House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Our Waimanalo Beach Home has beach access to a beautiful six mile long white sand beach, the longest stretch of sandy shoreline on O`ahu, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is free of rocks and coral and this makes it a perfect spot for surfing, boogie boarding, swimming and snorkeling! There are beautiful views of the pali cliffs where you can see hang gliders enjoying the Waimanalo breezes. Magnificent views of several off shore islands including Molokai and Lanai. Waimanalo Beach offers the most amazing sunrises with an inspiring start to each day.

Oahu's best keep secret is the town of Waimanalo. It is one of the only places on Oahu where you can get away from the tourist mania, yet still be so close to so many great activities. Waimanalo Beach is located on the East side of Oahu, and is just 25 minutes from Honolulu International Airport, Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head and minutes from attractions such as Sea Life Park and Hanauma Bay. Kailua, Lanikai and Hawaii Kai are just 10 minutes away, with fine dining, shopping, cinema and more.

This is your own piece of paradise, and whether it is a honeymoon, adventure, or family holiday, it has it all. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, TV, DVD Player, VCR, a lanai with a gas grill, a large beautifully landscaped tropical yard with an outdoor cedar sauna and jacuzzi to relax in at the end of the day, there is also a jungle gym and swing set if you have kids! The house has an outdoor hot and cold shower for an easy return to the house from the beach.

If you are looking to experience 'true Hawaii' then our place is for you. We are located in an area which the Hawaiians refer to as 'God's Country'

Exceptional - Great for large family, relatives and children....

Aloha All,
Our stay at Waimanalo house was incredible. We lived like the locals and thoughly enjoyed the location and place. We were first met with Ka'u the caretaker and she laid out all the amenities. Super clean and it really felt like home and child friendly. The closed in yard keep the kids in and allowed us to drop our guard and enjoy the place.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... We read all the reviews but we had experience with Hawaii lifestyles and the challenges of Hawaii. This was top notch! Bar none the best we have stayed coming from over 20+ rentals on many Hawaii islands.
Note: Wake up for sunsets, they are incredible!!!
Aloha, A Hui Hoe!! (Goodbye, until we meet again...)

Aloha Ka'u & Chris

There is not much more I can add as my bestest friend Mel said it all in her review, but I will say a little something for my time on this beautiful island, at this amazing little place we called home for 9 days💜😃💜
From the moment we arrived until late on the night before we left, we were well looked after by Ka'u. She is an orsum Wahine and made our holiday so much more than I could have only imagined. It felt like I had known her my whole life and I am looking forward to returning in 2016 with my family, for a longer holiday and to be in her presence once again.
The positive karma and mana in the house flowed through me from the moment I walked in and it felt like I was walking into my home. It definitely had the serenity and peacefulness I needed to rest and relax.
The beach sunrise was amazing as was the Makapuu Lighthouse sunrise and I wish I could attach photos to share.
The local people were so friendly and welcomed us with open arms. Even on the roads everyone was so courteous. The Chiefs Luau was amazing and I can't wait to take my family there to experience it with me.
On our last night Ka'u organised for myself to get a tattoo to represent my holiday on the Island. Mahalo once again to Ka'u and Steve at Pacific Soul Tattoo for an amazing piece of artwork on my arm. My daughter Jordan was also able to have a little piece of Hawaii tattoo'd on her arm by Brian thanks to Ka'u & Steve.
My last Mahalo is to my BFF4E Mel for letting me invite myself & Jordan on her family holiday. An emotional but amazing moment shared with you for the dolphin carving you gave me, and with the blessing from Ka'u💜💜💜

Much Aroha Ka'u coming your way from me

NOT ENOUGH STARS!!!

  • 5 of 5
Where to start.....Firstly, MAHALO to Ka'u. Chris & (Family). They have welcomed us into their community and this home with such Mana and Aroha we felt it as soon as contact was made with Chris, (firstly via email) and then in person. Ka'u greeted us with such enthusiasm and Te Oaoa (Happiness).
My family, best friend and her daughter planned for this holiday for over a year. I had researched for a rental near Waimanalo due to a family wedding. We were not looking for 'Hustle & Bustle' but more of ' Chilled & Relaxed'. Waimanalo Country Side Beach House provided exactly that.
We had a hire car so we were able to take advantage of surrounding areas that Ka'u was only too happy to provide local knowledge about. With GPS in hand and a keen sense of adventure we slowly became entwined with this 'Hawaiian Culture'. We embraced the the kindness, the people and this beautiful part of the world with open minds and hearts.
Great places to check out - Hawai'i Kai Town Center 20min drive (Costco), Kailua (Wholefoods) 10-12 min drive, Aloha Stadium Swap-meet Markets 25min drive (Great souvenirs), Waimanalo Bay Sunrise 2min walk, Chief's Luau Sea Life Park 7min drive.

