I have to say Apt. 1 has been great. It has everything a weary traveler needs. Also, it is close to the Metro and bus, even the Louvre and M d'Orsay for late summer evening visits. I walked out to the nearest pedestrian bridge the other night and enjoyed an African dance performance (along with a few hundred pique-nique'ers. :)We will be sad to leave, and have truly appreciated the hominess of Apt. 1.
The apt at 10 rue JJ Rousseau, 1st floor, is charming, well-appointed, and perfectly located to visit all you'd ever want to see in and out of Paris ... without needing a car. Even though the apartment is on a small quiet street, it is in the middle of wonderful restaurants, shops and only two blocks from the Louvre. The owner provides current and accurate suggestions / recommendations of restaurants and pastry shops within the immediate area, and the bookshelf contains more guides to Paris than I thought existed. We would definitely stay here again, and have already recommended it to friends.
This is a GREAT LOCATION: very near the Louvre and within walking distance to many of the major sites in central Paris including Notre Dame, the Musée d'Orsay, the Tuileries, Place Vendome and Place de la Concorde, the Marais, and walks along the Seine.
There is a grocery store closer than the Louvre and bakery shops temptingly near. A choice of restaurants are within a five minute walk.
This was my second stay in this apartment which is charmingly furnished French-style. It is clean, well-maintained and the bed is comfortable. One hears little noise from the street thanks to the soundproofing windows in the living room. I love that there is a washing machine and a drying rack. I look forward to my next stay. it has become 'my' Parisian home!
PS. The reason I give the apartment four instead of five stars is that the apartment has electric heaters rather than central heat, a rarity in Paris.
This is a very comfortable, well equipped apartment. The location is wonderful, walking distance to everything you may want to see and the metro is close. Grocery stores are nearby. Nancy and Fernando were great to deal with. The only little problem was the noise at night from the street, but of couse you are in the best area of Paris. What do you expect! We would definetly rent this apartment again and recommend it to all of our friends. Thanks Nancy and Fernando!
The best thing about this apartment was the location, within two blocks of the Louvre and Metro. Nancy quickly responded to our inquiries regarding this wonderful apartment and Paris, which made our selection sooooo easy. Her write-ups about transportation, activities, restaurants, security advice, etc., were detailed and uncomplicated. Loved her restaurant recommendations; they were all excellent and well within walking distance. No problem about safety and security, even late at night. Fernando met us at the door, even though we were late arriving. He was thorough during our walk thru, explaining all the workings of the apartment and also warned us of pickpockets for which we're grateful. We were on the floor above street level on a quiet street off Rue St. Honore so we had privacy but also just a short climb up.The apartment wasn't fancy or overlooking the Seine, but certainly exceeded our expectations and kept within our budget so we could not feel guilty about an extra glass of wine at lunch. Although located in a very old bldg, the apartment was clean and well-maintained. Fernando was always available when we had questions. Washer/dryer combo was as expected; we learned to wash small loads at a time. We will definitely recommend this apartment to our family and friends. We will be back, Nancy!
My three friends and I stayed at this apartment for a girls getaway over the Christmas holiday in 2012, and we loved it! It was clean, comfortable, and the location is terrific -- very close to the Louvre with many restaurants and cafes in walking distance. The many amenities were a big plus, especially the wifi and telephone! We also enjoyed being able to cook our Christmas dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen! The apartment is located up a flight of stairs, so it might not be right for everyone, but it was perfect for us. We'd love to stay there again sometime!
Staying at the apartment in the 1st arrondissement provided a full immersion into the Paris experience. There was so much to do and see and all within walking distance. The local restaurants and boulangeries were welcoming to tourists and the food was spectacular. The apartment was clean and provided all the amenities one would need. I highly recommend this especially for first time visitors to Paris. The manager provided all the necessary information so there was little to worry about. Just walk out the door and enjoy the experience.
