.Rent The Lakehouse and The Treehouse together, on a weekly basis, as a compound for family reunions, 'big chill' friends' reunions or company retreats. The cottage homes are warm and fun - decorated in bright and cheery Maine 'cottage colors.' We think they are a little 'cheeky.' Both were originally small camps that have been added onto and contemporized by the architect owner. The Lakehouse, redesigned in the 90s, is a 3-story tower with 5 decks just 20 feet from the water. It has 3BR, 2 full BA, and sleeps 8. (2 queen BR, 1 twin BR, 1 queen sleep sofa at lower/lake level.) The Treehouse, redesigned in 2004, is just behind the Lakehouse, and has lake glimpses and opens to private, quiet woods. It has 4BR, 2 full BA, and sleep 10. (2 queen BR, 2 twin BR, queen sleep sofa in living room.
The houses are phenomenally well equipped, right down to lobster crackers and pics, corn holders, flour sifters, electric mixers, blenders, and well – even garlic presses! (Useful info: We seem to have collected life vests in a variety of sizes, including baby, toddler, and adult.) The lake is sandy and shallow at the shore. Perfect for small children’s wading and play. There is great fishing from the dock and it’s an easy swim to the float. Abundant wildlife; loons, blue herons, deer, neighborhood cats, etc. Caterers can be hired for that “special” birthday, anniversary, or just summer celebration clambake, lobster dinner, roast, etc. There is a Boat and Jet Ski rental nearby.
The cottages are located on the east shore of Highland Lake and are just 20 minutes from shopping, dining, whale watches, and museums in Portland, and 35 minutes from super shopping in Freeport (LL Bean and many outlet stores).
We hope to share these wonderful places with you. Be well, Frank and Denise
