We stayed in June with Caroline and Doug (see their review also) and others. Ditto on everything they say. We are already scheming further vacations around this rental! It was a pleasure to stay there. One of things I most appreciated was the ease of finding backups for all the essentials: toilet paper, paper towels, etc. There were plenty of high quality linens available. The kitchen was fully equipped - we made a game of trying to name something that wasn't available and couldn't. All dishes and cooking pans were of really high quality. I would add that Forest Grove is central to Portland, Mount Hood, the coast, Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah Falls, and Sauvie Island. Forest Grove also has wineries to tour, a sake distillery, farmers markets, and all the stores you need for your basics. Sorry we can't add to the reataurant list: the kitchen was so fabulous that we cooked most of our meals in! Emily was a pleasure to deal with, easy to reach, and damage deposit was returned promptly. The wi fi was a treat - worked everywhere in the house. I have absolutely nothing negative to to say about our stay there! (But my husband says it rained once!)
We heartily recommend this lovely, large, comfortable and charming Victorian Farmhouse in Forest Grove to all our friends and relatives. The home is spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The four large bedrooms feature great beds and are filled with antiques and collectibles. The well stocked kitchen is ample for 8 or so diners and the formal living room another 8 or more. The ambiance and hospitality of the historic farmhouse puts a smile on your face from the moment you enter the door and pulls you back in time over a hundred years as the stresses of every day melt away. I will be back with more friends and family for more fun local adventures like the David Hill Winery and the local restaurants and wineries. A+ rating from very pleased visitors who appreciated all the nice touches. Their price cannot be beat and the manager's caring and hospitality made it a pleasure from start to finish.

Earlier this year we rec'd a very special wedding invitation which was going to take place at the McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove. Being from Tillamook, we started looking for lodging at local hotels & after seeing what they were charging per night I contacted our friends to see if they'd be interested in a rental house. Everyone was for it so I started looking & fell in love with this old victorian after reading the reviews. I don't normally write reviews, but since that's what hooked me on this house I thought I would share our experience.
I emailed Emily from this website & rec'd an immediate response. Before I knew it we were booked for Halloween weekend. Emily was a delight to work with, a week before arrival we found out we had to attend a costume rehearsal dinner in McMinnville at 4pm on Halloween. Emily was so gracious & allowed us into the house early so we could all get into our costumes.
We had a wonderful time & attended a wedding we will never forget. And we were so happy getting to spend the weekend with our friends. So if you're in the area and need a place to stay...this is it!
Our east coast friends only complained about one thing....the rain :)
My wife and 2 children really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Victorian house that has been lovingly restored into a vacation house. A lot of attention is paid to small details that make one's stay more pleasant. The large fully stocked kitchen and laundry room were nice. The area is convenient as well, not too far from either Portland or the many outdoors activities in the countryside. We especially liked the many U-pick farms nearby.
This is going to be a long review because I have so many positive things to stay! This last May I was married at the McMenamins Grand Lodge. My mother and I really wanted to find a great house that was close to the venue where close family members could stay and if possible host the rehearsal dinner there. We were striking out left and right until we found this listing. From everything my mother said and the emails that I saw, Emily was wonderful to work with. We were worried that they would not be comfortable having an “event” at their rental house (as other listings told us we could not stay there if we hosted a dinner or went so far to require the names and phone number of everyone that would attend and require all guests to remove their shoes and wear slippers, oh and DOUBLE the price and deposit). We were so above and beyond impressed and welcomed at this stunning Victorian home. The pictures and information do not do this listing justice. Every room is a charming theme and the children’s room upstairs is literally a big top tent theme and so precious. Every guest that arrived to the rehearsal my mom made sure to give a tour of the house to. My husband has a very large family and we fit two whole families comfortably in this home and the beautiful backyard. We had a rehearsal dinner with about 30 people and we did not feel cramped at all. The kitchen is fully loaded with anything you could imagine, from quality cookware to every baking and cooking ingredient. We felt the whole time as if we were at a wonderful home, like grandma’s house only bigger and better. You cannot go wrong with this house, by far the best deal and quality rental for the whole area. I wish I could give this wonderful property more stars.
This was my first experience with renting a home for our family vacation and I was so happy to have rented this property.
When we arrived, everything was neat and clean, and the refrigerator and pantry were fully stocked. They even had a plum tree with ripe plums in the back yard and I made plum pancakes for breakfast the next day.
The rooms were beautifully decorated and we all had no problems sleeping in the comfortable beds. Everything was just as described in the listing and more!
When we arrived there was a mix up and Emily was gracious enough to come again so that we had the keys and could begin our vacation....Thanks again, Emily
I would definitely recommend this property if you are in the Portland area!
Forest Grove is between big cities and the coast, with wineries, a university, a national car show, a lake, and lots of farmland surrounding it.
Other Activities: 1+ hour away from beaches, 30 min away from Portland City Center Shopping. Also 5 minutes to Pacific University.
Golf: Forest Hills Golf Course is very close by, also near is Killarney West and Sunset Grove Golf Courses. Other golf courses in Hillsboro are pretty close, too.
