Private, Cozy 1 BR w/ ensuite bathroom; 1/2 BA up with outdoor shower

Walk down the stairs through the tropical forest, around the deck to see the fabulous ocean views. This round cabin is very cozy and private - great for honeymoons or a getaway for two.

The round house has a wrap-around deck with 180-degree views of St. John,Virgin Gorda, Peter& Norman Islands and Tortola. There is one room upstairs which includes a fully appointed galley kitchen, a dining area, and a living area -- complete with potable water, high speed wireless Internet service, cable TV, a VCR, CD player, radio, and great books, beach chairs and a cooler.

There's a half bath on the main floor, and a private outdoor shower with two shower heads and lots of hot water. Walk downstairs (outdoors) to the air conditioned bedroom/office with a king-size bed on a platform reminiscent of a boats V berth. We have a brand new full bathroom downstairs with direct access from the bedroom-new this season!

Watch the sun rises over the ocean while lying in bed. Listen to the waves.........

A week in St John, priceless!

With a sigh of contentment, I'm sitting out on the deck of Captain's Cabin looking around at the million dollar view (full moon rise) :). Time has moved more slowly this week and Jim and I have snorkeled every morning. I taught Biology for many years but books and videos can't come close to viewing the natural wonders first hand. The varied and dynamic life on the coral reef is a world away from the every day life back home in New England. In our opinion, the best snorkeling spots are those here on the South Shore. Our favorite: Great Lameshur Snorkel around the rocky shore on the left side of the beach and keep going! You'll see everything mentioned in this book (Captain's Cabin guestbook in the house) and more. Our favorites: a giant spotted ray (Spotted Eagle Ray), wahoo, nurse shark, and the amazing multi chromatic squid.
Don't miss the hamburgers at Skinny Legs and Vie's garlic chicken. You can get your basic groceries at Lily's Market (a.k.a. Iraqi Packi) and beer, wine, rum, tequilla as well. Just expect to pay more.
If Sue and Dan can accommodate you for a day of sailing on the 46' Shakti, you'll have a fantastic time. Thanks again, Sue for sharing this paradise and being such a considerate host.

Our third trip to St. John

This is our 3rd trip to St. John and by far our most favorite. The accommodations at Captain's Cabin were perfect. We had everything we needed. The cabin was also very clean and well-maintained. It is the perfect place to stay! The view when you wake up is OUTSTANDING! I spent every morning eating breakfast on the deck.
The location is also great. We much preferred this side of the island to Cruz Bay. We only went to the North Shore once during our stay.
Sue was very nice and answered any questions we had during our stay.

Definitely go to Little Lameshur Bay (very close), do the Ram's Head hike from Salt Pond, do the Reef Bay Trail hike (bring water), check out the East End beaches, etc!

awesome honeymoon at cc

My new wife and I spent our honeymoon at the captains cabin and let me tell you! It was amazing! The cabin itself was great and the views were even better. We walked to one of the closest beaches and took the bus everywhere else. Other than that we just stayed in and relaxed on the deck and enjoyed ourselves. Susan was very helpful before and after the trip. I had a lot of questions and she patiently answered all of them. My wife and I really enjoyed our trip. Just a side note however for anyone going to st john....bring a cell phone, We didn't and regreted it . Anyway Thank you sue from both me and Kayla.

My husband and I stayed at Captain's Cabin for our honeymoon and can't wait to go back! Tucked away on the hillside where it's quiet and with amazing views, you can't really ask for more. The cabin has all the amenities you need. Not to mention an indoor shower with panoramic views of the sea. How luxurious! The bedroom is cozy with a very comfortable bed. We've never been so relaxed in our lives! Sue kept us well prepared before our visit informing us of everything we need to bring and info about the island. I would recommend Captain's Cabin to anyone visiting St. John. It feels like a home away from home. We'll definitely be back again! Thanks, Sue!!

We felt truly tucked away on the quietest, most beautiful part of St. John. The house was very clean and well appointed. We had everything we needed. Do not let the fact that the bedroom is below the rest of the house deter you. That is all part of the unique charm that is the Captain's Cabin. The bedroom is just plain sexy with views of the sunrise over the bay. Simply stunning. It was always hard to choose on which of the two decks to enjoy the mornings and evenings, so we would spend time on each. We looked at many properties when planning our honeymoon to St. John. After becoming familiar with the island, we know for sure that we picked the best location on Coral Bay. One thing to note when researching, know where your rental is in relation to the community dumpsters. The Captain's Cabin is NO WHERE near these dumpsters. Being close to those could ruin an entire vacation, trust me on that.
We strongly recommend the Captain's Cabin to any couple looking to discover and enjoy St. John in a low key, chill, and very beautiful way. Located close to all the beaches, fantastic non touristy restaurants, and plenty of hiking. What are you waiting for?? Go! :-) Melanie and Mike Sansom