The home is perfect for families young and old. Chris & Ka'u have catered to almost every activity you could think of. Although we didn't have young children, we will be re-booking again for April 2016 and plan to bring little ones with us. Knowing what we have here makes planning a holiday much easier knowing that our little ones can safely play in the yard with someone always able to keep a watchful eye out. The beach is really, literally only a 2min walk. The road is not busy, so it is safe for young ones to make their way to the pathway safely. The trolley provided for all the beach toys makes an adults life so much easier, but there is also a trolley for your towels, drinks and other beach going stuff!!
The general layout of the house is open and generous in modern appliances, kitchenware, linens and FREE WIFI PEOPLE. Just a small travel tip for those traveling from Australia....buy 1 power adapter (AUS-US) and bring a power pack (AUS) with an extension cord to help charge Iphones, tablets, laptops flat irons etc!
This is not your typical beach-side resort, it is a home that reflects the holiday you want it to be, relaxed, easy and simple. So if you are expecting the rattle and humm of Waikiki and Honolulu, you will only hear the many birds and other wildlife here...oh and a rooster too! Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the great review, it is greatly appreciated!

I agree with you 100% - this home is very relaxing and peaceful. Plus, it is off the beaten path and the beach is one of the best in the whole state. When I lived there, I ran the beach every day with my dogs and body surfed with my kids.

You are right about the yard for kids. When I lived there I made it into a compound for the kids and dogs. I never had to worry about them getting out and they were free to run around and play hard.

You guys are welcome back anytime - just let me know and I will get you on the calendar. Have a safe trip home.

Chris

This house made our vacation very memorable.

  • 5 of 5
As I write this, the temp. inChicago drops to 20s so I miss the vacation in this vacation home(VH) so much. My fam of3 from Chicago, w/4yo & fam from Korea, my parents&brother's fam w/9yo spent 9 days in this VH. When I searched the VH, I wanted it to be clean and pleasant to stay even if it’s not luxurious. Also location was important as it’s first time in HI for most of us. The VH has to be not too far from major sightsee’g areas but to be still quiet town by beach to enjoy our own fam vacation with all ages. When I found this VH, I was very excited as this met all my criteria. However, this was my first time to reserve a VH online so I was very nervous, with all doubt if it’d be safe to pay online, if the description of VH was true & even I worried if this VH’d be real...! However, I found my worry was for nothing. This VH is located only a few min away from the beautiful beach. It’s about 40 min from airport and 30min from Honolulu. 15-20 min from a city w/Costco and all kinds of restaurants. We enjoyed the unforgettable sunrise almost every morn’g (due to time difference, we became very morn’g ppl) and spent great time in the beach. Wave was a little bit rough for4yo but mild enough for 9yo to enjoy. All sand toys& surf’g stuff were in the VH so we just needed ourselves. The beach’s very clean&quiet w/some trees provid’g shadow and we owned it most of time w/out so many ppl around. (We thought this beach was much more beautiful than Lanikai) kids just loved to hang out in the VH and zipline was a hit. One of many reasons that we really liked this VH was well equipped kitchen and porch seat’g. We cooked at least a meal/day. Eating home meal made us feel home and relaxed. We liked watch’g kids play in the yard and talk’g, drink’g and eat’g in the porch until late night. Chris, the owner, was very nice and responsive from the beginn’g. He was very kind enough to let us arrive earlier on the first day and stay late on the last day due to 10pm flight back home. K'au who is a house care giver and lives next door was very nice too. She helped us our stay comfortable by provid’g all our needs. She even gave gifts and books to kids. My kid still loves the toy and remembers the auntie in HI. I still remember the fresh taste of apple banana she gave us for snack at the airport when we left! Thanks, Chris&K'au! I feel lucky to find this VH. If we ever go back to HI, we’d definitely like to stay here again. This house made our vacation very memorable.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review - I greatly appreciate it a lot. I am so glad to hear you and your family had a great time. When I came to visit with you, it sure looked like everyone was happy. Your family represents my favorite guests - that is multi-generational families getting together and enjoying themselves in a very relaxed setting.

The place is always open to you and your family to rent again anytime.

Also, since you were there we did some work in the months of September and October. We tiled the kitchen - Re-painted the exterior and interior of the house - some carpentry work - some yard work. Overall, the place is shining. I will post some new photos on the website soon.

Again, thank you very much for the great review and we appreciate you and your family.

VRBO in residential area near beach

  • 2 of 5
Our family of 5 stayed at the VRBO for 5 days. It was part of a gift to our daughter, her 5 yr son and our new sil. The location was not as described as there was no beach view. The house is located on a modest residential street with houses on both sides of the street. It was a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. Although houses were close there was tall flora around so there was some privacy. Being a residential street there was the noise of everyday life - ongoing construction next door, tree trimming etc. The beach was indeed beautiful and magical, one of the loveliest we have ever been on and the water was clean and warm - great for the entire family.

