About Betsy Bishop
My husband Rim and I grew up in South FL, but have always loved to travel. We have found nothing in the US to compare with the Rocky Mountains for scenery, climate and wildlife. Now we are living in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with our Pembroke Welsh Corgi Megan and our rescue cat Oliver Rhys. Rim and I have built a retreat for ourselves in the mountains, but can only visit several weeks a year. We love to share the peace and beauty we have found there with others.
Betsy Bishop purchased this cabin in 2005
Why Betsy Bishop chose Fairplay
We stumbled on this area while driving to Breckenridge for our 20th wedding anniversary. South Park is a high elevation bowl surrounded by mountain ranges. There are many scenic drives and mountain passes for the adventurous to explore. We were attracted to the beauty of the area and abundant wildlife. My husband and I prefer the small town atmosphere of Fairplay to the more heavily populated and trendy ski areas.
What makes this cabin unique
Watch the sun rise over Pike's Peak, or sit on the deck to watch for deer, elk, moose, birds and our squirrel, Paulie Walnuts. The Pike National Forest is on the back border of the lot and there is open meadow across the road that is owned in partnership with the Nature Concervancy, where elk, moose, and deer are often seen at dusk and dawn. Cabins on either side of our lot are barely visible even in winter due to the thick grove of mature aspen trees, which turn golden in the fall. The house has all the modern conveniences, yet is cozy and secluded. Snuggle in for a good night's sleep under thick, down comforters. Our water is better than any bottled variety, is cold from the faucet, and is tested regularly to comply with Colorado state laws (as any public water supply).
Guestbook comments from the owner
I just want to let you know that everything was great. We really enjoyed our stay at your home, and we really appreciated all the Christmas decorations. It's a wonderful place you have, and we found everything we needed while there. You've done a really great job of keeping the kitchen stocked with all the pots and pans and other gadgets that anyone might need.
Thank you again for opening your home to us, and I hope you had a great Holiday.
