We bought this property because we fell in love with it and to raise our family. We looked everywhere for 10 acres for our family and this is what we found.
My husband, 1-year old son, daughter and her 4 friends stayed from Friday through Sunday at this property. The owner really went out of her way to make our stay pleasant and meet our needs. For example, the girls brought movies but there was no DVD player. So, late on Friday, the owner obtained one and set it up for us. That was a nice touch. She lives across the street, so it was convenient if we needed anything. The house is on a small lake, and the girls went swimming (despite the fact that the water was freezing cold. It was a brief dip in the water). The loft house is pretty spacious. Big rooms. Only 1 bathroom to be shared by many. Downstairs are 3 garages as you can see from the pictures. Those are for the owners' equipment. The only downside to the nice location and view is the fact that the house is next to some sort of large industrial shed that had a bunch of junk strewn in the back. There was construction going on and there were huge piles of gravel outside, but the girls actually found that to be a lot of fun (climbing up them). The owner has horses nearby, and was kind enough to let the girls feed them carrots. That was fun. I think once all the construction is done, and if the junk behind the big shed was removed, the experience would be even greater ! Keep in mind too, this is a loft house, so you'll be walking up a lot of stairs to get to the top. The porch is very big and has a table and chairs. Nice for relaxing. For the money, this is a very good value. At just 20 minutes from St. Louis, the location is great. The house is in a very nice neighborhood with very large and very pretty houses. Some items inside are showing a bit of wear and tear (cabinetry), but otherwise, the place is very, very nice and the owner very accommodating. If we're in the area again, we'd definitely think of staying here again.
We had a small Bachelor party, and this place was perfect. It was pretty secluded. The rooms were great stays and many of the guys said the beds were the best they have ever slept on in their lives. Heidi was there when we arrived and asked us if we had any needs. We asked for a propane tank and one was provided. It is hard to be negative about this house because it was almost perfect, but if you want some constructive criticism I would say update the grill. Looks like someone used charcoal on the gas grill, and I think it really made it look bad. It is still useable but has seen better days.
The location was great. The house was great. If I need someplace to stay around the St. Louis area, I will definitely be choosing this place again. Thanks again for the great stay.
We had a girl's weekend of five of us who are still friends from high school (we're now in our mid-forties!) It was a great place to hole up and just enjoy talking and enjoying one another!
The host was wonderful when we had a small issue and she even stopped by personally to make sure that we were okay.
The facilities were clean and very comfortable. Even sharing one bathroom with 5 women (!) we had no issues!
Thanks for a lovely time - we're talking about doing this every year!
Had a great time in St. Louis; house was everything we expected. everything in good working order, plenty of room, property was very clean!
This property was exactly as described. It was very obvious that the owners take great pride in their property as it is very well maintained. The owners were very helpful and worked with us to resolve the little minor stuff that we needed assistance with. I have already recommended this property to friends and relatives because we were pleased with our stay. The location was about 30 mins. outside of the city and easy to access (after our initial wandering). The kids enjoyed fishing and kayaking in the pond. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area!
This property and location was amazing! This was exactly what I wanted for our family. We are raising 6 adopted special needs children (20, 15, 10, 7, 4.5 and 4) and instead of constantly stimulating them with only theme parks, we wanted to expose them to a different way of life. We DID do Six Flags, zoo and Raging Rivers, but over a 10 day stay, we had plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors. The kids fished and caught (and released) many fish as the lake was well-stocked. They jumped off the dock and swam, caught a toad and numerous baby frogs, met new family members at a family reunion under an awesome pavilion, made s'mores around a fire and crashed every night tired from kid adventures!
We had a few glitches when we got there and needed help and the owners were so helpful and responsive.
We loved this spot and were fortunate to have found an affordable, beautiful location that easily accommodated our large family. You won't be disappointed! Perfect!
