Private and Pristine Waterfront Cabin with Stunning Views

Piseco Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Private Lakefront, Sleeps 4, 2 bedroom, Snowshoes, Kayaks, Canoe

Romantic Cabin in the Woods, on the Water, with Ultimate Privacy. There are no next door neighbors, you are sharing this amazing location with the wildlife and an occasional canoe gliding by. Beautiful views any time of the year!

There is a 6 page article about this house in Cabin Life Magazine Feb 2015 issue. Was also in Destination Fabulous TV Show to represent the Adirondacks.

We are almost fully booked spring and summer (see calendar for availability), however we have another cabin nearby very similar in style that we just purchased so has lots of spring and summer available dates. See our other listings or send an email and we will send a link to it.

This cabin sits right on top of the lake with 500 feet of private waterfront, dock and boathouse. The cabin has many oversized windows to capture the beauty of the natural surroundings, so the views are stunning, even at night! We turn on the fire, turn off the lights, and enjoy the reflection of the moon off the lake...just beautiful. The sight of the fog lifting in the early AM is worth the early rise.

Sleeps up to 4, but this is the perfect romantic spot for two! Great year round destination for couch potatoes and adventurers alike. No need to leave the comfort of the sofa to experience the beauty of the local wilderness, and those who do care to venture out have plenty of hiking opportunities to lakes, rivers and mountain tops, we supply local books for exploration opportunities.

Cathedral ceilings create an open, airy main room with kitchen, dining and living area with gas fireplace. There are 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed, one with a double bed. There is a separate TV room for watching movies, reading or enjoying that mid afternoon nap. Great lake views from this sweet little room as well.

We have one bath (shower only), an outdoor hot shower in the warmer seasons (sweet!), an indoor fireplace, outdoor firepit, full kitchen with lots of amenities, weber grill, wifi, 40' flat screen for DVD movies (but no cable), land line phone (no cell service in this neck of the woods) and outdoor speakers to enjoy your iPod while grilling or chilling.

Need to work while here? We have a desk right up against the window so you can write that novel or email your client while observing the wildlife on the lake.

Comes with 4 good kayaks and one canoe in warmer weather. Life preservers and lake floats provided. Our Lakefront Boathouse provides very easy access to the kayaks, no need to carry them anywhere. Watercraft available May 15-Oct 15 only.

This is a kayak haven for both beginners and the more experienced. Kayak 10 minutes to the right, you are on beautiful Piseco Lake. Kayak 30 minutes to the left (for the experienced kayaker only) to the more remote wilderness of Big Bay Lake. Lots of natural wild shoreline and wildlife to explore right out your front door! Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, except for one deep swimming hole, but you can kayak to the lake and enjoy the clear water and sandy bottom of Piseco Lake.

This cabin is like living inside a snow globe in the winter...there are so many windows you are simply surrounded by the snowfall, it's a beautiful sight! A unique feature here is that the slightly moving water out front does not freeze, so there are water views and wildlife sightings year round. Very special spot.

Many winter hiking, snowshoeing and x-country skiing adventures to be found locally. Great winter fishing right out front. There is a small downhill ski mountain, Oak Mt in next town over. Gore ski mountain is a 50 minute drive. We supply 2 sets of adult snowshoes and one child pair.

This is snowmobile country - hundreds of miles of groomed trails through the woods and across the many lakes here. Stop in to a local pub for lunch and a beer - and head out to the next lake. Local rentals, lessons and guides available.

But our favorite activity in winter is sitting by the fire with a hot cocoa and observing the wilderness and the weather from the comfort of the sofa :)

An all wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate the snowy dirt driveway in winter. It is plowed regularly but can be tricky in icy weather. The other option is to leave your car at the end of the driveway and walk in.

This is a no parties, no smoking, NO PETS (sorry!), allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited well and septic capacity. As a result, we can have no more than 4 persons here at any time, so this is not the place for family reunions or if you intend to invite friends over.

We do our best to keep a pristine home, we are sure even the most discerning guests will be very happy here. We love that we can share this very special spot with responsible and considerate guests.

This is a very private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet (where we are) from Piseco Lake, and you can hear the cars going over the bridge from the property, which is the only thing we wish was different.

This is a great home for self reliant, independent travelers looking for very comfortable, pristine accommodations in a unique and special spot to get away from it all. Piseco and the surrounding area are beautiful, but have limited entertainment venues other than nature hikes, mountain views, lakes and rivers. We supply information on local hikes, restaurants, etc.

About Maura

David and Maura spend lots of time in the Adirondacks year round. We swim, flat water and white water kayak, paddle board, hike, downhill ski, cross country, snowmobile and simply chill up here.

Maura has a family camp nearby, has been coming to this area forever. We live and work in NYC, it's a 4 hour drive, just put in a book on tape, and in no time we are in paradise. Dave and Maura both work for themselves, and are working hard towards an early retirement to the Adirondacks.

Maura purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Maura chose Piseco Lake

Why this property? It is so very rare to find this kind of privacy on the water, and with such a stunning view...we fell in love the second we saw this location.

We are the third owners. It was a seasonal summer camp since the 40's, using lake water as the water source. The second owners (contractors) started the renovation by securing the foundation, renovating the shell and putting in all those fabulous windows. By keeping the same footprint as the original cabin they were able to keep this amazing waterfront location - you are no longer allowed to build this close to the water.

