Townhome, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)
Fort Myers, known as the City of Palms, is in southwest Florida about 15 miles up the Caloosahatchee River from the Gulf of Mexico. This 1650 sq ft (160 m2) townhouse is in a gated community of townhouses called Forest Lake that was built in 2005. There is a community center, heated swimming pool, volleyball court, small gym, and a 3 mile linear park just north of the subdivision. There is a 1-car garage, and additional parking space in the driveway, and a fenced-in landscaped patio in the rear. Small dogs or cats are allowed.
The first floor contains the living/dining room, full kitchen, master bedroom (queen) with bath, and a half bath. The second floor includes two large bedrooms (queen/2 twins) and a shared full bath. A washer and dryer are in the garage.
Forest Lake is located on Metro Parkway, about a mile north of Colonial Parkway. It is less than 3 miles from the renovated waterfront area (River District) that constituted the original settlement along the Caloosahatchee River. The barrier island beaches of Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Island, and Captiva are 15 miles away on the Gulf of Mexico with swimming year around. Farther south is Naples-36 miles, Marco Island, and the Everglades National Park-72 miles. Orlando is 156 miles to the NW, Tampa 130 miles north, Miami 146 miles east, and Key West four hours by high-speed boat from Fort Myers Beach.

This townhouse was purchase in 2010 for occasional personal use and for seasonal rentals.
We have kept boats at the the City of Fort Myers Marina for a number of years and really enjoy the Fort Myers area, ready access to beaches, shopping, and small town flavor.
The heated pool is very convenient and especially enjoyed by our grandkids. The adjacent hiking/bicycling trail is also very nice. As a gated community, it is private and has none of the usual street traffic and noise, yet is very close to museums, restaurants, shopping, and spring training for the Minnesota twins and the Boston Redsox.
