Bob and I would like to welcome you to our home in Nicaragua. We originally purchased the land in 2000 and have completed building and furnishing in 2010. We love the relaxed pace, abundant nature, incredible surf and the kindness of the locals. The area is best described as 'the California coastline 100 years ago'. You can travel by boat for miles and see only beautiful cliffs and white, pristine beaches.
Our home has 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. All bedrooms connect to a bathroom. The master bedroom has stunning views of the Pacific and direct access to the lanai. The second 2 bedrooms have single beds that can easily be moved together. The 2 main bathrooms have large stone showers with oversized windows that overlook small enclosed gardens.
There are 2 sets of french doors that connect to the lanai from the common rooms that bring the outside view of the Pacific into all areas of our home. Upon entering the front door, your first view is of the lanai, infinity pool and ocean. We provide a Bose ipod player/tv/sat/wifi/ps2/cell phone/daily maid service for your comfort and enjoyment. All artwork is local with bright colors used in the paintings. All the furniture comes from Simplemente Madera.
ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA
There are numerous activities to do in the area. We provide an EXTENSIVE reference book at the house that contains driving directions to numerous attractions and restaurants in the area. If desired you can swim in our infinity pool that overlooks the Pacific or visit one of the many pools and beaches at Rancho Santana. There are also 5 unique beaches in the area, 3 of which you can easily walk to.
The area is known for amazing surfing. The rainy season is June through October. (October is very rainy so do not plan to go then!) Also, because our home sits on a cliff, you may want to consider not bringing small children.
All amenities offered by Rancho Santana are available to you during your stay. These include but are not limited to clubhouse (bar, restaurant), multiple swimming pools, tennis, health club, horse shoes, bocce ball, small food store/souvenir shop, many beaches, etc. Some for fee options are also available (spa, yoga, horseback riding, bikes, surf board rental, etc).

Bob and I currently live in Ocean City, MD. We first fell in love with the Pacific coastline of Nicaragua back in the 1990's. The natural beauty is stunning. In 2000, we purchased land and visited the Ranch many times since then. We completed building our home in 2010 and visit as often as possible. We started building a book for ourselves with driving directions, local spots we enjoyed and spots found through wandering so that we could go back and visit again. Since we first started, the book has grown and it has become extremely useful to ourselves and our guests. We also continue to add to the house for our comfort and yours. Each time we visit, our bags are packed with new items for the house. Games, books, movies are just a few of our constant additions. We share the boogie boards, life vests, tennis rackets, etc with our guests. Our thoughts are that if we like to use these items on vacation, so would you. So, enjoy!!
The Ranch has undergone many changes since we first visited. The new club house is an ideal place to hold a destination wedding or to just sit and take in the amazing sunsets. The food is fresh and much of it is locally grown or caught that afternoon from the sea. Eco tours, both short and long horseback rides, a new yoga center located on the beach beneath a green canopy of trees and single and couple massage areas are just a few of the more recent additions.
Surfing is huge in the area also. Go to http://www.nicaraguasurfreport.com to view pictures and surf reports since 2005