We finished the home by having it winterized it, put in a year round well for water, put in all knotty pine ceilings and walls, wood floors, decorated and opened her doors to our first guests in August 2012.

As far as we are concerned, this is the perfect retirement spot. Until that time, however, we are sharing the house with guests, so far everyone has been just as thrilled as we are!

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy! Views! Open floor plan, immaculately clean and very easy house. It is in a very naturally beautiful and rustic setting, with lots of wildlife. We (or our guests) have seen loons, mergansers, ducks, herons, fox, coyotes, skunk, tons of fish, otter, owl, bald eagles, tons of birds, deer, fawn, a buck, a mama and baby bear!

First person to see and photograph a Moose (note: not a mouse!) from our property gets one free night stay!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Beautiful Place that we Enjoyed Fully. Did lots of kayaking, hiking & fishing. Gorgeous views from inside (and outside) the house, very fun to watch the weather roll in over the water.

Saw evidence of bears, out front there were blue heron, loons, mergansers and deer. In the water we spotted pike, small & large mouth & rock bass, fall fish, yellow perch and sunny. Beautiful drives & exploration off Rt 10.

Thank You!

Amazing and Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We were so excited about the cottage from the moment we stepped out of the car and then even more when we walked in. The cottage is great, bright and cozy, and the views are amazing. We couldn't stop just sitting and staring at the lake and the beauty.

We did many Adirondack hikes including Ampersand Mountain (hard, but amazing) Castle Rock, and Panther/Echo Cliff with views of Piseco Lake. The views and colors from the cottage and the yard were amazing in the fall, we picked the most perfect time to be there. We had Piseco Lake to ourselves on a perfectly calm afternoon kayak, it was amazing with everything reflecting in the water.

There is not much in the area, but most of what you would need in Speculator if necessary. We made dinner in every night so can't say anything about the immediate area restaurants, but if you drive to Lake Placid it is a cute town and Outdoors at Dancing Bears had great food and a nice view of Mirror Lake.

I highly recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the area. The only problem was that we didn't have more time to spend there, it was so hard to leave!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I want to go back!!!!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! WOW! WOW! I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was or how beautiful this cabin is! The first moment you walk in the door you are greeted by the pleasant scent of fresh wood - the cabin is immaculate and the owners have thought of everything. This was the first time either of my husband or I have had the pleasure of visiting the Adirondacks and it was truly a wonderful memorable vacation. We did quite a bit of kayaking and canoeing, climbed Panther Mountain, and visited some of the local site seeing attractions. It was my idea of paradise! As amateur photographer, I took 1441 pictures of the area!

We had a fantastic time at the cabin celebrating my dad's birthday. the cabin was exactly as described, with awesome views throughout the house. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoes and spent plenty of time sitting outside overlooking the lake. For a quick hike, hit up Panther Mountain - amazing views.

The cabin was clean and the kitchen provided everything that we needed for a perfect stay. We all said we hope to come back in the future, thanks again, Matt

Stunning and breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot do justice to this place. It's stunning!!! The views are to die for, the house is gorgeous and immaculate. We were there for a week over New Year's Eve. The cabin has everything you can possibly need, it's beautifully decorated and immaculate. It was ridiculously cold outside but the heating was great inside, you could sit by the fire and look at the stunning winter wonderland right outside the huge windows. The area is great for winter lovers, skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, all is there together with great casual bars and restaurants within 15 min to half an hour"s drive. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen with every gadget and utensil you can need, the lounge is stunning with a beautiful gas fireplace, books and blankets to make it cozy, the TV room has comfy sofas and Netflix for those cold nights, it's all beautiful and amazing. Maura and David were fabulous hosts, getting back to us immediately to sort out any issue and answer every query. We had a fantastic time and we hope to return soon. Thank you so much!!!!!

For hundreds of years the Adirondacks has been a destination location. Set in the Southern portion of the 6 million acre Adirondack Park, located in Hamilton County, Piseco is surrounded by beautiful mountains and pristine lakes.

Some of the most picturesque flat water and white water kayaking and canoeing can be found in this region. Waterfalls, stunning hikes with views, white water rafting, fishing and hunting are popular activities. The lakes are not crowded in the least, bring your boat and enjoy water sports.

This area is infamous for it's well maintained snowmobiling trails that go for hundreds of miles, all the way to Canada. Local rentals available.

Cabin is in pristine condition. We take our shoes off inside and prefer that guests do as well to maintain wood floors. This is the perfect place for the discerning is very clean with nicer than average furnishings. We are looking for guests who will appreciate this attention to detail, and treat the house and contents accordingly. Children are welcome, but this may not be an ideal place for toddlers. We have a wild and woolly 500' of natural shoreline outside, and white furnishings inside, you would have to keep a very close eye on them in both places. The best features of the property are the Privacy and the View (stunning year round!). There is a lot of shoreline, but unfortunately most of it is too shallow to swim. There is one deep swimming hole we can direct you to, or kayak 10 minutes to Piseco Lake and enjoy the clear sandy bottom there. Cabin is private but not remote, Rt 8 is near, can't see it but can hear cars from it.
