Favorite places to visit are Petoskey for shopping and dining at Pappa Lous, Shandlers or the Noggin Room under the Perry Hotel. Also, Harbor Springs is great for shopping and dining at 'The Pier Restaurant' and others or ice cream at Turkeys cafe. Just north of Harbor Springs is Pond View Farms which is a seasonally themed learning farm with petting animals and seasonal gifts like fall or Christmas related items for sale along with a mostly natural food store. A must visit is Bay Harbor, about a 20 min drive. It is a new beautifully planed resort community with biking trails, yachts, beautiful homes, more shopping, restaurants like The Pancake House, The KNOT and more. Under 30 min north on US31 is Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island. Both are top U.S. visited drive to tourist must see destinations with shopping, sight seeing, dining, movie theater, boating and of course experiencing Mackinaw island. Try the Pasties in Mackinaw City or if a hot day enjoy the water park. Also, biking around Mackinaw Island is amazing on a warm summer day! If weather is not cooperating there is a newer bowling alley near the Harbor Springs Airport with a restaurant thats open late called The Sassy Loon. Starting in Harbor Springs, go for a beautiful quiet relaxing drive along the coast on 'Scenic Drive' which is labeled with signs or go about 45 min SW of the Cottage just down US31 past Bay Harbor to Charlevoix. It is located on Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan with more shops, dining, boating and is a cute town also. A nice restaurant there with a view of both lakes and the channel is The Weather Vane Restaurant.

Rob or Beth purchased this cottage in 2006
We have friends in the area and love Northern Michigan for a get away to visit all the towns and islands and restaurants and shops and beaches and boating and lakes etc... :) It is our favorite place to relax and get away. There is so much to do but we also enjoy just staying in and making food in the cottage.
Relaxing, boating, beaches, restaurants, Mackinaw Island, Bay Harbor, Parks, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix and sight seeing. We also, like the fact that you can walk to Northwoods restaurant just a couple hundred feet away and also walk to the Pie backery on the other end of the park in front of the cottage. Also, you can put in a canoe at Crooked Lake only about 1000 ft away from the front door. The bike path in back is great too for biking or walking. Also for some reason, I have had the best steaks ever on the open fire pit grill in back. Cooking over the fire is great.
My wife Margaret & I have traveled the world for 43 years. As "senior travelers", we look forward to trips and expect the best in accommodations/lodging.
We always heard how lovely Michigan was in the summer. Coming from the south. we were looking for cooler weather mostly.
Not only did we find cooler weather but we found the incredible beauty of Michigan with it's many lakes, forest, rolling hills & farm lands. We explored from Kalamazoo in the southwest all the way north to Munising and the Picture Rocks National Lakeshore throughout August.
Friends ask us about our favorite part of this special month in Michigan. We say our time in Northwest Petoskey. With the length of our stay in Michigan we wanted a home not a hotel room. We found the perfect cottage for us. The location was just a few mile north of Petoskey. Everything we wanted to see and do in the area was within a short drive. The cottage was very spacious. The cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. It's furnishings/decor, it's size could not have been better. The property was very clean and well maintained. The owner had material in the home that provided helpful tips on things to see & do in the area. Anytime we had questions throughout our stay, the owner was always available by phone to answer our questions. We love golf & found an abundance of fine golf in the area. We love sailing and found the perfect sunset cruise back in Charlevoix. Another day was spent on the lake just across the street exploring for adventure by renting a pontoon boat.
We have seen many places in our 44 years of travel. Our trip to Michigan was lovely. We would highly recommend the cottage to anyone traveling through the Northwest Petoskey area. Don & Margaret Austin, Texas
This was our first vacation in 18 years and our kids first vacation ever. The cottage was homey and had everything you needed. We had never rented someones home before and this was a perfect fit for us. Clean as a whistle with detailed instructions. The trail off the backyard goes into Petoskey if you are a biker. The fire pit was perfect for a couple nights of smores. Staying at this cottage gave you access to alot of area atractions. We went to Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, Traverse City, St. Ignace and we parasailed in the straits out of St. Ignace. Petoskey offers a wide range of dining. We went to Papa Lou's, City Park Grill, La Senorita and Petoskey Brewing Company. If you are new to the area you should make it a point to take a drive on North M119 from Harbor Springs to Cross Village.

We traveled north for a girls getaway weekend. The house was adorable with newer furnishings and amenities. Needless to say, it was very comfortable! The bike path out the back door at the end of the property was extremely convenient...as was the short (2 doors) walk to the restaurant. All in all, we truly enjoy the home and it's excellent location. We were able to get to Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Boyne, Goodhart, Cross Village, and Bay Harbor very easily and quickly! Great location, easy access to a multitude of activities! Most importantly, the owners were EXTREMELY easy to work with, always helpful and willing to assist with any question we had. It was a wonderful experience...if only we could have stayed longer!!
Loved the cottage and it certainly exceeded our expectations and needs. It was really cute with a nice back yard, where we drank our morning coffee and several meals. I would have been tempted to spend the entire time there, but the cottage was too close to great activities. With Petoskey, Charelvoix, Mackinaw City, the Tunnel of Trees and many other wonderful places close by, we found the cottage to be the perfect place to stay on our vacation. I would recommend it to everyone.
My friend and I stayed at this lovely cottage from 6/29/13 - 7/6/13. It is a very busy time of year and we were thankful that we were not right in the downtown area of Petoskey since it can get a bit crazy. The c ottage is approx. 8-9 miles outside of downtown Petoskey so a quick drive and a nice bike ride. They had just completed paving the bike trail and we took it into DT Petoskey and back which was about a 18-20 mile ride. It was very nice, shaded in many areas and had great views of the water in several places.
The description of the cottage was completely accurate and we were pleasantly surprised by the amenities. The photos are accurate and the cottage was clean as a whistle when we arrived.
Bob and Beth were very generous with information regarding the area and had many suggestions for different areas that we may enjoy. The intent of our vacation was strictly R & R and it was perfect for that. We went to Harbor Springs, Traverse City and all the way up to Sturgeon Bay. M115 has a scenic route called the "Tunnel of Trees" and it was a very peaceful and beautiful drive.
We enjoyed several restaurants; Petoskey - Lou's and City Park Grille, Harbor Springs - Bar Harbor which is a little 'hole in the wall' place that has great sandwichs and many of the microbrews in the area on tap. Traverse City - The Omelette Shoppe (downtown at Union and Cass Sts.) and The Jolly Pumpkin which is out on the east peninsula of Traverse Bay.
We would absolutely recommend the cottage to friends if you're looking for a place that is not directly on the beach (much less expensive) but is in a nice centralized location.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the cottage near Crooked Lake. We were able to visit Mackinac Island, Petosky, Harbor Springs, etc. being so close to everything! Although the cottage is located right off a busy street, the back of the cottage provides adequate privacy and a quiet, relaxing environment.
The cottage had EVERYTHING you'd need! Linens, towels, washer & dryer, coffee makers, dishwasher, beautiful deck and fire pit area (pictures)...it was a wonderful vacation with my inlaws and our 2 children (tweens). The owners were VERY easy to talk to and provided a lot of detail upon request. Since I am VERY picky when it comes to lodging, I rated the cottage "excellent" because we were so thrilled with the accommodations! So, THANKS for a wonderful vacation,.
