For rent on Paros island: a typical island house located above the harbor road of Paroikia, the island's main town, in the 'Castro', the ancient and Venetian center of the town. All of the beauties of the island are within walking distance or easy reach – the old town, the seacoast and hills, the beaches, restaurants and cafés and the island's ancient, Byzantine and Venetian treasures. The bus stop is just a few minutes away. You can also rent a car or motorbike at reasonable prices.

The 70 m2 first floor house accommodates up to five persons and is fully furnished. In addition to the living room and fully equipped kitchen, it has two bedrooms, 2 WCs, a shower, air-conditioning, a washing machine, TV, wi-fi, etc. From the flat, veranda-like roof of the house, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the harbor, the old city and the bay of Paroikia and watch Paros' stunning sunsets.

In short, the house is perfect for an inexpensive and relaxing holiday in beautiful, quiet, convenient surroundings.

Within a few minutes' walk of the house are:

- The port of Paros, where all ships dock. You can easily walk to the house with your luggage (no need for a taxi). Paros port has frequent and comprehensive ferry connections not only with Piraeus (the port of Athens) but with other Aegean islands, so you can take jaunts to Athens and numerous islands using your Paros house as your base.

- The bus terminal. Buses leave frequently and punctually for all parts of the island and are very inexpensive, so you can easily visit all of Paros's villages, beaches and sights or get off the bus and hike into the hills.

- The 15th century Venetian fortification, just 50 meters from the house.

- Paroikia's main market street, which is just a few steps away. Here you can shop for souvenirs, jewelry, clothes, bags, etc. or enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants serving Greek and international cuisine. The main street is lined with traditional Cycladic houses and branches off into charming, secluded side streets that invite exploration.

- A series of lovely beaches around Paros harbor. You can either have a small boat ferry you across the bay, or if you like to hike, you can walk around the harbor on foot.

- The seaside road of Paroikia, just below the house. It is lined with cafés and restaurants serving a variety of foods and local delicacies. In the afternoon, this is an ideal spot to enjoy a coffee and a Greek sweet; evenings you can watch the sun sink into the sea over a glass of ouzo, wine or beer.

- The Orthodox church of the Panaghia 'Ekatontapyliani'. Modelled on St. Sophia in Istanbul, this church, Paros' greatest treasure, is one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the world, founded in the 4th century AD by St. Helen.

- The archaeological museum of Paros , just a few meters from the church. Its displays include remarkable archaeological finds from the Cycladic period (3200 BC) and Classical Greece.

A short bus ride will take you to:

- The seaport of Naoussa, which is unusually picturesque. Naoussa is 11 kilometers from your house in Paroikia but is easy to get to by bus every 15 minutes. Its tiny port boasts a Venetian fortification and a chapel to St. Nikolas, patron saint of sailors. It is crammed with brightly colored fishing boats and surrounded by cafés and restaurants. Naoussa is also well known for its night life (bars and clubs) and for good shopping.

- More remote beaches such as Kolymbithres (across the bay from Naoussa) renowned for its unusual natural beauty, Farangas on the south side of the island (14 kilometers), Santa Maria to the north (14 kilometers), Golden Beach to the southeast (15 kilometers) and Piso Aliki to the east (13 kilometers).

- The airport is 12 kilometers from the main town and the house.

PRACHTIG VAKANTIEHUIS OP EEN PERFECTE LOCATIE!!

Onze vakantie op Paros was weer een feestje dit jaar en niet in de laatste plaats door het fijne huis van Thalia en Dimitris, waar wij (2 volw), als eerste huurders, van 27/09 t/m 08/10 verbleven.Werkelijk alles klopte, zoals omschreven op de site, van de inrichting tot de extra's (toiletpapier,shampoo,badschuim,koffie,schoonmaakartikelen ect.ect). Er stonden zelfs dozen met verse koekjes en flessen water !! Het huis ligt op loopafstand (3 min) van de haven en busstation en ligt middenin de Kastro (het oude gedeelte van Parikia) en de grote supermarkt is ong.10 min lopen richting Livadia.
Vanaf het enorme dakterras heb je een prachtig uitzicht over de haven en de baai van Parikia, de boten kun je bijna aanraken en het blijft iedere keer een bezienswaardigheid om te zien hoe mensen en voertuigen van en op de boot gaan. Echter,het hoogtepunt van de dag is de waanzinnig mooie zonsondergang die je, onder het genot van een hapje en slokje, te wachten staat en je sprakeloos maakt. Wat een belevenis is dit toch iedere keer !! Wij hebben het, als vervente Parosgangers, fantastisch naar ons zin gehad en zullen het aan iedereen aanbevelen dit huis te huren.
Thalia en Dimitris, dank voor jullie gastvrijheid en we komen zeker terug!!

