I'm in the woodworking business and married for twenty six years with a 19 year old son. I live about two hours away in Georgia while I work in Tallahassee Florida. Often I'm able to take my family and friends to the Suwannee for a weekend of fun. Sometimes we fish and other times we love to ride jet skis and just relax.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004
I've been a visitor to the Suwannee river since youth. Although we had a river house some six miles down the river, our new cabin is much more secluded with very little passing traffic as we are located at the end of a dead end street. The river hasn't changed much; however, the setting has.
Snorkeling at the various springs, boating is perfect as we are able to go up and down the Suwannee river and the Sante Fe river just two miles away. Our location is below all rocky parts of the river allowing one to travel all the way to the gulf. [around 62 miles]
To celebrate the holidays my family of three stayed in the 2 bedroom cabin with my best friend's family of three and had plenty of space. It was well kept and had everything we needed and some nice extras like dvds to play for the kids. My parents rented the adjoining one bedroom cabin. It was nice to have them so close but each have our own privacy. Their one bedroom was incredibly spacious and clean with two futons and a larger dining table so we gathered there for meals, however the full kitchen was in our cabin so we cooked on our side, but it worked well for us. The huge spacious deck is the best draw about these cabins. Great for hanging out and bonfires. The lovely bridge down to the floating dock was great for a family portrait and we sat at the dock fishing for hours though caught nothing. Had a great time overall and Bernie is very flexible and understanding- we were even able to extend our stay unexpectedly at the last minute. Things that I would recommend to bring are a canoe or kayak, that would really have made it stellar. We went to the nearby Ichetucknee river to kayak and had a great time.
My wife and I do alot of traveling. We went white river rafting in Tenn. We have been to five star hotels all over florida. We know a great place when we are at one. We booked this weekend with Bernie for our 14th wedding anniversary. When we arrived the bedroom was spotless, the kitchen had an empty wastebasket ready for us along with rolls of toliet paper in the bathroom. The deck is facing the river with a 100' walkway down to the river. The bar-b-q grill is right on the deck with a table and chairs. Stero system on the deck. What more can you ask for! We grilled, watched dvd's, boated, basked in real Florida. Wish I could have stayed longer, but office and calendar wouldn't allow. We will be back if Bernie will have us :) If you want to stay on the Suwannee river this is the place. Take from an expert traveler. The pictures are just like the location. This property is very clean and well kept. I only know about the near by resturants because I have been in this area lots. Branford resturants are great exspecially the county buffet. There is a great county supermarket in Branford to get your odds and ends you don't bring with you and also ask at the Steamboat Inn for directions to the nearest boat rental.
My family and I stayed at the Brigman's over Christmas week. This was by far 1 of our best vacations to date! Bernie was exceptionally nice and the log cabin was exquisite! We even met the neighbors and they were a delight! The pier that goes down to the river was very well crafted and the split bedroom layout worked out perfectly for our family of 4. Our Golden Retreiver and 4 year old son did not want to leave! We will definitely be back to visit again! Thanks Bernie for letting us stay in your home and for a wonderful trip, never to be forgotten ;)
