Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains located in a Private Gated community with paved roads. Our Log Home is located in the center of 10 acres of land. If you like to stay around the house while on vacation, you can curl up and read a book from our small library, watch a movie from our DVD library, play cards or board games. Every room offers TV/DVD and remote control ceiling fans. You can even light the fireplace by remote control. You can create your favorite meal or just throw something in the microwave. All floors are hardwood, tile, and marble with the breakfast island and fireplace covered with stone and cedar trim on the fireplace.

When you venture outside, you will have plenty of places to relax and enjoy the nature North Carolina has to offer. On the front porch, you can rock or swing the day away all while keeping an eye on the weather station. Out back, you can sink into one of the casual deep seating chairs or do some rocking in a different chair. We have a covered area with fire pit if you or anyone in the family would like to camp out (tent not included) for the night. You can pitch some horse shoes or just hit the hammocks.

About The Owner

I have always wanted to have a Log Home in North Carolina. When we had the opportunity to purchase the Log Home shell, we went for it. It all started with 4 walls, the windows and a roof. The rest was up to us, Carol was responsible for the interior decorations, and I took on the construction and landscaping. What we have accomplished is a home that can be shared with family and friends and create lasting memories. Until we are ready to retire, we have decided to share what we have with our rental guests. This picture was taken at Blowing Rock, NC.

Why The Owner chose Gilkey

We had family vacations in North Carolina and even spent our honeymoon in North Carolina. We both love the state, and we also like to ride my motorcycle in the area. North Carolina has some of the best riding in the country. Rutherfordton is small and friendly, rural, but not isolated. The area offers all the necessities with top ranked medical services, shopping nearby, and true southern hospitality to meet some great new friends.

What makes this cabin unique

We both like to read and sometimes that's all we do when we are there. We like nature, peace and quiet. We are able to enjoy this with our family and friends. It is the perfect place for us to gather together and make lasting memories for our family. Until we are ready to retire, we have decided to share our little secret spot for others to make some family memories of their own.

Notes: Our property is located in a Private Gated community, on our property which is over 10 acres we have a fire pit area with a covered area if you would like to camp out back with the kids, we also have hammocks and horse shoes located on our property for your family fun. If you choose you can visit the community park where there is a large covered building with restrooms, picnic tables and grilles, it also has a Gazebo and a jungle jim for the kids to enjoy. There is a small stream running along the back of the Community area

I loved this place!!!

This cabin is very well maintained, beautifully decorated, and in a gated community. The kitchen is well equipped with the exception of a large skillet. The beds are comfy with VERY nice linens. The bathrooms are loaded with towels and washcloths. When we were not exploring waterfalls we spent the majority of our time on the HUGE deck. There is a gas grill, fire pit, and plenty of seating. We did not used the gas grill because we prefer to grill with charcoal and carry around a little Smokey Joe. We did use the fire pit on our last night to roast marshmallows and enjoyed it greatly!! No need to bring firewood, there's kindling and wood stacked on the deck. My son, niece, and nephew enjoyed the creek running through the back of the property. My nephew caught a small trout with his hands, he was so excited!!!! This is a great cabin and was in a great location for us. Very quiet and private. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us. We WILL be back!!!!!

Cozy Cabin in a Great Location!

What a wonderful place!! Everything was exactly as advertised. It is close to downtown Rutherfordton and about an hour away from Asheville and Sugar Mounjtain Ski resort, but very private also. The property was perfectly clean and well-maintained. The cabin is very cozy and decorated beautifully. My family had everything we needed to relax, cook meals, and roast marshmellows.(including many items we forgot that were staples in the cabinets)!! Mike was very helpful when booking, but we had no issues during our stay. I know we will come back again!.

Comfortable home away from home

We were able to spread out comfortably in this three bedroom cabin. The pictures are accurate and the cabin was nicely kept. Although the cabin is in a gated neighborhood it is in the woods with only one neighbor visible. If you are looking to get away from it all this is the place for you! It was great to have full kitchen and washer and dryer. We also took full advantage of the wi-fi, direct tv, and dvd player. The only thing that we didn't find that we could have used was the hair dryer.

Very nice and comfortable

Our family of four, with two small children, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gathering Place cabin. The setting was very peaceful and relaxing, and the cabin itself was well equipped and charming. We enjoyed sitting by the gas fireplace inside, and we loved making a fire in fire pit outside. We even roasted some s'mores which the kids definitely loved! The cabin's proximity to Rutherfordton was very convenient and we were very pleased with every aspect of our vacation at this cabin, including our dealings with the owner who was very friendly and professional.

Great Place, Great Owners!

This is an amazing cabin!! The setting is very private yet close to town. We had a family of 4 and had plenty of room. The cabin is absolutely beautiful with the mixture of stone and wood inside. The back deck with its views are so relaxing! The owners are so accomodating, and are very sweet!! I would highly recommend this cabin!!