PERFECT!!

Do not look further for a property for rent! You've found it!
We just came home from a 2 weeks holiday on the lovely island of Paros. And one of the reasons why we enjoyed it so much is this property!!
The house is situated in the middle of the old town of Parikia, and therefore has the perfect situation in the middle of the town. The house is perfect with 2 bedrooms a bath that suites your needs when returning from the beach. There are several good beaches in parikia, and true the Island, we fell in love with the beach on the end of the town, and Tango Mar bar restaurant, which gives exellent service, and sunbeds for Free if you consume at their bar.
Thalia which is the lady who helpt us with everything, is an amazing person, and so welcoming and nice. She even brougt us fresh vegetables (AND THEY WHERE SO GOOOOD)
The wiew from the rooftop is even better than you se on the picture.
I would reccomend this apartment with no regrets. We would love to come back!

NICE CLEAN FLAT IN EXCELLENT LOCATION

We rented the apartment for 3 weeks during June 2013 and were very pleased. The apartment served our needs well as a family with two small children.

It is extremely well located in the old town of the city, with just a few minutes walk to the market streets, port and bus station. Yet it is located in a quiet block.
The apartment is well equipped and the high speed wifi and washing machine was especially useful for us. The apartment was clean and safe for small children. The terrace has a fantastic sunset view and view over the towna and bay.

The hostess is very hospitable and communication was quick and easy, on beforehand aswell as during our stay. She even brought us fresh eggs, vegetables, homemade bread and marmelade, all produced at her farm, at several occations during our stay.

We can absoulutely recommend a stay in this fine apartment when on Paros.

-The house is on the first floor, reached by outside steps which blends with the local Cycladic architecture and there is also access to the roof where there are panoramic views of the bay and the harbour. The main advantage of this location is that it is very close to all the facilities and places of interest. The main promenade and walking area which runs along the seashore is only a few minutes away and this is where all the coffee shops, bars and restaurants are situated, and where you can sit and people-watch and enjoy the spectacular sunsets with the changing colours of the sky and the sea. This is an ideal spot as a holiday base, you can reach the port within three or four minutes, which also makes arriving at the island by ferry easy and you can pull your suitcases to the house very quickly and without needing a taxi. If you do decide to visit another island the inter-island ferry service is regular and inexpensive and everything leaves from the main port. The bus service is reliable and frequent and takes you all over the island to beaches and villages and runs 24hours a day with air conditioned vehicles and the terminus is next to the port which makes it very convenient.

The house is in the Castro area of the town, which is the oldest and most atmospheric and the castle was built on the ancient temple of Athena and it was the marble from this temple that was used by the Venetians for the building. The area has several souvenir shops, boutiques and restaurants, serving both Greek and international dishes.

Paros has very many beaches, mostly sandy and it is safe bathing. There are some beaches that have facilities for wind surfing, diving and kite surfing for those tourists who want an active holiday and these are easily reached by the buses. One of the nearest beaches is Krios which is situated across the bay and can be reached by a ferry service which runs frequently during the summer months, every few minutes. The beach is clean and sheltered and there are sun loungers and snack bars on the beach, as there are on most of the Paros beaches. Kolymbithres near Naoussa has volcanic-formed rocks on the sandy beach and is considered an area of outstanding beauty, and further afield are Farangas, Santa, Maria, Golden Beach, Alyki, and Piso Livadi all having their own beaches, restaurants and bars. The traditional fishing village of Naoussa does not have a beach in the town but there is a very picturesque fishing harbour with fish tavernas scattered around it and at night there are very lively night clubs and music.

For the tourist who is interested in the archeological sites of Paros these are well signposted and interesting and the most popular is the Museum, which is few minutes walk across the Church Square and is well worth a visit. It is full of Cycladic artifacts and sculptures made from Parian Marble, mined around 720 BCE. The marble mines at Marathi and the old marble mining village of Lefkes are on the bus route and give the visitor an idea of what life on a Cycladic island was like when the mines were working. Parian marble is known throughout the world for its translucency and was used in ancient times for several important marble sculptures.

The most visited site on the island is the Church of Ekatonaplyiani which is a few minutes from the house. It is the second oldest Orthodox Church and has a full immersion Baptistry which is still used today. It dates from the fourth century AD and is a very well known church which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and there is a special celebration each year in August which culminates in a parade and firework display.
