PERFECT RETREAT IN THE FOREST NEAR MT RAINIER!

  • 5 of 5
We couldn't have asked for a better host or place to stay! Paul greeted us when we were there with a pie and stargazers for our 1st anniversary. The place is immaculate with lots of custom wood carved furniture and art, quiet and peaceful. The hottub was warm and ready to go, the bed was comfy and the water was hot!

The kitchen was stocked, there is a new TV and entertainment centre for watching movies, a new BBQ (that looked awesome but we didn't have time to use it), and a firepit. This place could easily hold two or three couples or a family of 4.

Its a great place to get away if you want to be off-line. There is only land-line telephone service, and no cell phone service. This was fine for us because we really needed a break from work :-)

Would love to come up again, and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay near Mt. Rainier!

POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

  • 3 of 5
Positives: Nice comfortable beds and large bedrooms. Well stocked bathrooms with plenty of towels. Close location to Rainier entrance. Creek behind house provides nice sounds to sleep. Stocked kitchen including paper plates and cups if needed (although there are glass ones as well). Washer and dryer including detergent. Lots of board games and movies.

Negatives: No tv reception. Stairs are small and steep. Main issue was that the owner was there each day and it felt as if he was monitoring us. Not only did he visit the yard to work on it but he also entered the house while we were not there. If he is renting the house then he needs to only enter it in cases of emergency. His personal effects such as toothbrush and soaps were evident as well so as a family we felt as if we were intruding on his personal space.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your honest feedback. We do try to greet all guests upon arrival. Please note that on occasion we do check the hot tub chemicals but we always let the guests know that we will be stopping by. The Stargazer offers many extras that our guests can enjoy such as firewood, a large movie collection, BBQs, fishing poles, a pass to the National park, and much more. It is our goal to make sure everyone visiting has a great experience and we value your feedback.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

  • 5 of 5
LOVE LOVE LOVE this home away from home! The house was clean and tidy. It came with everything we needed. The sound of the running stream behind the house was calming and made for a perfect environment to have a picnic (there is a picnic bench by the water). The owner was kind enough to meet us at the houes in order to show us where everything was inside and also let us know if we needed anything he was only 5 min away! The beds were very confortable! The bathrooms came stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and fresh towels. There is even a washer and dryer here!! I can't wait to come back here!

GOOD RENTAL FOR THE PRICE

  • 3 of 5
Our family of four enjoyed two nights at the cabin, which was conveniently located a few short miles from the national park. The fall colors were beautiful, and the creek in the back of the property played it's pretty melodies to soothe our evenings. The place is well furnished and the owner is friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the stay, although it's not a 4-star rental because it was a little like living at home -- not everything was clean and in excellent working order. For the price, it's very adequate if you're not too fussy or fastidious. It did have the largest video selection I've ever seen, a ton of games, a very good hot tub, and cozy heaters for those chilly nights.

GATEWAY TO ADVENTURE

  • 4 of 5
We stayed at the Stargazer as part of our visit to Mt. Rainier National Park. We were lucky to see the stargazer lilies which give the house its name. Stargazer met all of our needs; comfortable beds, full kitchen for cooking and a wonderful hot tub for after hiking soaks. The creek in the backyard made a lovely background music for our visit. The proximity to the Park entrance is a great plus as it made getting up and hiking early in the day possible. The owner was very nice and accommodated letting us in early to put our food in the refrigerator before our afternoon hike. Plus, he makes a very delicious cheesecake.

GREAT LOCATION, HOT TUB, KITCHEN. AWESOME EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5
Just came back last night - wish we were still there! Photos very accurate. Nice sized bedrooms, 2 nice bathrooms. Kitchen large and very easy to cook in for two. Small grill outside, worked fine. Hot tub was AWESOME. Maybe too good - now my husband wants to get one! :) Five min from park entrance. Also little private lake a few houses away that renters can swim in. Our (grown) kids loved it. Lots of small kids there, too. The creek running by out back is so relaxing. I sat and read a book (he provides chairs) and it was the most relaxed I have been in as long as I can remember. I even dozed off in the chair listening to the creek. VERY unlike me. The property is right by the Gifford Nat'l Forest (I think that is the name) where there are hikes and a beautiful creek with swimming, rock scrambling, and people came there as well. So there is lots to do even if you don't want to battle the crowds in the park itself. Beds comfortable, owner extremely friendly and helpful (as were the neighbors). Hard to drive away from on the last morning. We both agreed we would definitely stay there again, and I hope we are able to.
