Not a great start to our vacaton

Upon arrival at our condo my travelling companion got her shoe caught in the taxi and twisted her leg. We were met in the lobby by a rep for the condo who took us to our room. It was clean and looked comfortable. By the next morning my friend could not walk or even lift her leg. There is no bathtub just a shower that has a appx 2 foot wall you must climb over to get into. My friend, who is just 5 ft. was unable to get into it. The worst thing about this property was the balcony. The unit is about the half way point of the building and is about 25ft from the next building. The chairs on the balcony have missing slats. You have over flowing garbage dumpsters right below the balcony. There is no safe in the room which means you must carry passport and money everywhere you go. There is a very large tree right off the balcony which would be very easy for someone to climb. We left the condo for a hotel after the first night for a hotel that had a bathtub. My friend spent the rest of our vacation in a wheelchair and there was no wheelchair access to the condo that I could see. All in all a good place for a young family who spend all day at the beach and want to save money by cooking meals. When we called the rental company they did not offer a discount, which I wasn't expecting but would have been nice since we where only there 1 night, and to date I have not received my 200.00 damage deposit back.

For those travelers who have little expectations this is the perfect place. Less expensive than most other places and still close to everything. It is an older hotel/condo building and has been worn over the 60 years since it was build - so not the place you find luxury. We are not those kind of travelers (we would rather pay less and travel more) so this place is perfect for us. The units towards the street gets a bit more noisy esp. at night when Honolulu Tavern closes at 2am, but the unit layout is better esp. when you travel with kids. The ones on the sides are slightly smaller and the layout not as good, but less noise.
Since the units we have stayed in have individual owners, the interior is a mishmash of older furniture and kitchen equipment so there is some making due with what is there... but hey - you are on vacation in Hawaii! The hotel is just there to hang your hat between beach and hiking, right?

My vacation lasted all month so I had time to settle in. I arrived on a Sunday and was met within a few minutes after I arrived at the property. I lost my key and that was not a good thing. I made a second key so I could not be locked out accidentally. Management was really accommodating about when I left as I had an 8:30 pm flight. I lived in Waikiki so I preferred to be right there on Kuhio Av and across from Duke's Lane and International Market Place. The Hawaii King was a little bit of Old Hawaii: small, historic photos (Roosevelts) the tavern on Nohonani. I love it!

The condo looked to have been decorated out of the Goodwill. The ceiling light in the kitchen had to be replaced during our stay. The sliding doors onto the lanai could be shaken open even when locked. Light bulb in light on dressing table missing. Not shabby chic, just shabby!

I stayed in this condo with my sister and brother for 14 nights. The condo it self was ok. How ever, the reservation process was not.
From the minuet I sent in the reservation papers it was nearly impossible to get in contact with them again. If I had any questions it took them days to respond and they would ignore questions I had. For example, 3 weeks before my arrival date I realized that I was going to arrive 1 day earlier than planned so I contacted them to ask if it was possible to rent the condo one extra day. I sent at least 3 emails asking the same question but I did not get an answer. It later turns out that the condo was available when I needed it but I had already booked an other place for the night.

Check in was no problem, the older man working in the reception was nice. We did how ever have problems with the younger guy working the reception. The first day we saw him he stopped us from going up to our condo since he did not think we were checked in. He later that evening gave us a call to, in a rude and irritated way let us know that we had to turn the music (from our iPhone) off at 10pm (this was 9.40pm). He also told us we were not allowed to hang our towels to dry on the balcony. Even though there was a clothes line with pegs hanging there (it was impossible to dry the towels inside of the condo). This whole conversation was unpleasant.

The rest of our stay he never once said hello or even looked at us when we walked by the reception. And when we said hey to him he did not respond. When we checked out he was working the reception and he did not even thank us for our stay, wish us a pleasant flight or say good bye.

We all loved Hawaii and will absolutely go there again but the way we were treated by this man took away from our experience. Add the problems I had booking this condo, needless to say when I go back to Hawaii this is NOT the place I will turn to for a condo.

Again, do NOT rent a condo here!
