Landhaus Quilcene is a very private gated residence situated on 15 acres (6 hectares) of forest land. The property features the main 2 bedroom, 1 bath cedar home (1,064 sq ft/99 m2) with fully screened covered sun porch and wrap-around deck, and 2 adjacent cozy guest cabins. (Sleeps 8-9 people). A private hiking trail loops its way through the property and offers guests a convenient choice for exercising, walking their dog, or just a relaxing walk to observe the wildlife in the forest. Distant from any traffic noise, a more relaxing time would be hard to find. The ideal setting for a relaxing weekend away from the stress of life in the city or as a base camp to explore the beautiful hiking paths and mountains of the Olympic National Forest.
Hi, my name is Jochen and I am the owner of Landhaus Quilcene. Originally from Germany, I have called the Seattle area home for over twenty years now. I have created this private forest retreat for my family and friends in the German Landhaus ('country house') tradition. When time allows, we come here to relax, talk, play games, sit by the fire, watch a movie, go hiking, explore nearby towns, and, above all, forget the stress of the work week. Since my family and I are using the Landhaus frequently ourselves, we have taken great care of maintaining and decorating it to make everyone feel welcome and create a great experience in the country.
Jochen Liesche purchased this cabin in 2005
Everybody who has stayed here always had a great time and mentions how relaxed they felt afterwards due to the serene forest setting and fresh air. Many of our guests have come back year after year and our guest book is full with nothing but compliments and people's fond memories of the time they spent here.
All guests love our screened and covered sun porch that allows them to sit outside and enjoy the nature views of the surrounding forest and Dabob valley even if it should rain. A quartz heater provides warmth outside when the temperatures drop. The two adjacent heated guest cabins are very cozy and afford their residents a lot of privacy while being only steps away from the main house.
This retreat is wonderful. It is decorated with a designer's touch, but in a very cozy and inviting way. All amenities that you need such as fridge, stove, etc... The grounds are beautiful, easy access to some nearby shops for supplies and central access to other fun activities on the peninsula. We stayed in the house comfortably with 4 adults and a toddler.
We sought out this retreat because one of our dogs hates fireworks. This location was not only remote enough that fireworks were pretty well muted, it was a dog haven. There was lots to explore, and the fenced yard means dogs can run and play without risk of escape.
Humans were well taken-care of as well, with comfortable beds and clear instructions on how to use everything. The house is very well-appointed and we had everything we needed. We'll definitely return!
We enjoyed wonderful 3 days at Landhaus Quilcene. Everything was great and we felt like home right away. Our German family members also enjoyed the Bavarian Style of the cabin and the adventure we made out of it. We would recommend the cabin and we would stay again at the Landhaus. We also signed the guest book.

It was perfect. Quiet, beautiful and large. Had everything we needed. Would just suggest more bathroom lighting and more mirrors. It was very homey and wonderful. We would stay here again for sure. Thank you!!
We returned from our stay yesterday & already want to book our next visit! There was ample room for 2 couples, 2 nine month olds & a big dog without using the small 1 BR cabins (which were adorable). The kitchen was well appointed, the decor was the perfect blend of cabin kitsch & modern comfort. It was far enough from everything to be quiet & secluded and close enough for us to hit up the cideries and Port Townsend. I will be recommending this place to friends for future cabin weekends.
This was the perfect fall retreat in the woods. A group of 8 of us headed over to the peninsula from Seattle for the 1st Annual Quilcene Half Marathon for what was one of the rainiest weekends on record. The home and cabins were clean and well-maintained and I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of the photos and the beauty of the property. The kitchen was well-stocked and made creating group meals really fun. The dining room table was perfect to gather around for carb-loading and game-playing. I would definitely recommend this rental and I hope to return again. I can only imagine how nice the sun room is in warmer weather.
Perfectly situated on the Olympic Peninsula, Landhaus Quilcene is a lovely retreat from city life. We loved the main house which includes a sizeable kitchen, a cozy living room, a dining room, and two nice-sized bedrooms. We also enjoyed the wrap-around deck and screened in porch. The two guest cabins are very charming and private and those who stayed in them really enjoyed having their personal space.
Had our group been any larger, I think that the one-bathroom situation might have been more challenging. But it was workable.
The photos of the cabin are accurate, but were likely taken professionally - they make the property look significantly larger than it is. However, the spaces aren't small by any means.
There are two grocery stores in Quilcene and I very much enjoyed shopping at the Quilcene Village Store - lots of local products and very friendly people. I also highly recommend a meal at the Halfway House in Brinnon, stave room for the pie!
The owner was a fantastic communicator and excelled at responding to questions quickly.
Property located 5 miles north of Quilcene, WA.
