BIG CABIN ON 4 ACRES BY THE CREEK: 1 MILE TO YELLOWSTONE

Cooke City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Den, 2 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

One of the Yellowstone area’s newest cabins, Silver Willows opened in the fall of 2010. It features many of the comforts of home with a mix of rustic charm, and is a great home base for visitors to Yellowstone and the Beartooth Wilderness.

The cabin is found in the small town of Silver Gate, Montana, 1 mile outside of Yellowstone National Park’s northeast entrance and 3 miles down the road from Cooke City. The Silver Gate/Cooke City area is popular with wolf watchers (the Lamar Valley is a short drive away!) and park visitors looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger border towns, as well as winter sports enthusiasts who come to take advantage of the recreation opportunities in the Beartooth Mountains.

Silver Willows is located on 4 acres of woodland bordered by Soda Butte Creek, which runs through the property on its way into Yellowstone National Park. The cabin sleeps 4-6 on two queen sized beds (1 in the master, 1 in the loft) plus a queen sleeper sofa, all with memory foam mattresses. We have two additional folding twin beds for parties of up to 8 people.

**April 2014: New faster high speed satellite internet installed.**

**Jan. 2013: We've added a master bathroom with shower to the upstairs, making the cabin even more convenient for larger groups.**

Whether you want to enjoy the wonders of Yellowstone, a quiet picnic at the creek or a snowmobile ride in winter, Silver Willows is the perfect getaway.

A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN

  • 5 of 5
Wonderful, quiet setting and very relaxing to come back to after a day in the park and surrounding areas. Easy access to YNP. Very clean and well decorated. Cabin as depicted and owner even gave us a check-in phone call to make sure everything was satisfactory.(It was!) Mule deer in front yard and a resident bison named Jackson. Will definitely recommend Silver Willows to friends and family.

LITTLE LUXE CABIN IN THE WOODS

  • 5 of 5
Our first visit to Yellowstone, and we settled on Silver Gate due to it's close proximity to the NE area of the park which included Lamar Valley (The place for wildlife viewing). Our primary reason for the visit was wildlife viewing, so we needed easy quick access for early morning and early evening viewings. We did our research and found Silver Gate was the best place to be. We came across Silver Willows and knew right away after our first email inquiry to Max that this was the place for us. Max was quick responding and a huge help in giving us great info. and tips on our first trip to Yellowstone. Once we arrived to the cabin, we were beyond satisfied. The cabin is tastefully decorated, secluded, peaceful and quiet. It is a stones throw from Soda Butte creek. We never tired of seeing the creek from both the kitchen and living room windows. Absolutely beautiful! Max is a wildlife photographer and his cabin is filled with his work which is beyond beautiful. The cabin is warm and inviting. After our stay and exploring and staying in different areas of the park, we have decided that our next stay will be entirely in Silver Gate and we will stay at this little paradise cabin. The little town of Silver Gate is both charming and beautiful. Yellowstone was beyond our expectations. A little slice of heaven and one of the most beautiful places we have ever been visited. The scenery, the wildlife, Silver Gate and Silver Willows will remain in our hearts forever. We will be back very soon.

GREAT YELLOWSTONE VACATION

  • 4 of 5
Just returned from our hope to be annual Yellowstone vacation. We have stayed in the Silver Gate/Cooke City area a number of times now and found this property to be number one on our list! The cabin was well maintained and had everything we needed. Max checked in with us a couple of times to make sure everything was satisfactory. While there was still plenty of snow on the ground, the driveway was well plowed. Most of our wildlife sightings happened in the park but we were visited by a wild turkey that was intrigued by our truck. We had to chase him off more than once! Hoping to return many times.

GREAT SLED/SKI TRIP

  • 5 of 5
For sledders: This cabin is literally within sight of a seasonal road that can be ridden into Cooke in less than 10 minutes. Just go slow and be as quiet as possible to respect the neighbors.

The caretakers own a food/tourist shop at the end of the driveway, and we found them to be real salt-of-the-earth people, who happen to make some tasty food.

This cabin feels modern and is immaculately clean. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking basics as well as all the pots/pans needed to cook a 3-course meal with some to spare. There are 2 nice beds and an above average fold-out sofa (memory foam top) as well as 2 nice padded cots in the closet. We all agreed that the huge loft area was begging for set of bunkbeds, so hopefully that will happen before our next visit (yes, we will book again.)

GREAT SNOWMOBILING GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
This is the second year in a row our group of 5 has stayed at Silver Willows Cabin. This is a great place for us to snowmobile in and out of every day. The Bannock Trail is right outside the cabin which is only a short ride into Cooke City. The cabin is very well kept and has everything you would need for your stay. We like that everything is very new and ready for us when we get there. We will be staying here again in the future.

WONDERFUL - CABIN, OWNERS, LOCATION, WILDLIFE!

  • 5 of 5
If Montana is the "last, best place", then Silver Willows is one of the "last, best cabins" in America! The cabin, the owners, the location, and everything nearby was just fantastic. Despite being there for some significant snow, we felt well taken care of with Max arranging for the driveway to be plowed -- and how he arranged for that beautiful fox to greet us in the driveway as we drove up will remain a mystery! We made friends with owners of local businesses who helped us rent a scope for wildlife viewing, snow shoes, cross country skis, and even cold weather boots.

The house was very clean, well stocked, and readily accessible to Yellowstone and the Lamar Valley. The kitchen has many appliances, and basic pantry items. The description given for VRBO is very accurate but doesn't quite convey the warmth and sense of "home" of the cabin.

And, we were so delighted with all the wildlife in Yellowstone - including wolves and 5 Bull Moose in one location near Pebble Creek.

So please don't hesitate to go to Silver Willows - just don't do that when we want to return! We hope to become regular guests.
