Piseco Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Lakefront, Great Views, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4, boat house, 4 kayaks, canoe

Romantic Cabin in the Woods, on the Water, with Lots of Privacy. There are no neighbors, you are sharing this waterfront location with the local ducks, birds, loons, otters, bald eagles and the occasional canoe gliding by.

This cabin was Featured in Destination Fabulous TV Show to represent the Adirondacks. View Online here:

The cabin sits right on top of the water, 500' of private waterfront with dock and boathouse. The house was designed with many windows to capture the beauty of the natural surroundings, so the views are stunning, even at night! We turn on the fire, turn off the lights, and enjoy the reflection of the moon off the lake...just beautiful. The sight of the fog lifting in the early AM is worth the early rise.

Cabin sleeps up to 4, but this is the perfect romantic spot for two! Great for couch potatoes and adventurers alike. No need to leave the comfort of the sofa to experience the beauty of the local wilderness, and those who do care to venture out have plenty of hiking opportunities to lakes, rivers and mountain tops, we supply local books and info.

2 bedrooms each have one double bed. There is a cozy fireplace and a separate TV room with sectional sofa for watching movies, reading or enjoying that mid afternoon nap. Great lake views from this sweet little room as well.

There is one bath (shower only), an outdoor hot shower (sweet!), an indoor fireplace and outdoor firepit, full kitchen, weber grill, wifi, 40' flat screen for netflix movies (but no cable), and outdoor speakers to enjoy your iPod while grilling or chilling.

Need to work while here? We have a desk right up against the window so you can write that novel or email your client while observing the wildlife on the lake.

Comes with 4 good kayaks and one canoe in warmer weather. Life preservers and lake floats provided. Our Lakefront Boathouse provides very easy access to the kayaks, no need to carry them anywhere.

This is a kayak haven for both beginners and the more experienced. Kayak 10 minutes to the right, you are on beautiful Piseco Lake. Kayak 30 minutes to the left (for the experienced kayaker only) to the more remote wilderness of Big Bay Lake. Lots of natural wild shoreline and wildlife to explore right out your front door! Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, except for one deep swimming hole, but you can kayak to the lake and enjoy the clear water and sandy bottom of Piseco Lake. Pull up on one of the many small islands and swim from there.

Summer we offer M-F 4 night midweek rentals for $1000 or full week Fri-Fri for $1650, Fri - Mon 3 night weekends are $900. We are almost fully booked this spring, summer and fall, please see calendar for availability.

This cabin is like living inside a snow globe in the winter...there are so many windows you are simply surrounded by the snowfall, it's a beautiful sight! The slightly moving water out front does not freeze, so there are water views and wildlife sightings year round. Very special spot.

Many winter hiking, snowshoeing and x-country skiing adventures to be found locally. Great winter fishing right out front. There is a small downhill ski mountain, Oak Mt in next town over. Gore is our favorite ski mountain, is a 50 minute drive.

This is snowmobile country - hundreds of miles of groomed trails through the woods and across the many lakes here. Stop in to a local pub for lunch and a beer - and head out to the next lake. Local rentals, lessons and guides available.

But our favorite activity in winter is sitting by the fire with a hot cocoa and observing the wilderness and the weather from the comfort and warmth of the sofa :)

We recommend arriving with a 4 wheel drive vehicle to better navigate the dirt driveway in winter. It is plowed regularly but can be tricky in icy weather. The other option is leaving your car at the end of the driveway and walk in.

This is a no parties, no smoking, no pets, allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited well and septic capacity. As a result, we can have no more than 4 persons here at any time, so not a good place for family reunions or if you intend to invite friends over.

We do our best to keep a pristine home, we are sure even the most discerning guests will be very happy here. We love that we can share this very special spot with responsible and considerate guests.

This is a very private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet (where we are) from Piseco Lake, and you can hear the cars going over the bridge from the property (but not from inside the house), which is the only thing we wish was different.

This is a great home for self reliant, independent travelers looking for very comfortable, pristine accommodations in a unique and special spot to get away from it all. Piseco and the surrounding area is beautiful, but has very limited entertainment venues other than nature hikes, mountain views and lakes and rivers. We supply information on local hikes, restaurants, etc.

Beautiful Place that we Enjoyed Fully. Did lots of kayaking, hiking & fishing. Gorgeous views from inside (and outside) the house, very fun to watch the weather roll in over the water.

Saw evidence of bears, out front there were blue heron, loons, mergansers and deer. In the water we spotted pike, small & large mouth & rock bass, fall fish, yellow perch and sunny. Beautiful drives & exploration off Rt 10.

Thank You!

David and Maura spend lots of time in the Adirondacks year round. We swim, flat water and white water kayak, paddle board, hike, downhill ski, cross country, snowmobile and simply chill up here.

Maura has a family camp nearby, has been coming to this area forever. We live and work in NYC, it's a 4 hour drive, just put in a book on tape, and in no time we are in paradise. Dave and Maura both work for themselves, and are working hard towards an early retirement to the Adirondacks.

Maura purchased this cabin in 2012

Why this property? It is so very rare to find this kind of privacy on the water, and with such a stunning view...we fell in love the second we saw this location.

We are the third owners. It was a seasonal summer camp since the 40's, using lake water as the water source. The second owners (contractors) started the renovation by securing the foundation, renovating the shell and putting in all those fabulous windows. By keeping the same footprint as the original cabin they were able to keep this amazing waterfront location - you are no longer allowed to build this close to the water.

