This one bedroom condominium, located in historic Victorian building in the NW quadrant of Washington DC, Columbia Heights neighborhood known for its Victorian architecture, offers spacious 1100 square feet of living space, king size bed in the bedroom and pull down sofa in the living room.

Gracious living-dining area for charming family meals and entertaining with nicely equipped kitchen. Hardwood floors cover the entire unit and complement our décor. Our living room offers spacious seating as well as pull up sofa for additional sleeping area. Private, off-street parking available next to the building. Free Wireless/Wired DSL.

We are located just three blocks to Columbia Heights Metro (green and yellow line), the Tivoli Theater, DC USA shopping center, the Heights restaurant, Giant grocery store, Sticky Fingers vegan bakery and cafe and all the dinning and shopping located around the Tivoli square.

Columbia Heights borders the neighborhoods of DuPont Circle, Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant and U Street corridor, DC's most vibrant centers celebrated for its history where the charmingly traditional meets the latest in urban planning.

Decent Accommodations for DC Visit

Neighborhood felt safe and we liked having the off-street parking. It was easy to get to the metro and decent shopping and restaurants near by--good thai and crepe restaurants in 14th. The bedroom, kitchen and bathroom were adequate and nicely furnished. We tried to make the living room work for our two teen boys and it was a bit tight. The internet is very weak although my one son found that if he sat in the lobby, the connection was just fine. the air conditioning worked fine. The main down side is that the unit had a funky smell-- maybe cigarettes and bad cooking smells trying to be covered up by air freshener that just didn't work. the laundry facilities were ok but one of two the dryers was broken and the other also stopped working for a while and we didn't discover that until we had 3 wet loads of laundry with another to go. to the manager's credit, it was fixed the next day as we were leaving but it messed up our last night/morning trying to get packed and out the door.

Adequate Lodging in DC

Columbia Heights appears to be a very diverse area of DC. People from all walks of life are on the streets. We never felt unsafe there and we walked from the metro to the apartment, several blocks, every night at dusk or after dark. The apartment was fine, nothing fancy, but adequate for our needs. The extra bed in the living room is a couch that folds out with a queen size air mattress to put on top. The mattress was brand new and smelled very strongly of vinyl (new shower curtain smell)for a few days which gave me a headache. It was fairly comfortable, however.
The kitchen was stocked with dishes and had a nice clean refridgerator. The small area rug in the kitchen was kind of stained and dirty looking.
The bathroom was clean and small. There was plenty of hot water for three quick showers in the morning. The front door was very sticky and took a he-man effort to open. The other tenants in the building came in rather loudly a few nights after we were asleep.
Internet didn't work dependably in the room and was somewhat frustrating. The first two nights it didn't work at all and then it was working intermittently after that. There was a small TV, but we were never in the room long enough to watch anything.
Our stay in DC was fun and busy. Other than the few things I mentioned, I would recommend this place to others looking for housing.

Columbia heights DC affordable conveniences

My daughter was relocating from brooklyn to DC for am internship. Finding affordable housing in DC is a challenge. Staying at this apt was perfect. Great location, close to mall, metro, an it provided a 'homey' atmosphere where you can actually come home & chill after apt hunting, or touring our beautiful Capitol. Our requests were immediately taken care of, thanks Carlos & Dan.

Great hosts, wonderful stay

My family and I spent a wonderful four days at this rental. We loved the location. It was really close to the metro, a giant food store was a block from the apartment, the neighborhood was clean, etc. The apartment itself was spotless. Jarek was really responsive and helpful. Again, we loved our stay here!

wonderful stay

This apartment is in a really great location, less than a 5 minute walk to the METRO station, which easily and quickly takes you to all the sights you want to see in DC. While it is in a transitional neighborhood, my cousin and I (both female) walked through the neighborhood late at night twice and we felt extremely safe. Having off-street parking right outside our door was also very convenient. The king-sized bed was really comfortable for my husband and I, and our 2 sons (ages 13 and 9) slept on the queen-sized pull-out couch in the living room - we all slept well all 3 nights we were there. It was super clean and well stocked with plenty of sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, etc. It was nice to stay in a place that is truly immersed in the city of DC, rather than at a hotel in a "touristy" area. It gives you a different flavor and feel to stay in a "home" as opposed to a hotel. Thanks to the owners, Elizabeth and Jarek, for making our stay comfortable and convenient. I would stay in this place again in a heartbeat.
