Great view of Olympic Mountains and Victoria, British Columbia. Located in town just a few blocks North of the Olympic National Park Headquarters. It has a large fenced back yard with fruit trees as well as a covered patio. Port Angeles is a great Pacific Northwest town with easy access to Hurricane Ridge, the Hoh Rain Forest and the ferry to Victoria. This wonderful home is big enough to bring the whole family, with all the comforts of your home away from home.

About The Owner

We are a married couple who have family in Port Angeles. We live in Alaska, but visit Port Angeles several times per year.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Port Angeles

We bought this house in 2005 when we were living in Port Angeles. Circumstances took us to Alaska but we hope to live in this house when we retire. The house was built in 1947 by a famous Port Angeles builder and has had many upgrades since.

What makes this house unique

This home is located in town, so it has easy access to all amenities, including stores, shops, library and walking distance to the Olympic National Park. You can sit on the couch in the living room and look south at the Olympic Mountains or look north at Victoria and ships sailing through the Straits of Juan de Fuca.

The home is older, but it's bright, roomy, and clean. We were 3 couples visiting during Crabfest. The home had all the amenities we needed.and the location was great too. Travellers coming in off the ferry should keep in mind that the rental office is at least 20 minuites away. But we would definitely use these accommodations again whe we come back!

Comfortable 4 bedroom vacation rental

We had a pleasant stay in this 4 bedroom vacation rental. It was quiet, comfortable beds and living room furniture. The owners were responsive, providing fans to cool the house down after a hotter than usual day. We didn't stay in the basement bedroom because of a musty smell but the other bedrooms were very comfortable. It was a short walk to downtown where we caught the ferry to Victoria and a short walk to the Olympia National Park Visitor Center. We would stay there again.

Disappointing to say the least!

This house is in urgent need of updating. The kitchen cabinets are probably the worst I have seen anywhere - they are decaying and moldy. (not where you feel comfortable to store your food in, take "clean" plates from or cook in that space). Everything in that house in old old old (the paint on the walls does not hide it very well). the lower floor is uninhabitable. The shower room is old and moldy, the bedroom there reeks and we ended up not using that room, even though we planed to. The cleaning service was not doing their best job - we found dead bugs all over the place, the couches are disgusting.
When we returned the key - the person at the reception (who was not at all hospitable) asked me (without real interest) how was our stay. I said - disappointing. He replied with "have a safe drive home"... I replied to that -I guess you get that a lot.. So he reluctantly asked what was our problem with the house and I told him about the state of the house and the poor cleaning. He said he would look into it......I told him he would be reading our review - so here it is.
I did get an email from the company asking about the cleaning service and apologizing for the poor cleaning and the "misunderstood" conversation with the receptionist. I would have appreciated more a refund for the cleaning fee (if nothing else), but that was not offered......

Owner's Response: We are sorry your stay in Port Angeles was not what you expected. My wife and I have tried very hard to provide a clean house with reasonable amenities at an affordable price. The house was built in 1947 and the lathe and plaster walls and the wooden kitchen cupboards are original. We have not tried to “hide” its age with paint but have tried to upgrade the parts of the house we thought would make it more comfortable. For example, tile and hardwood floors over radiant floor heating. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom are dated as well, with wood panel walls and pink tiles in the shower but both rooms have new tile floors and new paint and we think they are totally functional, if not the prettiest rooms in the house.
As for the cleaning. We wish you would have called our office immediately with your concerns over the cleanliness of the home, as our office has someone available 24 hours a day to assist with any problems at the house. Since you did not, we were unable to send someone over to address the cleaning issues immediately. We have spoken with our cleaning contractors about your complaint and will do everything we can to make sure the house is cleaned properly.

Perfect for our needs.

Well appointed, quiet home that we used as a base for our Olympic National Park visit. We are a family with two teen boys. Having two bathrooms, with a W/D came in handy. Everyone had plenty of space. The upstairs bathroom is very nice. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen & dining room are a good size if you plan to cook. We would definitely recommend this rental to anyone. The only thing I would recommend would be black out shades in the master bedroom, as the sun comes up so early!

A walk to town

Our stay here was terrific, with so many conveniences and local attractions within walking distance. My favorite stroll is just up the street to the boundary of the Olympic National Park, literally two blocks away!
There are several well maintained trails, one leading to the Visitors Center 10 minutes away, with neat foot bridges crossing the creek. The nearby forest is magical and magnificent!
On the way up the hill just a block away is a local grocery / coffee shop with great sandwiches and natural foods. About 4 blocks downhill is the best hardware / sporting goods shop in the region! A great place to gear up, and ask for local information on adventure and sightseeing .
A larger grocery store is conveniently about a mile away.
The owners have put a lot of effort into renovating this fine older home into a well dressed rental. It is clean and spacious, and easy to find a quiet nook to catch up on area reading. The back yard is private, with a great cherry tree and a sturdy fence to contain the kids or the dogs. The lush grass lawn makes for great play space. We had a feeling of 'home away from home' here, coming back after exploring the area to a restful living room, and nicely finished bedrooms.
It is a very quiet neighborhood, just far enough away from the main street to avoid traffic noise.
We hope to stay here again! Thank you for offering your home to us!
