STUDIO FOR SINGLE OR DUO. GREAT LOCATION. PRIVATE. VIEWS

Berkeley Studio Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-2)

Berkeley is home to one of the world's great universities -- about 1.5 miles away (65 bus stops a few yards away). Also by 65 bus: Math Institute, UC Botanical Garden, Lawrence Berkeley Lab, Lawrence Hall of Science. Great restaurants in the Gourmet Ghetto -- Chez Panisse, etc.. Two major theater companies. Philharmonia Baroque, Cal Performances, museums. 4th St. shopping and restaurants. The #65 bus connects to the Berkeley BART station for service to San Francisco, Oakland, Orinda, SFO, OAK, etc.

The studio has a completely separate and private entrance in an architect-designed home. The space is small so it best suits a single person or a very cozy duo. Ideal for visiting scholars, parents of UC students, visiting grandparents, etc.

Transportation is very easy by bus, car, and foot (some neighbors walk to UC).

Keywords: Studio (as in NYC or Paris hotel room -- not an art studio).

Suitability:
  • not suitable for children
  • pets not allowed
  • non smoking only
  • wheelchair inaccessible
Guestbook comments from the owner
We're so glad we found your studio -- it is indeed a charming place to stay. The view was picture perfect! The bed was very comfortable -- the weather perfect. We couldn't have had a better week to be here. Thank you for supplying coffee and tea and the little fridge was a nice touch. We will certainly recommend this to our friends and family.

I fell in love with this property on first sight. There are gorgeous views of the SF Bay, gardens abound, deer and turkeys walk down Euclid Ave. It feels like a garden-setting in the middle of a vibrant city. I love to travel but also take in the many wonders of the Bay Area.

The Owner purchased this studio in 1994

The rental came with the property when I purchased it in 1994.

Garden views, birds, a very interesting residential neighborhood with special architecture all around. Views of both the Oakland-Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate -- gorgeous! Enjoy beautiful sunsets over San Francisco Bay. Quiet. A safe part of Berkeley. Great transportation -- far and near.

Cozy and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5
The Location in the Berkeley Hills was great. There is a bus in the event that vacationers do not have a car. The room was cozy and the bed very comfortable. The small refrigerator and toaster and coffee maker enabled us to have breakfast at our convenience. The views of the Bay are breathtaking. I enjoyed walking in the hills (it is steep!) and exploring the parks and the Rose Garden. Susan was accommodating and I would most definitely stay there again.

Convenient location for this small, comfortable studio. As the listing says, good for one person, but 2 people can also share it comfortably. Good parking and close to a bus to downtown Berkeley. In all, my wife and I enjoyed our stay, especially after lots of traipsing about all over the area. Susan, the owner, was very helpful, but unobtrusive.

Wonderful studio, perfectly stocked and with a very comfortable bed. Great location to Park at Rose Garden and close proximity to relatives I was visiting. Very quiet neighborhood, especially at night which is important. Additionally, outstanding reading material.

Owner's Response: I am mystified by the 4 star rating as the review sounds like a 5, the usual rating. Kathleen wrote in the guest book: "I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The studio as perfectly stocked, the view was lovely and it was so close to Cedar. There was so much to read and I perused a few but got into Zola's "The Ladies Paradise" and am now challenged to finish a copy once home. Hope to return.

Couple celebrating 40th anniversary of Berkeley wedding

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed the studio for its location (perfect for walks down to UCB & Gourmet Ghetto or up to Tilden Park), its ambience (clean, bright, private, small but big enough for 2), its excellent selection of books (browsed some) and videos (did not sample), its quietness (no street noise, no noisy neighbors) and the warm welcome by our hostess. Perfect getaway for one or two who want serenity and beauty.

Owner's Response: Congratulations! I didn't realize this was a special anniversary. I am honored that you spent it in my lovely little studio with its view of San Francisco Bay. It is a great location for walkers, bus riders, as well as automobile drivers. The delights of Berkeley are near!

Charming & Convenient Berkeley Hills Studio

Charming & Convenient Berkeley Hills Studio
  • 5 of 5
This charming little studio is a Berkeley Hills gem, with every inch comfortable, cozy and creatively functional. While the photo was attractive, the studio has a warmth and sophistication that's even more lovely, which you notice the moment you walk in. The shelves lined with fascinating books make it inviting to read at night after days out enjoying the offerings of Berkeley and San Francisco. I was visiting my daughter at UC Berkeley during my week's stay and also finishing my master's thesis project, and the studio provided everything I needed to do both beautifully. My thoughtful host brought in an extra folding table so I could spread out my work and set up my portable office. For visiting, the #65 bus runs up and down the hill from Lawrence Hall of Science to the campus every hour, with a stop two minutes from the studio. It is the best $2 bus ride I've ever been on, and riding up to the top is a must for the dramatic view, and it's nice to stop at the science center, too, especially the planetarium. The studio owner was always available, thankfully, as my plane arrived much later than expected. She afforded me total privacy, as well as any suggestions when I asked. The wonderful coffee, tea and chocolate were a lovely touch and having the coffee pot, microwave, small refrigerator and all the kitchen utensils gave me the freedom to make one trip to the grocery store for sustenance so I could work and relax at my leisure. The one time element to plan for is that the bus stops going up the hill from downtown Berkeley, where the BART station is, at 8 p.m. I was fortunate that my daughter drove me around for later evenings, so just one small thing to plan for, and with that arranged, perhaps by friends or taxi, no need for a car because the bus ride, the flowering trees, the birds and the stunning homes nestled in the hills make getting around a delight. I would most certainly love to stay at this lovely studio on my next visit to Berkeley. The only thing I'd change is that I'd stay longer.

Perfect studio for visiting Cal

  • 5 of 5
This studio was perfect for my visit to Cal. Comfortable bed, clean linens, very clean bathroom, amazing views, and very quiet. The bus stop is right out front and runs directly down the hill to campus, very convenient. Much, much nicer than a hotel and far cheaper!
