perfect for warm or cold whether. The lake is excellent for sporting and is beautiful (I live on a lake) and the house has more than what you would expect of a vacation rental.

We stayed in the Spring and once in the Winter. We recommended the house to two different groups of friends who later reserved and loved the house, as well.

The area is a very interesting and historic part of Michigan and we love the orchards. But you won't want to spend much time away from the lake.
