Summer 2005 - Very nice family resort close to Colonial and Busch Gardens. I rented a normal 'fixed' week from Andrew/Shobana in Summer 2005 and it was great. I previously rented with someone else through Sunterra Club but that was a big hassle as they had an error with reservations and had to rebook the vacation for a different date. Uuuugh!
We rented the unit from Karen. Karen is very easy to work with. She even sent several pages of information on the area that was VERY helpful. We decided to get the Bounce Pass and go to Jamestown and Yorktown. There is so much to do in the area. The only complaints that I have are the check in line was so long we left. We went to Williamsburg to pick up the Bounce Pass. After we came back the line was short. After we got checked in we were asked to talk to them about a time share. My family and I were standing there soaking wet due to being caught in a rain storm in Williamsburg. We declined. We received 3 messages on the condo phone asking us to come to breakfast ( which had to do with the time share). If you are interested in working out the gym is tiny for this large complex. We did have a problem with a toilet. We asked the complex to come and fix it no one ever showed up.
We just returned from our Virginia vacation and loved the accommodations. Karen and Andrew were wonderful to work with. We would definitely come back!
We will definitely stay in this unit again! This was our 2nd time at Powhatan Resort, which is beautiful, & our first staying in this unit. We had the downstairs unit which was very clean and nicely decorated. Has all the amenities you need and great appliances, cookware, utensils, etc. We had no problems checking in and politely declined the presentation with no questions or pressure. The weather was perfect as well as the convenient location to any store you needed. Also very close to all area attractions. We were looking for a great seafood restaurant and a local recommended a place called Oceans & Ale which was very, very good and located right next to the premium outlets, which was only about 10 minutes away. You will not be disappointed with this unit and Karen covered all bases as far as planning, directions, tips, what to bring, etc.
We just left our 2 bedroom 2 bath condo at the Historic Powhatan Resort. Everything was spectacular and exceeded are expectations. The unit we had was newly updated with new carpet and flooring, granite counters, and nice furniture. Everything was very impressive and clean. The resort was beautiful and very picturesque. All the staff members were very friendly. The pool area was great and had a nice gated area for babies/ toddlers. The resort restaurant was very good and the tour of the historic inn was interesting. There were lots of activities at the resort to keep you busy.
This is a perfect vacation spot for families. The location is also very convenient and is close to many attractions. Karen was wonderful to deal with and always responded promptly to any questions. We look forward to staying here again next summer.
We had a lower level 2 BR condo for our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 teenagers). It worked out GREAT. This location is very convenient to all the attractions. Also very near a Martin's grocery store - so we kept kitchen stocked with drinks, snacks and breakfast food. Even cooked in twice and the kitchen had pots and pans that were in good shape. Use the washer/dryer daily - and it was also very handy. Lots of restaurants and shopping also convenient, which is nice.
Reception was confused on our arrival so it took a little while to check in. And I did refuse their presentation (which took them a while to "accept").
We didn't use the resort facilities as we were either at the historic sites or parks all day/night. Overall a great experience and if we come back, we will book here again.
