Gorgeous Lake!!

We stayed at the Mills Lake House June 11-18, 2011. We had a group of two families (4 adults, one child, one infant, and two dogs) There was more than enough space in this house. The pictures online don't make the place look as big as it really is. We were very surprised at the amount of space.
They allow dogs (on the lower level) and even have a nice sized crate for when you aren't there with them.
The kitchen is VERY well equipped with everything you would need to prepare any kind of meal. Very nice, high quality utensils and kitchen appliances. More pots, pans, dishes, and glasses than you could ever need. The appliances are new, so new that the oven still smells new when you turn it on.
There are couches, chairs, and rockers everywhere in this place, so there is lots of room to lounge around or sit and talk.
The dining areas are on the upper and lower level, so there is plenty of space to sit for a nice dinner.
The lower level has a great flat screen and wrap-around couch, perfect for Tv or movies once the kiddos go to bed. Additionally, there is another full-size refridgerator down here for extra storage(we used it for pop, water, and anything that woldnt fit upstairs.)
The washer/dryer is also brand new and they are HUGE!
The lake was amazing, It is so shallow and sandy for at least a couple hundred yards out. This was great for the dogs to play and the kids loved it. It was early in the season when we were there, so we werent sure how the water temp would be: but as soon as the sun comes out, the water warms right up because its so shallow and sandy.
Our only complaint for this place would be the bugs. Apparently, the fish flies decided to show up during our week. They were all over the place. They dont bite, but they are just annoying. A camp fire at night keeps them at bay, but they just get all over your stuff overnight. I have heard that they are only a temporary nuisance, early in the summer and then they disappear.
We brought up our kayaks and kayaked over to the Platte River and down to Lake Michigan right from the front of the house.
We went to Glen Arbor, sleeping Bear, Suttons Bay, TC, and Old Mission, all of which is pretty close.
We are looking to buy property on Big Platte and wanted to rent in the area to see how we would like it - and we absolutely loved it!
