About John Souza and Mary Souza
Mary is a Tacoma native, where she grew up until meeting John at Western WA State College. They married after college and lived in several WA locations. The Souza's moved to Gig Harbor in 1992 and embarked together on a real estate sales career. Now living only 15 minutes from where she grew up, John and Mary have acquired a wealth of information about the Puget Sound, its people, local events and activities.

Why John Souza and Mary Souza chose Gig Harbor
John is loved by everyone! He is very social and is a whiz at sports statistics. Mary and John knew they would enjoy having a B & B even 25 years ago, when they made an offer to buy one then. But it wasn't until 2005 that one of Mary's real estate listings caught their attention. Nearing retirement, they began to think that the charm and location of a 1400 square foot 3 story home located in the Finholm district and built in 1901 might make a great bed and breakfast. It was the first minister's residence in Gig Harbor. The home had been built by volunteers over a 4 year period, and was finally finished by Brother Andrew Jackson McNemee at his own expense, becoming its first occupant. Being only the fourth owners, John was able to gather significant historical data about the home, the first church of Gig Harbor that set next to it, and the growth of the community. Several binders of historical information, photos, reconstruction, original house materials, and previous owner interviews are available to visitors.
What makes this house unique
There is no place on earth as gorgeous as Gig Harbor on a sunny day! To the east stands Mt. Rainier tall and majestic with the Cascade Mountains at its feet. To the west are the Olympic Mountains as a gorgeous backdrop to the villages a short drive from here. Eagles soar in our skies, deer wander into the yard to eat apples and hopefully only the plants John is sacrificing to them, and an array of bird varieties are attracted to John's suet and hummingbird feeder. We love serving guests healthy meals and incorporate our garden produce as much as possible. Having designed the home to meet all their needs and giving Mary her kitchen 'to die for' and with all the nooks and angles of a traditional Victorian home, the Souza's don't plan to sell any time soon. The totally rebuilt Parsonage now at 2350 square feet is a home they want to share and enjoy with others.
Guestbook comments from the owner
We received a beautiful bouquet of flowers, (just in time for Easter) and a thank you card from Danny and Kaitlyn. Here's what they wrote, "It was amazing being able to stay in your beautiful home. Hope to come visit again soon! "
