Another of our guest's favorites is the Roman Nose Recreation area. It is accessible by car but the road can be rough. High vehicle clearance is recommended. The effort is worthwhile. The area has 3 alpine lakes with good trout fishing and spectacular vistas. The lower lake is a short walk from the parking area but the other 2 lakes are a beautiful short hike away.

There are spectacular and wonderful waterfalls in the area. The Snow Creek Falls is a short 15 minute drive away. It is a short 15 minute hike down to the falls from the road. A truly spectacular falls is just across the boarder of Montana. It is the Kootenai River Falls. This is a true destination attraction

that shouldn't be missed. Numerous other activities are available but too many to list.

Special animals that may be seen include wolves and grizzly bears. Their viewing is rare but if seen, count yourself one of the fortunate.

The town of Bonner's Ferry has many interesting shops and good restaurants. The Kootenai River Casino is also in Bonner's Ferry should you feel lucky.

Sandpoint is a great place to shop and dine out. It is a town that prides itself in its artistic offerings. There are many art galleries with local and nation artist's work. Another very popular annual event is the summer festival concerts. They are held outdoors in the park and many national artists participate. Other musical entertainment opportunities are held at several quaint pubs. The Panida theater also presents musical entertainment as well as theatrical presentations.

Schweitzer Mountain ski resort is minutes from Sandpoint and just 35 minutes from our cabin. It has all the winter activities of any major ski area and in the summer they offer all sorts of biking and other sorts of mountain recreation.

Snowmobiling opportunities are endless and can start right from our front door.
