Charming Home with 3 Bedrooms & 1 1/2 Baths, Sleeps 12

This charming home has all the comforts for any family or two. Whether it is coffee on the deck to catch the sunrise, grilling out on the patio for a relaxing evening, or roasting s'mores over a bonfire.

The nautical living room that overlooks the lake is a great gathering spot for the adults. Teenagers can relax in the family room with gaming table and fireplace. Two bedrooms have queen beds and the dormitory has four bunk beds.

Don't forget your sunscreen. On Silver Lake there is plenty of water activities with sandy beach, dock (to moor your boat), swim raft and paddle boats.

Amenities: The home has a full equipped kitchen including microwave; a spacious dining room. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer. All linens are included. But do your beach towels.

Area: The cottage is only minutes from downtown Traverse City, numerous golf courses, dining and shopping. Beautiful day trips to Mackinac Island, the Leelanau Wine Tour or Old Mission Peninsula are always an option. Traverse City hosts many festivals including the National Cherry Festival, Traverse City Film Festival and the Microbrew Festival.

About The Owner

I grew up on Silver Lake, swimming, skiing, fishing and snowmobiling. My family has lived in the area for over fifty years and I know Northwest Michigan like the back of my hand. I recognized it's natural beauty long before USA today or National Geographic named it America's most beautiful destination, We would love to share it with you

Why The Owner chose Traverse City

Mostly because of the Lake and location. It offers the best of both worlds. Close enough if you want city amenities like restraunts and shoppng and secluded enough if you just want to chill and enjoy the Lake. Silver Lake offers enough room for all sports from skiing to sailing, At times it is peaceful and quiet for kayaking and fishing.

What makes this house unique

Again it's location,Situated just southwest of TC, it's 5 miles to the Bayand down town Traverse City, 4 miles to the Grand Traverse mall , 20 miles to the National Lakeshore, 2 Casinos within 15 miles, Skiing @ Crystal Mountain 20 miles away, Snowmobile trail head just 5 miles away, leading to hundreds of miles of trails. The Vasa trail for hiking or skiing is just 10 miles away. Then again I could spend endless days just soaking up the sun and cooling off in the spring fed lake. Winter fans can warm themselves by our fireplace in a rustic den or ice fish on the frozen Lake. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall... all you gotta do is call. Let's us know your interests and we can offer some suggestions to make your stay memorable and desiring to come visit again and again.

This newly remodeled home located on beautiful Silver Lake has all the amenities for a great vacation. Besides being fully equipped with a dock, raft, beach, gas grill, large deck, fire pit for a summer vacation, it is located conveniently close to golf, shopping, movies and great restaurants. The Beach Bums minor league baseball park is directly across the lake. World renown artists perform at Interlochen Arts Academy which is only six miles away. A day trip to see beautiful Leelanau County's wineries, sleeping bear dunes national lake shore and wonderful villages is worth the time. Enjoy Up North!!

Amazing House

We stayed at this house the week of the Cherry Festival (7/4-7/11) and we could not have been happier. The house is beautiful, incredibly clean, and had all the amenities of home (and then some). We spent most of the week hanging out on the sandy beach, swimming in the crystal clear water, and just enjoying a relaxing getaway. We went into downtown Traverse City a couple of times which is only a few miles away and went to see a Traverse City Beach Bums game, which was awesome.

Just a note to anyone traveling with young children--we stayed here with our 2 year old daughter and brought along her pack-and-play to sleep in. There is a side-room attached to the bunk bed room that was the perfect spot to setup her bed without using up one of the other bedrooms.

What else can I say--the house (and our vacation) were perfect. I highly recommend the house to anyone looking for a vacation in a home away from home.

Grandparents of a family of 13

We had 6 kids age 1 1/2 to 12, 3 grandparents, 2 families with kids, and we brought a power boat to use on the lake. This is a great place for families like ours, as all enjoyed the paddle boats, the rowboat, and the powerboat.

Among the reasons we selected this place was the rental rate within our budget, being on a small lake where the kids had freedom to use the paddle boats, and proximity to other attractions.

We traveled to the Dunes, to Torch Lake, and Pierce Stocking Scenic drive (including the 450 ft climb up the slope for the youngsters). We had relatives from nearby visit to learn of the nationally recognized Ice Cream place "Moomers".

Had the bonfire on the beach complete with "Smores", and just enjoying the clear starlight nights. We were there with perfect weather, and no bugs. Kids enjoyed fishing right off the dock.

We got to visit with the owners Ron & Bridgett, and they are really nice people, helping with suggestions of where to go, and how to get there.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Another great year at Popp Inn. North Bar Lake was the best, thanks for the tip. We had Silver Lake to ourselves for most of the week, it was awesome. Two more kids are up on one ski, shooting for two more next year. So please reserve Fair Week for us in 2008.
