This was our second time to the Hawaiian Islands, but our first time to the Big Island. After much research and viewing details and pictures of places to stay, we settled on Kona Coast Resort and couldn't have been happier.
It was exactly as pictured in the Hawaii Revealed Big Island book, and their sister website where you can actually see videos. By the way that book is a must have for anyone visiting the islands. Wonderful unbiased info.
One of the requirements for us was windows on as many sides as possible. This was an end unit and there were windows in every room except the bathrooms. It was 2BR,2 Bath,1500 Sq ft. Nice layout and lots of great sunset views from, the huge lanai.
This condo was the most well-equipped also. It was a privately owned unit, and the owners thought of everything a guest might need!
There were flat screen TVs in each BR and the Great room. Spare BR also had an XBox 360. There was free WiFi and all of the routers and stuff you would need for a laptop.
The grounds were very well landscaped and tended. We enjoyed being able to walk on the paths around the grounds, and also the 2 swimming pools. The one nearest us was the "Quiet pool" and was great for people our age without kids.
There was another pool for families with children, in front of the restaurant/bar. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was okay. We were not impressed and did not go back.
The condo is within walking distance or about 3 minutes by car to a little shopping plaza that had a grocery store, drug store, Subway, a few shops, a movie theatre, and a little Italian restaurant as well as an upscale restaurant and bookstore.
The Village was about 15-20 minutes away, so easily accessible on a daily basis also.
There were also many areas where there were nice Weber gas grills for cooking out. They were well lit as well.
It was a great vacation, and we would definitely go back to this unit.
