Everything and more at Buccaneer Hill

Everything about the cottage more than met the description and our expectations. The main room is big and airy and beautifully, tastefully furnished; the kitchen is well equipped, we even cooked a dinner for 7 one night. The bathroom is spotless and spacious with plenty of hot and cold water. The cottage is comfortable and stylish with large ceiling fans that give a gentle waft of cooling air. Little touches were much appreciated - dressing gowns, big beach towels, iPod dock, sun hats! The location looking over Governor's Harbour and the fantastic sunsets would be hard to beat.
On our arrival Millie, the house keeper and Sidney, the gardener were waiting for us and showed us around. Millie was unobtrusively around in the mornings always ready to do anything, whisking our laundry away and then leaving it clean and ironed on the bed for our return. Sidney has a small vegetable garden and invited us to pick tomatoes, lemon grass and peppers which we did throughout our stay. We had full use of the pool that is beautifully designed with natural coral paving slabs, natural colour inside and deep, it's just like diving into a natural rock pool.
Would I recommend the cottage to anyone? Reluctantly but whole heartedly yes of course - only don't book it when we want it next! Buccaneer Hill Cottage and House must be two of the best rental houses I have ever seen.
What to do in Eleuthera and Governor's Harbour? Well, if you are looking for a slick resort with bars and casinos, it's not for you. If you want to experience island life as it has been for decades, if you want the best beaches in the world and miles and miles of them, if you want to buy fresh fish, crawfish and conch daily from the local fisherman or just sit on Cupid's Cay and drink a beer and chat with incredibly friendly locals, it's the place for you.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words Geoff ! We look forward to seeing you on your next trip to the island and do hope the return to the English weather wasn't too much of a shock.
All the best to you.
