YELLOWSTONE PINES

Livingston House Rental Photos and Description

The river and creek run through it! There is great fly-fishing within yards of the deck. Yellowstone Pines is a lovely home in a private, wooded setting right on the Yellowstone River in Paradise Valley.

The home is beautifully decorated with quality furnishings, yet is very comfortable. There are two bedrooms and two full baths in the main house. Both bedrooms have views toward the river. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds.

The living area has a spacious feel, with the kitchen separated from the dining area and living room by a couple of counters. There is a dishwasher, electric range and oven, and lots of quality cookware and serving ware. The dining area has a table that seats six comfortably and peaceful views out of the woods and river. A breakfast nook off the dining area seats two.

Adjoining the dining area is the living room, which has comfortable leather couches arranged around the wood stove/fireplace. There is a television with VCR, DVD/CD player, and satellite service, plus a small stereo system.

For extra privacy, some members of your group may want to settle into the cozy guest house, which has two twin beds as well as a fold out couch (double-bed size) and a half bath. There is a small television and VCR.

The main house has decks along the back and sides, with plenty of porch furniture, a high-quality gas grill for your outdoor meals, and a hot tub to relax in.

There is much to do nearby! Paradise Valley offers a wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities, including fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, rafting, as well as winter sports. It is a short drive to the restaurants and galleries of Livingston, to the legendary Chico Hot Springs, and to Yellowstone National Park and adjacent national forests.

Reviewer Comments:
Our only concern was that, although the property is right on the Yellowstone River, the river is only minimally visible and is not really directly accessible. One has to walk down a narrow path to really see the river and then scale a barbed wire fence to get to it. All of that could easily be changed, and it would make the property so much more enjoyable. Otherwise, we were very pleased.

Reviewer Comments:
We really enjoyed our time at Yellowstone Pines. We had more than enough space for our little family of 3! The home is well equipped, but I do have one recommendation: Upgrade the linens. The closet towels/linens were clean, but smelled mildewy. The bed pillows were all feather which caused some allergy issues for us. Luckily, we had brought our own allergenic covers.

Reviewer Comments:
Overall we had a nice time in the Yellowstone area. The property was right on the river, although there is barb wire to prevent you from getting to the river (easily gone over)but a little annoying. We had the wrong code to get in to the lock box but Wendy got back to us after about 15 minutes with the right code. The place was clean but there were tons of flys and bugs dead all over the house (it must have been sprayed) I expect bugs and flys in the area but to have them dead all over the cooking and preparing surface was not desireable. But the ovens, dishwasher, bar-b-que and bathrooms were spotless. We considered ourselves very lucky to find Yellowstone Pines and had a nice time. If you are visiting Yellowstone just note that it is about a 45 minute drive to the north gate and to Gardiner. Not really complaining since the drive is beautiful but if you realize it adds about 1 1/2 hours a day everytime you go it adds up. Also it got up in to the 90s while were were there so the house took along time to cool down. It would have been nice to have a fan in every room (a real fan). There was one small fan we found in the master closet and it put out so little volume it was almost useless. I know it might not be needed often but this summer it would have made the difference between an amazing stay and a nice visit. Also, the guest house gets very hot and is slow to cool down. FANS, FANS, FANS. The light in the laundry room was out and we had to use a flash light to do laundry by. (I'm sure we could have called to have it replaced but we didn't notice until the second to the last day) We white water rafted and went ducking kayaking (blow up kayaks) at Montana White Water in Gardiner. We were very happy with staff and experience. Overall again a very nice visit at Yellowstone Pines.