The photos did not accurately reflect the rental's appearance as it was quite tired looking and many things such as the swing set, hot tub,TV/controls,some beach toys, screen doors were not in good repair. The swing set was old and rusty and there were large splintered wooden parts on the playhouse. The photos do not show the driveway with 2 trucks parked on it (which came and went)and stacked indoor furniture in front of the trucks under the carport. The manager's house (Ka'u) is literally in the VRBO's backyard and this is not seen in the photos. We were told by the manager that we would have to park our van outside the gate next to the fence. The VRBO's description states there is a covered garage(carport). We were unaware that we would be sharing the outside washer and dryer with Ka'u until we asked where they were.
The kitchen was a delight in size, workspace and kitchen amenities. It looked to be renovated. Some pots and pans were not clean on arrival and had dried food or dead insects on them as did the microwave and BBQ. If you are not used to insects- large cockroaches,(we saw 2),termite/ant mounds and hundreds of tiny ants on counters you will be put off. Warm climates = insects. Bedding and towels were clean and the furniture well used but comfortable.
The contact with the owner,Chris was pleasant. Ka'u gave us the ins and outs of the house on arrival. We were in contact with her about furniture that was left outside the gate and which we brought in for her. She came and went as the truck(s)would be gone.

Cleanliness, good repair and an accurate description are not too much to ask in any rental property that is $425/night. Improvements to the house/grounds are needed and I have emailed Chris regarding how lovely this place could really be.We did enjoy ourselves especially the beach!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review - I am glad to hear that you enjoyed yourselves during your stay. I wish you had called me during your stay if you had concerns. Me and your husband communicated frequently prior to your arrival to make sure everything you wanted was there. I apologize for anything that may have upset you. Both you and I have spoken since your stay and I informed you that during the month of September we shut down and do maintenance projects. We will be addressing all of the topics you brought to my attention.
I apologize that you thought there was a beach view - I always tell people we are 5 houses off of the beach. I found out that Beach view was listed because VRBO has no other option in that category that fits the description, I have since added verbage to accurately describe it. Also, we are located in a great neighborhood and people do have their normal lives that involve making noise during the day. I always tell renters this as well as that there is a short walk to the beach at the end of the street. The time to get to the beach varies by the individual(s). Also, I always tell renters that when I would take my kids when they were young - it would take us 5+ minutes, when I go alone, I can get there in about 1 minute. I appreciate you letting me know about the items that troubled you. They are in the process of now being repaired. Also, there was a miscommunication between your group and the caretaker - she does not share the washer and dryer with renters - she has her own. Also, I always let people know there is a caretaker on-site. She is there to help or handle any of your problems. You are correct about the parking, we used to always let renters park in the carport.
We still do if they really want to, we have found most people like to park right outside of the gate. There is always parking there and this allows them to come and go a lot faster and not have to navigate the backing up out of the driveway. We have had many people crash their cars into the gate - breaking the operator and leaving without informing me or the caretaker. It usually costs me anywhere from $500-$2,000 to fix it. In September we will be doing painting, roof coatings, some carpentry, and tiling work. I went and examined the play set and there is a board that was damaged by bugs - it will be replaced as well. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Again, thank you for your review and we appreciate you and your family.

Awesome rental

  • 3 of 5
We staid for 5 days in this house. It was an awesome stay. Positive points of our stay was the location because you are so near to the beach! When you are sitting in the garden you can hear the sound of the waves as well as the sound of the different types of birds! Awesome! The rental had enough space for groups excisting of 8 persons. The outdoor terrace was also awesome, you can sit there with à large group to have à BBQ or diner or just relax! For families with young children there is enough to do on the property, such as to make use of the playground or to make use of the different types of stuff they made available like waveboards and snorkel equipment! The landlady Kau she was à very nice person and told us à lot about waimanalo! She is very concerned with the community, Hawaï and her rental! Negative points we had to deal with were that the diswasher was out of order, the furniture was old because some of the garden chairs were tied up with tyraps, we never met chris(only by telephone), we had to wait à couple of hours before we could enter the rental, they didn't mentioned how to use the hot tube or sauna and at least really clean was also not compared to what we are used to! For people with disabilities we will not recommend this property because of the different heights in the house! Nevertheless we had an awesome stay and we enjoyed the waimanalo life! We would recommend it to people or groups who are more focused on an excellent location instead of luxery! Maholo from the Netherlands!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review - we agree it is awesome! We try to stay there as much as we can. I also enjoy hearing the ocean from the deck. We built the deck for hanging out on and relaxing - plus it accommodates everybody to be able to be on it and enjoy time with each other.

I am sorry to hear that you had to wait to get into the rental, that does not normally happen. We always make sure someone is there to meet you to check you in. I apologize that you did not get to meet me, but only the caretaker. I was off island with my family camping on Kauai. Whenever a renter wants to meet me - I make it a point to come by and say hello.

Also, I immediately went out and checked the dishwasher and it is working perfectly - I apologize if it gave you a hard time. In the future if anything is out of order or not working to your satisfaction, please let me know immediately and I will get it handled right away.

I agree with you that this is a difficult property for someone who has physical challenges and is handicapped because there is step-ups and downs from the living room to the kitchen and to the deck.

Thanks for staying in our killer Hawaiian home - you are always welcome back.

Aloha,
Chris
