A great big thank you for going the extra mile. Thanks for mailing the forgotten items, we greatly appreciate you doing it for us. We loved our stay in the stone house, it is at the top of the best vacations we have taken and will try to book it for our next visit to Ouray. The house far exceeded our expectations. We have stayed in other vacation rentals and I have to say this rates as our number one choice. Thank you again for your hospitality and sharing your lovely home! A+ Stay!

After visiting Ouray since 1987 we finally decided to become part of this magnificent place. We love sharing our little piece of paradise and continue to encourage family and friends to visit. Every one of them has expressed how beautiful this area is and can now see why we moved here. We've had tons of fun in the San Juan Mountains. Winter is our favorite time of year with plenty of snow fall followed by blue sky days and fantastic skiing in Telluride.

Pattie purchased this house in 2003

Ouray is one of the most beautiful places we ever traveled through, so we were thrilled to be able to own property here. This wooded property is located in the north corridor of the city limits, nestled between the canyon walls and only a short walk to the river trail, hot springs pool, or even downtown.

Enjoy the surrounding beauty of the San Juan Mountains. View Mt Abrams and the canyon walls from the comfort of a recliner in the living room or while enjoying meals on the patio. If you are lucky, some wild life may wonder through the property. A two mile river walk is across the street. Walk/jog, snowshoe/cross country ski the loop or use it to walk to the hot springs or into town. There is so much to see and do. There are winter and summer activities. Our vacation home is 0.7 mile from the Ouray hot springs and 8 miles from Orvis hot springs. The nearest airports are in Montrose (35 miles) and Telluride (50 miles). Ouray and Telluride offer jeeping and hiking (guided or self); museums, quaint shops, and restaurants. The town of Ridgway (10 miles) offers the same activities along with kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, and the Ridgway State Park/Reservoir. Winter allows for cross country skiing, alpine skiing, ice climbing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

RICHARD

  • 5 of 5
The home is charming, clean, and very accommodating with a lovely view. It is most convenient and "useable." The culture of Ouray and Ridgeway is friendly and warm, in contrast to that of nearby Telluride. We thoroughly recommend the house and area. Pattie is an excellent communicator.

Owner's Response: Thank you Richard for your kind words. All 3 of the towns you mentioned do indeed have their own "culture". Both Ouray and Telluride are old mining towns and Ridgway is ranching country.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the area and the house. Hopefully you and your family will be able to return in the future and enjoy all the area has to offer.

COULDN'T BE BETTER

Couldn't Be Better

Our extended family of grandparents, daughter, and 2 granddaughters had a wonderful week in Ouray at the Stone House. It was perfect for us. We were happy to get to meet Pattie the first night; she is very friendly and helpful. House set up was wonderful with lots of considerate extras provided. Photos were accurate. The house was spotless. We loved being near the River Walk so we could walk to the pool and to town especially on July 4th so we did not have to deal with traffic. We loved the outdoor patio area which has a spectacular view of the mountains and of the July 4th fireworks. Ouray is a beautiful town with wonderful hiking, the Hot Springs Pool and great ice cream. We will be back and hope to stay in the Stone House again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review! I'm glad your family was able to spend such a wonderful week in Ouray. The 4th holiday is certainly one of the best times of the year. The River Walk is very popular with many guests.
The Ouray Stone House looks forward to your return next year.

CLEAN, COMFORTABLE RANCH, BEAUTIFUL VIEW FROM WINDOWS.

  • 5 of 5
This comfortable 4 bedroom ranch was perfect for our group of five who needed a one level home to accommodate our handicapped son. The house was furnished well and had what we needed to cook a few meals there which is good since prices are expensive in this little mountain town. Pattie was friendly and helpful. Plenty of bedding and towels. We had planned to stay 3 nights but had to leave early due to weather on our route home, which is common in April. We still enjoyed the Ouray hot springs, found a geocache along a local trail, and had fun feeding the goldfish and turtles at the hot springs. Before you visit the hot springs be sure to check their web site since they do close occasionally for cleaning. If staying here in the cold weather and the sound of furnace or water heater bothers you, just run a fan. Our deposit was refunded promptly. We would definitely stay here again.

WONDERFUL WEEK AT THE STONE HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
Pattie is a top-notch hostess who gives great attention to details. For example, there were night lights in each bathroom, something even the finest hotels often overlook. The four-bedroom house is comfortable and well-equipped, but not cluttered with knick-knacks and kitsch. The Stone House is .9 miles from downtown Ouray, and a few hundred yards from the river walk, which we did every day. The house is lovely and comfortable, with the living area and sleeping areas separated. Six humans and two dogs shared the space without any problems. The washer/dryer worked well. Lots of birds wandered through the property, which was quiet and surrounded by gardens and evergreen trees. We hung out on the patio in between rainstorms. We built a fire in the fireplace one night, since it had been raining every day and was chilly outdoors. The kitchen had just the right amount of equipment. Pattie also has a wealth of knowledge about restaurants and the surrounding area and helped make our stay very special. We enjoyed reading all the glowing comments in the guest book at the house, too. The security deposit was refunded quickly. Kudos to Pattie and the Stone House!

FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5
We (4 adults) stayed at the lovely Stone House for 4 nights. We were there to ride the trails between Ouray, Silverton, Lake City and Telluride. The trails are the most scenic we've ever seen. The Stone House is outstanding in every way. The Owner, Pattie is very friendly, professional and puts forth extra effort to make sure your stay is the best!! We can't wait to go back and hope the Stone House will be available. Thanks again.