We finished the home after purchasing, winterized it, put in a year round well for water, put in all knotty pine ceilings and walls, wood floors, decorated and opened her doors to our first guests in August 2012.

As far as we are concerned, this is the perfect retirement spot. Until that time, however, we are sharing the house with guests, so far everyone has been just as thrilled as we are!

Privacy! Views! Open floor plan, immaculately clean and very easy house. It is in a very naturally beautiful and rustic setting, with lots of wildlife. We (or our guests) have seen loons, mergansers, ducks, herons, fox, coyotes, skunk, tons of fish, otter, owl, bald eagles, tons of birds, deer, fawn, a buck, a mama and baby bear!

First person to see and photograph a Moose (note: not a mouse!) from our property gets one free night stay!

WOW! WOW! WOW! I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was or how beautiful this cabin is! The first moment you walk in the door you are greeted by the pleasant scent of fresh wood - the cabin is immaculate and the owners have thought of everything. This was the first time either of my husband or I have had the pleasure of visiting the Adirondacks and it was truly a wonderful memorable vacation. We did quite a bit of kayaking and canoeing, climbed Panther Mountain, and visited some of the local site seeing attractions. It was my idea of paradise! As amateur photographer, I took 1441 pictures of the area!

We had a fantastic time at the cabin celebrating my dad's birthday. the cabin was exactly as described, with awesome views throughout the house. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoes and spent plenty of time sitting outside overlooking the lake. For a quick hike, hit up Panther Mountain - amazing views.

The cabin was clean and the kitchen provided everything that we needed for a perfect stay. We all said we hope to come back in the future, thanks again, Matt

Words cannot do justice to this place. It's stunning!!! The views are to die for, the house is gorgeous and immaculate. We were there for a week over New Year's Eve. The cabin has everything you can possibly need, it's beautifully decorated and immaculate. It was ridiculously cold outside but the heating was great inside, you could sit by the fire and look at the stunning winter wonderland right outside the huge windows. The area is great for winter lovers, skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, all is there together with great casual bars and restaurants within 15 min to half an hour"s drive. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen with every gadget and utensil you can need, the lounge is stunning with a beautiful gas fireplace, books and blankets to make it cozy, the TV room has comfy sofas and Netflix for those cold nights, it's all beautiful and amazing. Maura and David were fabulous hosts, getting back to us immediately to sort out any issue and answer every query. We had a fantastic time and we hope to return soon. Thank you so much!!!!!

Little "peace" of paradise

We stumbled on this cabin while looking for a place to rent for a long weekend. It was obvious from the pictures that this place was a cut above many of the available properties, but even the pictures do not do it justice. The cabin is cozy without being cramped, well-appointed and warmly decorated, and the views are beautiful. It was great to find a place with so much privacy, but still within driving distance of stores and restaurants. We spent a relaxing weekend reading, walking, cooking great meals, and drinking wine by the fire. It was wonderful and we will definitely be back. Thank you Maura!

A stay you won't regret!
  • 5 of 5
I went for a second time in June 2013 to the cabin (first time Fall 2012). The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. Extremely well maintained and clean, and tastefully decorated. Both times I felt at home as I stepped in the cabin. If you like hiking, I strongly recommend going to snowy mountain (it's worth the drive). The view is breathtaking (when the sky is clear). I recommend this cabin - you won't regret it! My only advice would be to bring a sufficient amount of groceries with you as the grocery store in Speculator offers a limited choice.

I came across this cabin while browsing on Homeaway. All the pictures looked very nice so I decided to rent the cabin. I surprised my girlfriend by taking her here and she was very nervous. I said its a cabin in the woods and she was very skeptic. But when we walked inside for the first time, we were both shocked. The pictures do not do this place justice. it is just the right size and everything you want/need is there. There is no detail left undone. The views are stunning and if you are looking for peace and quiet I do not think it gets better then this. There are no other people near you, its just you and nature. Having the Kayaks there is a huge plus. We used those everyday to explore the lake. We also went on a couple of hikes and the views from the top of the mountain are wonderful as well. Maura was very helpful and stayed in contact with us the whole time to make sure everything was going good as well as making sure everything was working. Having the large TV with netflix is also a nice convience in case there is bad weather you can atleast watch a movie if you want. They also have wifi just incase you need to use the internet for something. They take very good care of this cabin and it shows. This is defiently our first choice for our vacations from now on. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to get away for a week, or just a few days. I just want to thank Maura for sharing their cabin with us, this place is a must when it comes to getting away!!

Some of the most picturesque flat water and white water kayaking and canoeing can be found in this region. Waterfalls, stunning hikes with views, white water rafting, fishing and hunting are popular activities. The lakes are not crowded in the least, bring your boat and enjoy water sports.

This area is infamous for it's well maintained snowmobiling trails that go for hundreds of miles, all the way to Canada. Local rentals available.

Cabin is in pristine condition. We take our shoes off inside and prefer that guests do as well to maintain wood floors. This is the perfect place for the discerning is very clean with nicer than average furnishings. We are looking for guests who will appreciate this attention to detail, and treat the house and contents accordingly. Children are welcome, but this may not be an ideal place for toddlers. We have a wild and woolly 500' of natural shoreline outside, and white furnishings inside, you would have to keep a very close eye on them in both places. The best features of the property are the Privacy and the View (stunning year round!). There is a lot of shoreline, but unfortunately most of it is too shallow to swim. There is one deep swimming hole we can direct you to, or kayak 10 minutes to Piseco Lake and enjoy the clear sandy bottom there. Cabin is private but not remote, Rt 8 is near, can't see it but can hear cars from it when outside.
