DELIGHTFUL COTTAGE IN CENTRAL EUGENE

Eugene Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Brand new (August 2010), delightful cottage in Central Eugene (Home of the Oregon Ducks), is located between the Pacific Ocean and Cascade Mountains in the lovely Willamette Valley. Features include serene colors and textures, tall ceilings, and antiques. All furniture and linens are top quality and new for your comfort. Reading a book in the cozy window seat is a perfect way to unwind after a full day of activities. Ample storage is provided for your belongings. A deep closet with shelves can accommodate most personal items. In addition, space above the 9 foot row of cabinets can store extras. Larger items can be placed in the garage as stated on the checklist. Finally, light fills the cottage through extensive quality lighting, skylight, bay window, and two other large windows. Built with a good sized kitchen, the studio comfortably sleeps 2 adults and 1 child. The w/d and closet space are bumpouts into the garage. The overall sq. footage is 500 sq feet.

Your home away from home is off a safe, quiet dead end street, surrounded by lovely gardens. Bungalows, Cottages, Tudors, Atomic Age Ranches, and Craftsmen homes were built in the neighborhood, creating an interesting flat walking tour through one of Eugene's older neighborhoods. Plenty of patio seating is available to take advantage of our perfect Oregon summer and fall. Next to the Amazon bike trail, easy access to Eugene is available. In addition, the rapid bus system is just a few blocks from the cottage. An easy walk will get you to major venues in Eugene: the U of O, Hult Center/Cuthbert Amphitheater/The Shedd, library, Saturday Market, fine dining, and many recreational opportunities. Also, several parks are sited close to the cottage.

About Carole Carlson

I am a retired school teacher with many passions: gardening, reading, hiking, my family and friends, Bach, learning to play the piano, travel, and my pets.

Carole Carlson purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Carole Carlson chose Eugene

After years of accumulating junk from my 3 sons, I decided to turn unused space into a practical, simple studio. As with most things in life, The Cottage took on a life of its own and begged to become a Vacation Rental! It's still practical. However, it now considers itself elegant and charming.

What makes this cottage unique

I love Eugene. As a transplanted East Coast big city kinda gal, I appreciate what this city has to offer: great summers and falls are perfect for outdoor activities, winters bring skiing and visits to the coast, the stimulation of being in a college town (Go Ducks), excellent medical facilities, and sipping Pinot Noir while the sun sets at 10 pm on a perfect July night.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a delightful experience staying at your Rose Cottage. I found it wondrously appointed; healing, meditative, restorative. Thank you so very, very, much. This was the best part of my time in Eugene.

Myself and my husband went to Eugene in July as our son was competing in the World Junior Athletics Championships. This is a LONG way from our home so we wanted to have Accomodation that would offer us convenience to the University campus, yet would be comfortable and we would feel like we had a vacation also. In this review it would be impossible to convey to anyone how pleased we were with everything. The owner, Carol, is an amazing, interesting, generous and patient Lady (she can add tour guide to her list of services!). The bed in the cottage was THE most comfortable one I have ever slept in. Anything you could want was there for our use including a Ladies and Gents bike! I hadn't cycled for almost twenty years but cycled around Eugene for ten days and it was so much fun even if it was the wrong side of the road for us!!! Carol, thank you for your warmth and hospitality I only wish Eugene wasn't SO far from us or we would be guests of yours regularly! By the way Father Christmas is bringing me a beautiful Ladies Bicycle!!!

So cozy!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed in this adorable cottage for 4 nights and it was absolutely perfect. It combined privacy with a very convenient location. It is quiet and has everything you need, good bed, good shower, and well equipped kitchen. Carole was lovely and so helpful. The surprise was the spectacular garden. It was like a magical get away to step into that garden every evening and morning. Thanks Carole. We will be back.

PERFECT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Best place to stay in Eugene! The Cottage was fabulous! We stayed for the weekend of University of Oregon’s graduation and it was perfect. Carole was accommodating with arrival and departure times and her house was beautiful. The Cottage was immaculate and decorated impeccably. We were starving when we got off the plane and Carole had granola and yogurt in the fridge waiting for us. We loved the Nespresso machine and the coffee types she provided for it…now we are addicted! The bed was super comfortable and the large window seat/bed was so fun to sit at and look at Carole’e beautiful garden! She had 2 bikes if we needed them and it is a short bike ride to the University and Oregon. It was so nice to have a washing machine and dryer and large closet. The kitchen was fully equipped and the bathroom had all the necessities plus! The TV was great and the cottage had relaxing chairs to watch the World Cup while we were there. There were 2 cute barstools to eat at a bar extending from the kitchen. We loved the wood floors and the cute black and white tile in the kitchen and bathroom. We can’t wait to go back and experience it all over again! Carole is a fun, warm, and informative host! A++++++

Nice!

  • 5 of 5
The small cottage works well, because of Carole's creativity as regards the well thought out details and high quality features within and without. Speaking of creative, the gardens are over the top beautiful. The location is so tranquil that I had the best sleep in years! Highly recommended for a couple or one person seeking a peaceful home base. Easy commute to U of O and downtown.

Charming oasis in Eugene!

  • 5 of 5
You'll love this charming cottage in Eugene--every detail is perfect and your every need is anticipated. You'll feel like you're staying in a 5-star suite without the hotel hassle and expense. Carole is the perfect hostess--welcoming but not intrusive. Being greated by a friendly dog at the gate gives just the right touch of "home". Like other reviewers I'm reluctant to let others in on this secret hideaway!

Exceptional accommodation

  • 5 of 5
This beautiful, tranquil space was our Eugene home for 6 weeks as we visited from the UK around the birth of our grandson. The interior has a vintage appearance with every modern comfort in one room (plus en-suite shower room), and the thoughtful design and quality equipment makes the most of every square inch, without being at all intimidating. Everything was spotlessly clean on our arrival. We had parking space, free access to the garage to store suitcases, and use of the patio in a beautiful garden. We found the owner friendly and very helpful without being at all intrusive. The property is in a quiet cul-de-sac, ideally located for access to Eugene's amenities and freeways to the wider area. There is a bus stop a few minutes walk away. Recommendations: Dip into the book of local walks found in the cottage info pack, and go to "Sweet Life" on Monroe Street for morning coffee and delicious celebration cakes. We will certainly be returning.
